The death knell for my high school chess club in 05 was going to the school next door and playing Halo LAN with their chess club. Our librarian who ran the chess club hated video games. I could see the look of defeat on his face when we all stopped playing chess and got on computers

i play SC1 for 26 years now, almost every day. dont have other games installed even.

I don't play myself, too slow, I did though back in the day. But few years ago I discovered that there is still a vibrant esport scene in SC1, and now I watch every ASL, and few times a week I put a new Artosis cast on my living room TV :) I tell my wife that it's a sport (and it is!), just like other watch football :D Oh, and on my bucket list for when I will finally get to South Korea is to go to pro match in person :)

If you think it's slow don't play the 64 version, it's about half the speed. It does have some pretty interesting coop modes and you can select more units at a time.

for me, SC:BW never lose its crown to WC3, since WC3 look like a RPG game than a RTS game. SC2 is the worthy successor :D

Agree, it feels like a hero leveling game more than an RTS. i do have fun though with necromancers and meat wagons for an infinite terrible army.

I've always loved StarCraft I and II alike. Supreme Commander is another pretty good RTS game that is worth checking out.

I just wish supreme commander 2 was as good as the original. Only thing they did right on that was to fix the performance.

I started with SC2 back in 2010 and played it off and on for a long time, but got into SC1 Remastered in 2020 and haven't looked back.

For me it's a toss up between brood war (remastered), supreme commander forged alliance, and battle for middle earth 2 the rise of the witch king. Unfortunately the latter takes a lot of modding to get running.

Such a good game, though the copy protection with the 5 minute timer is super frustrating. Battle for middle earth 2 is another fantastic game.

@jellybearstudios I haven't played any pc games in 10 years so the copy protection and other security must be really good now . I cant even get a laptop working anymore someone gave me with all the silly security stuff they have now .
