Out of all the steal-these-rules videos I’ve done, some of the actual rules I use in my games, some I just present for the channel. FRONTS! They are incredible! Once I started using them my sessions and campaigns really upleveled and became more epic and impactful. The world feels more alive with fronts with multiple moving fronts. Fronts can create moments where the party has to choose one front over another, knowing that the one they ignore will progress towards its impending doom, but the satisfaction when the party finds a creative solution to progressing multiple fronts is amazing!

Oh and their Monster Maker (by the same guy) has the 4e roles revised and supported with math to scale 1 to 1 with equal level fighters, so encounter building is easy. It’s sick

Alignment doesn't define your character but the other way around. Shadowdark's alignment system is like the BECMI's -- Lawful, Neutral, and Chaotic.

Not a TTRPG but Mansions of Maddness have how you added puzzle into a turn. They push the puzzle down on the table thing like slip puzzle and the puzzle havstat with it which determine that number of moves a player can make in a turn. If the player does not solve it then the puzzle remain as it is for the next player.

I've used homebrew minions before and the party's dual wielding Paladin/Fighter never git tired of mowing down enemies one after another. Maybe that was just him, but that's been my experience with them.

Well one should also not forget that D&D 4E had 1. 4 roles, 1 of them was controller and they specialized in Area attacks. 2. there where A LOT of area attacks. Including with fighters. As a fighter you could cleave or whirlwind etc.
