I started off with bounty role for the gold but I realised that Collector role was great for earning money, levelling up and learning the map. Additionally there's the Jean Ropke collector map online which makes it dead easy (without the need to use weapons or shoot). You could still earn gold from daily challenges and treasure maps every 5 levels, so if I had my time again I'd start with the collector and then bounty role to augment the gold. Bounty role has the best replayability.

0 to 88 in 2 weeks, kinda regret trying to do the Collector Role while trying to clear the map of collectibles one time during the weekend (managed to get duplicates of coins and other RNG stuff in around 10-12 hours during the Collector-only day). It was not fun, I should've just stuck with BH afk grind to earn both cash and gold while doing actual IRL stuffs. 🥹

I really think that the thumbnail says it all. Bounty hunter and collector are the two best options, really. Collector will get you a BOATLOAD of cash right from the start, as well as powering through levels with consistent, easy XP. However, bounty hunter is usually on sale to some degree, and while it can be a bit repetitive, is overall better for rootin' tootin' cowboy shootin'

To be honest if I was starting fresh, I would go Trader, moonshiner and then bounty hunter. The only reason is collector accelerates the leveling so fast you will be out of content. Now looking back I would want a slow burn to leveling. I know it is not the norm, but that is what I would do. Blood money at least adds some variety.

I just started playing RDO in december when winter update released, I started with collector role and it’s definitely the best choice in my opinion. Earning gold has been relatively easy so choosing bounty hunter isn’t necessary for your first role, and won’t garner nearly the same amount of money or xp. Doing daily challenges, treasure maps, blood money missions and stranger missions I was easily able to earn enough gold to buy the prestigious bounty hunter license straight away as my second role. Collector allowed me to get a ton of cash and get better gear and buy other upgrades for other roles, maybe more importantly you get insane amounts of xp for collector role. I’ve been playing for almost a month and i’m already almost level 100, I credit a lot of that to collector role for leveling up so quickly I already have explosive rounds unlocked. The best part is it’s guaranteed money, if you have the time you know you’re guaranteed to make at least a few hundred dollars that day. You don’t have to rely on riding around hoping you get good rng on animal spawns for perfect pelts, and hoping you don’t ruin the pelt so you can actually kill it and donate it to cripps, and hoping you don’t get killed by griefers on the way, you don’t have to rely on how much time you spend in the mission or whether or not you keep the target alive, you just ride around collect cards, flowers, bottles, eggs, heirlooms, whatever you like and get guaranteed cash and xp. Funny part about starting during the winter update is the cold weather was making me die and cores drain super fast, I had zero money or gold and had a hard time finding the right combination of winter garments that I could afford, eventually I did get a cold outfit but it was frustrating dying from the winter as a new player, but collector certainly helped to afford new clothes. Purchases are very expensive in RDO so it’s nice to have good amounts of money early on and requires no investment for upgrades

You’re totally right, one of the few good things that came out of the blood money update is the amount of gold you can get, along with pamphlets. Bounty hunter was necessary before but it was very boring, even for beginners.Great video Cat!

I would have to say the Collector role is the best for a beginning player. You earn XP for each collectible you find and a whole bunch of XP for selling complete sets. You also make a lot of money selling collectibles and sets. Ranking up is also pretty fast with all of the XP you earn, so you will also get treasure maps fairly quickly. Each one of those should get you anywhere from half to more than one bar of gold.

For new players, I think running Collector and mixing in stranger missions and blood money is the better route initially. Reasons were in the vid but here's the quick breakdown: 1) new players can explore the map- it's more exciting when you're new for sure 2) map exploration tends to lead to more random encounters (gang hideouts are fun imo) and, sometimes, treasure maps! Also lets you mark good areas for fishing and hunting! (Fishing and Bow are fantastic for leveling HP, while running around helps Stamina) 3) new players should do every stranger mission at least once. Same for story missions 4) blood money exists and is a good part of the rotation 5) 1-4 allow fairly fast level progression, which means more treasure maps from leveling up. Treasure maps will help you net enough gold fast enough to get the Bounty Hunter role fairly quickly. 6) After that you'll be able to generate enough gold for the rest of the roles, and have decent enough cash for role advancement! Imo getting the Collector first may not appear super exciting, but it can def be much busier than expected when you mix in many new player activities.

I got the bounty hunter as my first role about a month ago, because I realized I would need a lot of gold to customize my weapons they way I wanted them (no, I didn't get everything in solid gold XD). Also, I wasn't really aware of blood money missions in the beginning. I enjoyed it though! Between the daily challanges, bounty hunting and blood money I could rake in a good amount of gold without it actually feeling like a grind.

I just started to play RDO 5 days ago on Xbox. I just grinded the first 3 missions from the blond lady back to back, helped some Strangers get back to their houses, and completed 5 daily challenges so far (once per day) until I got the 10 Gold bars combined. With the discount that R* put for the Bounty Hunter license, this is the 1st role I got. I'll wait until the snow goes away to continue with the adventures since you can't see sh!t. Thank you for the tips for both RDO & GTA O Cat, they really help a lot.

We all, that have been playing awhile, know that this is a humanly beautiful world. Fun to just cruise around in so yes, the collector role is a great introductory ride. But;) since you start with your buddy Cripps, a good point is to get him going, money, xp, and a chill way to learn the varied terrain, then do collector, but once again, nicely the players choice. Yea, what you so properly said, thanks for keeping the lucky new players going in the right direction still, after so many great, informative videos. Just wish I was starting the journey for the 1st time, as long as I had played through the story first!(hint, hint;)

I would say the Trader role has the most structure without having missions. You can grind or you can chill, and be earning XP and good cash either way. It encourages group play for grinding, but it can also be a good 10-15 minutes of play to hunt something and load your wagon. If you have a LOT of time on your hand, its got solid break ups between hunting to get supplies and do runs. On a day off, I was able to do 3 full wagon loads solo. But I also like riding with the posse when they are available.

New players I think the collector role is best. They can learn the map. Even use Defensive to limit being attacked. It is not an exciting role but you can make a lot of money learn the map. Between collector and daily challenges should have a lot of money pretty quickly. From there. Would say Bounty Hunter. Gold for the Bounty Hunter Role is pretty good. So one for Money and one for Gold.

Am somewhat new to the game and just realized that each role comes with new upgraded abilities for leveling up, which for me as a hunter greatly increases the value of getting the Naturalist role since it gives you (to my understanding), the ability to track legendary animals (which I guess if I read it correctly answers my question of why I can't find any), increasing their spawn rates, and the ability to track all animals more efficiently. I get that Collector is good for money and bounty hunter gives you gold, but had I known that I would've 100% chosen it over Bounty Hunter as my first role.

After buying bounty hunter role as my 1st (about 18 months ago), ive done nothing but bounties, and completing Red Ben Clempson over and over again with my friends (back then the payout was huge, 48 gold bars fixed, not related to time, and over 500 RDO$ after each mission), then blood money missions came out and 2x gold earnings to that. Unfortunately my friends got bored of the game and left it, but I kept playing, because I loved every aspect of the game (it felt like a direct upgrade in every way compared to GTA5), the shooting mechanics, the beauty of the world and the ability to ROLE PLAY, I mean in GTA5 u pretty much just go and shoot but in RDO besides that u can craft, cook, hunt, fish, collect, explore, and theres even a bit of story with Ms. LeClerk. And even after over 250 hours of playing and owning still only the bounty hunter role cuz I spent all my gold to weapon cosmetics I still enjoy playing and Im planning to buy the collector and moonshiner role, cuz I need money now (even on this level Im always out of gold and money) to level up ability cards and xp aswell, so collector role would be helpful, and getting moonshiner not just for the passive income, but for the extra story line and just to have a saloon myself aswell where I can welcome my friends if there will be any playing RDO (and I mean how cool is that when you own an illegal alcohol business!). Edit: Im just praying for Rockstar Games to not let this game die.

I like trader. If you have a posse member to team up with you can make good money on deliveries. Go back and forth as posse leaders and run deliveries. Always do the distant delivery for more $. Hunting is easy tons of animal spawns now so you can fill up materials fast.

Noob here. Picked collector first. The money from my first run across the map was insane. Four tarot sets, flower set, and alcohol bottle set brought me a sum that I blew on the shovel (that has worked once), the metal detector (which has not worked at all), and the collector mid level horse (which is an insanely PT temperamental animal- even worse than my free thoroughbred from the ultimate RDR2purchase). Am making my second run across the map and now know to save my money. Also finding I get decent gold from stranger missions/story missions and especially from ranking up bonus maps.. I suppose bounty hunter will be next.

If we exclude blood money or even included it, your gold income is your top priority till you have all the roles. Bounty hunter is top 1st buy always. You have no gold income besides dailies and treasure hunts if you don't do blood money and can't get the other roles because you didn't buy bounty hunter.

Recently I restart my character I went with collector I am 54 level in a week I got bounty hunter and just pay 5 gb and bypass trader for moonshiner I got 5 gb now.... I do lengentaries only and then I collect wherever I find usually I go for the standard if I pick coins jewelry Fossils I just sell them for quick cash... No mater collector or bounty hunter I belive you gonna be fine but I prefer collector bounty hunter makes me bored to be honest but it's good when I am bored from collecting do few bounties to break the monotony

Its Best to use them all at once but for me the order by Usage is : 1.Moonshiner 2.Trader 3.Collector 4.Bounty Hunter( only with friends) And i dont use the Naturalist role yet,but i plan to get into it soon. From my point of view, bounty hunter is still the best role for beginners, legendary bounties are a lot of fun, so as bolas plus dailies are pretty easy to achieve. Edit : it combines pve/pvp, gold and xp, the downside is the time you need to spend to get max payout + the overall low cash payout

"this depends" if you don't have time(for example you play only 1-2 hr per day) to collect at least tarot sets - collector will not be that useful and trader might be even slightly better money wise. if you don't like pvp(slightly less gold then BH, but still worth getting) or grinding call to arms - bounty hunter is a must have to get gold (at least it's more convenient then bloodmoney mission) only naturalist is useless. leave it to established players.

Legendary animals are good for trader so it’s not useless if you know how to utilize it but yeah collector is definitely a nice relaxing role with good xp and cash

@@Xp8riot. i meant "useless as a first role". cuz video talked about "beginners". so i assumed that you can't be a trader+naturalist under these circumstances. cuz beginner will probably be choosing his 1st role. (and even then i'll probably save it for later...price is biting)

I recommend no role. Once you start playing this game, having some fun and realizing the potential the game has. Reality then hits you, theres nothing to do with your hard earned cash and gold. The RNG becomes a bit repetitive and weekly updates of being trolled by R*, discounts on beans and undesirable clothing

Imagine this: Blood money pt 2, you find or buy capilatale and then give it to the italianos and in exchange they give you information (thats how it works rn) and once you have gotten them a signifficant amount of capitalae then they will offer you to use it in their stores and maybe even buy exclusive jobs from rich criminals and weapons and clothing that are imported and maybe that would be like the first step twoards actual crime, and there are multible good parts with this It can easily be made good Its not that hard to make for them You have to grind to get to the content meaning the fastest way is fence and gold but it is friendly to people with no gold or horders Its a new shop where they can add weapons from that time period and before but from other countries It makes some what amount of sence as clearly we wont be going from a nobody to arthur morgan the domestic t*rrorist bank robber over night but well do small time jobs and then we move up in the ladder of power slowly Very sad they wont do this

I feel as for a beginner, stranger missions will be much better than bounty hunter as payout is almost the same, except the infamous and legendary bounties. In both type of missions you get max gold within the last 30 seconds of the mission to be completed

The collector role is very boring and some collexting is pain in the as* so i allways stay with bounty hunter

When i started playing RDO, i bought Bounty hunter role first and i still think that it is the best role for beginners because first of all it is really enjoyable and you will earn lots of gold by just delivering legendary bounties(money payout is also not bad either) therefore buying other roles is gonna be a lot easier for you and the second best role to buy is the Trader role or Collector role if you just care about leveling up faster or simply earning money faster👍 but for me Collecting items is just tedious and i don't find it enjoyable at all.
