Marius Breabăn what are some of the shoe brands you selected?
@breabanm6 жыл бұрын
@@stedye I live in Germany and I went for the lower end of the spectrum with Shoe Passion making up the backbone of my shoe collection. I can wholeheartedly recommend Shoe Passion on quality, just ensure that the shoes fit properly or you will be in a world of hurt. Literally. The shoe sizer printed from their German website gave me half a size (UK) more than what I needed. The first shoes I ordered from them seem to fit me well at first try on, but transformed into torture devices when I wore them longer. After this experience I went half a size down and the following pairs fit perfectly and never caused me any discomfort. I hope this helps.

As always Hugo, very interesting captivating video, I look forward to you part 2, I was ever so disappointing when i ran out of your videos to watch before the new year. As a Mixed Englishman I am a massive fan of Joseph Cheaneys shoes since Jonathan and William have taken them back to there heritage, particularly there imperial line than a certain person designed for them during his time with them (you can see a similarity between the imperials and the designers own of the shelf shoes) unfortunately Cheaneys are fading out the 208 last for the imperial in favor of a new last that l'm not as fond of. I will make a point to try a pair or two from Paris, Spain and Hungary this year starting with a trip to Paris where i will also try there suits as i do love the way the French do there solders. Cant believe i gave a French product a complement over a English one, but as you have also given your fair share of compliments to the English. Been meaning to send you a Message Thanking you for your videos as you can never imagine how much they helped me out of a time of server struggle, when i had almost seemed to have lost my passion for anything, two pacific videos that come to mind.

Meermin Shell Cordovan comes from two sources: Italian and Japanese. The Italian shell creases so it isn't shell. The Japanese is long lasting and has an amazing patina and shine. Unfortunately, it is very stiff and it will eventually crack even with good care. Meermin's soles wear as tough as JR soles. Regardless of the cracking Meermin Japanese shell is a great value, buy casual styles and wear them without worry they can take the scuffs.

When you called the Alden boots "tanker boots", the Army in me was like... nooo. Haha. Actual tanker boots are made with straps and buckles because laces can catch on fire. Great video, thumbs up.

Thank you Hugo and Sonya for your amazing content and being a guide for those of us beginning our sartorial journey! Thanks to your video I’m going to buy my first “real” dress shoes from Cobbler Union. I imagine they will last much longer than other shoes I’ve bought in the past. I’m having a hard time deciding if I should stick with a pair of Oxfords first or if I should go with double monk straps. I know Oxfords are classic but I really like the look of a double monk strap. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you both again, I look forward to watching even more of your videos!

My first suggestion is that you wait a few days, because we are about to launch a campaign with Cobbler Union with a special code (special discount, free shoe trees + free shipping). Send us a note at hugo@parisiangentleman.fr and we'll give you the code and our advice. cheers, Hugo

I agree with your comment regarding Hugo, 100%. I'm part of the natural bodybuilding community. I'm wondering why bodybuilders, or at least the ones I've known and seen, and this would include myself up until the last year, don't put more effort into style,....other than gym gear. You would think they would be at the forefront in some ways. They strive for health and aesthetics of the body, but seem to stop there, most of them. It's too bad.
@Mateo-et3wl6 жыл бұрын
@@westfieldartworks8188 most bodybuilders are spending their money on food and gear and let's be honest, they don't typically earn much money to begin with. I would love to see a well dressed finance/hedge fund bodybuilder but I'm pretty sure that doesn't exist.

What a great list. I was surprised no Allen Edmonds made the list. I have really enjoyed their quality and style, but I certainly am not one that can ever be considered a sartorial expert. Just a rube trying to learn. Good that I have none of the brands named. More to learn about! and buy! Merci for the videos!

Including a company like Carlos Santos but omitting Allen Edmonds is revealing about the nature of and motivations behind this list. Still, it has some useful information.

I usually only wear Northampton Goodyear welted shoes from Crockett and Jones and increasingly Cheaney! Blake stitch Italian shoes are lighter and have their place but I find them harder to wear for most of the year.

Good choices my friend. By the way, not all the Italian shoes are Blake constructed. More and more are GY, like Bonafè for example. Some of their shoes are even hand-welted. Cheers, Hugo
