station eleven has such strange elements (cults, theater, and comic books) but it intertwines with one another so well that it just works. honestly such an amazing short series with a surprising amount of tension and tenderness that I think more people should watch. for me, it showed what constitutes a family, especially after a devastating event where you must find safety in scarce places. i really recommend watching it if you can!!

Watched Season 1 of The Leftovers, noticed this show and watched it, and I'm back to watching The Leftovers now. They are both amazing shows and focus so much on how the character's feel. Must be what therapy's like. lol. I love the way Station Eleven often cuts back to certain memories for just a second or two because that's the moment that the character is being reminded of. I think most people reflect and constantly relate their past to the present like that in real life, so it really puts you in their shoes.

Tyler never armed the kids with weapons or had them go to war. When he was stabbed by Kirsten, the little girl you see at the very end took over the cult. Having been raised on Station Eleven, they wove their own story and armed themselves to kill the acting troupe. Tyler never wanted this. He acknowledged that the Undersea had grown out of his control. Big spoilers here, but more context: This is why ar the end, when Kirsten meets the girl with bombs in the airport, she shows her the actual comic book. Up to that point, Station Eleven was just a story repeated from the Prophet's head, so the Undersea treated it as divinity. After Kirsten showed her it was just a comic book, the little girl took the book and called off all the kids outside with weapons.

I finished station 11 two weeks ago and it’s genius. It’s beautiful, painful, celebratory, and just a depiction of humanity. I recommend it to everyone. Only thing is make sure you’re in the right pandemic mindset bc since they deal with a pandemic going badly as well it can feel distopic and you could end up feeling down. But still it’s an incredible and beautiful show.

What's cool about the book the show is based on is that it was published in 2014 meaning the idea pre dates Covid possibly 10 years before it was even a thing. Emily St. John Mandel is such a great writer and as such I hate people saying it's based off Covid or that she was inspired due to the current situation (not saying Noel thinks that), what's more likely/true is that it was developed because Covid is now currently occurring and thus makes the story relevant.

Would highly recommend for fans of the show. Also Station Eleven is based on the book by Emily St. John Mandel. Which is equally as good but has a lot of differences from the show.

This wasn’t my favorite dystopian novel and I’m a big believer in the book is always better than the movie/ Tv show. I’ve seen a couple episodes so far and I gotta say this is way better than the book. Can’t wait to finish it as the book did have some great parts and I remember enjoying how it ended.

I don’t think you’ll regret it. Don’t always trust reviews. I get bored pretty easily and usually just give up on shows halfway, but I finished all of this one and I have zero regrets. It hurts that it’s over. Jeevan and Kristin have a very special place in my heart, and I don’t think there will be a season two so I’m going to miss seeing them. The story telling was so real and beautiful. Most shows are pretty predictable but wow. Some parts completely caught me off guard.

Such a great show. So many emotions. I have a twisted love for things that break my heart into tiny little pieces and leave me devastated. This showed did that, but by the end it picked up all the pieces and helped me put them back together again. Fantastic story.

I read the book and absolutely loved it, and I’ve been planning on watching the show soon. It’s interesting hearing Noel say he hates theater but loved the show, because the genre of the book is pretty debated but most people land on « theater fiction » over sci-fi or post apocalyptic fiction.
