Random fact. But the Saucony Endorpin Pro 3 and 4 is the shoe used by most Hybrid runners doing hybrid running events like Hyrox. It has the versatility to handle the runs quickly, the grip to push a heavy sled and the stability to do lunges and wall balls. It's a great shoe.

In Australia, the AF3 price is not outrageously expensive relative to the other shoes in this video. AF3 $370 EP4 ? (not yet released in Aust) ... very soon. Cielo X1 $420 Fast-R Elite 2 $350 Interestingly, Puma were selling last year's Fast-R for $400. Probably couldn't sell many so reduced the price. I hope the same applies with Hoka and not many people buy it at the outrageous $420 price tag so they reduce it. It is rare but I may have to disagree with you Edd in as much as I don't want a versatile race day shoe. For race day shoes, I want it for the sole purpose of aiding me in getting a PB. I don't care if it is not versatile and can't double as a trainer. It's sole purpose is to get me a PB and not destroy my body (feet/legs) in the process. If it happens to perform well as a training shoe then that's a bonus. But for non race day shoes that's where I look at versatility and durability more closely.

Also, I figured the Puma would come out on top, although you stopped short of concluding that. I was given a pair of the AF3 from my favorite indie run store to test, with the assurance I could return them if they didn’t work out for me. I never liked a Nike racer to date but the step-in of the AF3 was very comfortable and fit perfectly, so I wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing out on something great. The Endo Pro3 was my 1st CP shoe which served me extremely well last April in an 18:00 PR (other factors involved of course!). I did one 14+ mi LR in the AF3 and enjoyed it but have had nagging doubts about going with something so very different this April on an A race. So I just sent them back and will have them to order me the Endo Pro4 which-based on this review, Fordy’s and a couple others I trust-I’m expecting to love. Thanks Ed for corroborating my gut feelings. At a petite 102 or so lbs., I don’t think I’m getting enough out of the AF, and the EP feels entirely natural with my biomechanics.
