WOW ! I'm a js8call nut, 24/6 station here. Tons of relays and mailbox exchanges happening all night long world wide. I went with 8gb pi4b and wow, so stable and powerful. Much more than windows of course. Sota ? Solar panels are cheap. My station runs 24/7 on a LiPo battery bank (along with all my refrigeration in the house). From what you've just shown us, for house purposes, Pi4B is the only choice. But, with the absence of new Pi4Bs on the market, a few of my friends have gone with these inexpensive powerful mini-computers, and the 12v one is very handy for Sota/Mobile/Marine work. One friend has changed over completely and I"m going to try the one that just came in soon as a backup. My HDMI monitor has it's own battery so if it comes loose I have time to hook it back up (for charging) . Mini Computers may use more power though, than even a Pi4B ? I'll be looking into that soon. Freebird!! I’m using the pi 4 as my dedicated digipi platform but I’m inclined to switch to pi zero because it’s lower power usage and digipi was designed to work in the pi zero. Also, Then in can repurpose the pi 4 for bitcoin mining or something! ;)

I use a Pi4 8gb for my daily driver desktop. I've overclocked it to 2.2ghz and it's optimized really well. For something like your use though, the Pi0 seems much better.

The last time I could get a RPi Zero2W it cost me as much as my last RPi4-8GB...Glad you could find RPi4-4GB at a 'reasonable' price

Have you tried using a raspberry pi3 verses a raspberry pi4 with a Shari RF deck in the same case? I plan to setup a raspberry pi Shari for the AllStarLink network both in the same physical case. Now, that you mentioned the heat that the pi4 generates, maybe it would be better to use the pi3 instead of the pi4 for that application, because of the heat, if the pi3 performance is enough for an AllStarLink node.

I really love the info I can get from Adafruit but I haven't seen much re whether the folks are hams ? With their knowledge they could really ham it up !

A fully configured Pi with dedicated radio, cables and internet. Then another radio you'd use to send messages through this system. And of course.. A HAM Licence.
