@@eddyk1511 it’s garlic, but he calls it heartburn lol. The salt acts as an abrasive to get it down to that consistency but regular mined garlic (or garlic powder) can be substitutes.

This is the first shakshuka recipe I’ve ever seen without onions or garlic. I’m not saying it’s bad, but I thought those were essential to a good shakshuka. I use onions, garlic, and sometimes even leftover potatoes that have been diced.

I made this with bacon and lots of onions and it was amazing. I fried the bacon half way and then added onions and peppers, cooked for about 10 mins in low heat then added the tomatoes and spices. Cooked some more and then added eggs. It was delicious. I know bacon is not traditional but it tasted so much better 🥂

I have made shakshuka. Traditionally you add fava beans as well but that is your choice to add any type of beans or not. After that it is your show. Add whatever you think makes your shakshuka flavor pop. This is definitely the best breakfast in the world.
