@PirateJohnson so in the comic this is actually based on, the younger heroes (kyle and wally) both sided with batman, for precisely the reasons mentioned in the video: wally even brought up an incident where the teen titans fought a mind controlled league in a then-recent flashback story. Iirc, it was mm, wally, and Kyle voting to keep Bruce on, sup, ww, aquaman and plastic man voting to boot.

My only gripe with Doom is purely because I've read the comic it's based on. In the comic, there's a much more nuanced discussion about Batman's contingencies, with half the league being on his side, with Superman being the one to cast the deciding vote to kick him out. The whole thing nearly breaks up the team, with Superman and Batman having to work together to rebuild the team's trust in each other. The movie, by contrast, ends with Superman giving Batman the piece of Kryptonite and being like "boy howdy you're 100% right Batman, I trust you to have contingencies" and like... noooooo. The whole point of the comic was Batman was right to have contingencies, but he went way too far in how he went about them (and the fact that he didn't trust the rest of the league to know he even had them, which was Superman's big issue with Bruce in the comic). Admittedly part of that is that the methods in the movie are less extreme (in the comic, for example, Plastic Man is frozen and shattered, Green Lantern is made blind, Superman is exposed to a crazy version of kryptonite Batman developed that turns his skin translucent, etc) but still. Contingency=good is such an oversimplification of the issue.

This is so true, I found it so bizarre at the end when Superman just handed him kryptonite after what he did. In the end in the comic Batman admitted what he did was wrong, in the animated movie he never even got kicked out, just decided to ditch and still got the kryptonite.

I have more of a bias for Justice League: Doom because I love how it brought back most of the DCAU Justice League voice cast to reprise their roles again for this movie, which always felt like a real fan-servicey type of treat before they gave us an actual DCAU continuation with Justice League vs the Fatal Five. Also the fact that it was Tim Daly voicing Superman in Doom makes it pretty much the closest thing we have to if he had always stayed on voicing the character in the DCAU Justice League series instead of being replaced by George Newbern. Of course I love the premise of Doom as well and the idea of Batman's need to have contingencies for even his trusted allies having more fatal consequences than intended when they fall into the wrong hands. Crisis on Two Earths has a lot of good stuff in it too, especially Batman vs Owlman, though for me it also feels more awkward to watch knowing in the back of your mind that it was originally meant to be a movie for the DCAU Justice League that they ended up having to change just enough to make it stand more on its own, yet it's still left with things that you can tell were always intended to transition into JLU such as working on the teleporters for the new watchtower and expanding the league with new members. Doom feels more standalone by comparison because you know with that one they had to write the movie from scratch after dusting off and reworking the script for an unproduced DCAU Justice League movie for Crisis on Two Earths.

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but Superwoman is not Wonder Woman's counterpart. She is a Mary Marvel counterpart, like the "Made Men" that work for her are Marvel Family counterparts. That's why she has no lasso.

And even if it wasn't it's at a point where the Justice League has new members and what I'm trying to get at here is Batman is clearly shown in a lot of depictions to be a more softer, mellow character and symbol of "hope" as he ages. The TV show showed the League forming for the first time, it was Stewart not Hal. Hal exists, but he's not a main Leaguer. He might not even normally be a Lantern until AFTER Kyle and Stewart because Kyle's origin in the Superman show and look are more reminiscent of Hal until his redesign in one of the kater DCAU movies, which also shows by then Hal IS now a lantern.

I too am not a fan of Mr. Baldwin as Batman. He sucks and when I was younger and first saw the movie, I was VERY disappointed at what voice came outta that model. Now…James Woods was a surprise for me personally because I grew up with him on Family personally. Hearing this from him was honestly terrifying. There’s nothing more to say about Doom other than it’s perfect to me. No “flaws” get through to me lol it’s just perfect! Awesome video man! Oh and DEAD GRANDMA!!!!

I definitely think the book got it right based on what you said around their methods but the methods in the movie spoilt the whole movie. Makes me think why did they change it.

The thing about Contingency Plans they aren't always fool proof I hope one day a writer has the balls to write a storry showcasing that but the rabid Batman fans will show their true "psychodelic" colors and turn into the very villains Batman Fights 😂 The Multiverse stories is now being ran into the ground.
