Dramaguete is a hell hole, getting out in June 2024, heading back to the USA, many expats are old white men who are racist, they bring their bad habitis here, many gossip make up stories about you if they don't like you, been there, Oh I'm not white, most of the time I walk in Dramagute or walk through the mall I get stares from white expats, and the stares are not friendly, I have met a few good expats but 99% are racist, Paul is 100% correct its a hell hole, my advise don't live here live someplace where's there's no expats.

TOTALLY LOVE DUMA!!! I live in Marina Spatial condos, heart of Duma on the waterfront - with big pool, gym, 24/7 security, rooftop garden, games room, underground parking for my scooter and sportscar, emergency generator for the few powercuts. Great beach (Silliman) a short walk away, restaurants everywhere within a walk, new shopping center right next door with doctors, supermarket soon to open. ACE hospital up the road is great and walk-in service. I rarely see expats at all, but then I don't hang out in the sad bars. Great dating scene! I'm 65 and have been dating my 20 year old for 2 years. Before that 28 year old nurse for eight years. Sweet! Apartments small by our standards, but I bought so no rent and I configured it to maximize the space and frankly with this weather you live outside all the time. (I've tried renting big houses, but karaokes, roosters, security concerns, loud/ drunk neighbor parties, blackouts were a nightmare -- but that's the same for all the Philippines). Been here 8 years and would never live anywhere else!

Truth is - the thing that impresses me -- the most -- is - the Filipina Pea makes 'her home' in Dumaguete - of all places. That girl is extremely smart - well educated - and very well informed of western culture and US lifestyles. She certainly could live - presumably - 'anywhere' in the Philippines - yet picks Dumaguete ?!? Do actions speak louder than words ? I think perhaps so. > However - I have noticed inflation - primarily rent prices - have got much more expensive the past 2 or 3 years there - I think due to the abundance of expats driving up prices ! > Many areas of the country remain much cheaper for rent prices - where far fewer expats reside. -?- If a lower cost of living is needed - it may not be the place for you ! 🤔
