They way that the (Cherry) poster and the (Alien: Romulus) poster were combined is pretty clever and well done.

This movie was great. A few odd choices, like the weird action movie cut when adam catches the facehugger, but it also had absolutely amazing cenimatography when it came to shots of sapce and the rooms of the ship and station. And those planetary rings man, soo beautiful

The only jumpscare in this movie that got me was the final one. Gave me a pretty violent jolt!

Without spoiling the movie, the ending gave me serious alien: resurrection vibes that I was not expecting. It’s nice to know that Fede respects all the history of the alien franchise including 3 and resurrection.

I actually really liked Prometheus. I liked what it set up, it gave us a lot of burning questions. Only for alien covenant to really just subvert those expectations and ultimately just kinda was a subpar alien film compared to Prometheus

Just got back from the movie. This is honestly the best Alien film I’ve seen since the first two. Got one very minor nitpick gripe, but the movie is great in my opinion. And by God are there moments that made me uncomfortable.

Saw it today. I’m a huge fan of the original Alien and I thought they did a lot of interesting things with Romulus and really enjoyed it. It was a love letter for the franchise and can’t wait to rewatch it again!

It’s definitely a good movie. Definitely has a lot of inspiration from the previous films and does not disappoint with the action, suspense, horror and heart. The atmosphere, lighting, sets, props, sound effects and creatures were great. I hope there’s a sequel coming and I hope that it’s handled with the same care as this movie.

I'm so disappointed! I’m not saying the movie is bad-it’s just okay. My main issue with Romulus is that it doesn’t present anything new. There are no variations whatsoever. All that retro-futuristic aesthetic is there, and I counted up to 37 homage scenes, ranging from Alien to Covenant. Honestly, if you put Dead Space and Alien: Isolation together, you get Alien: Romulus in a nutshell. It’s also Don’t Breathe in space. We acknowledge Fede's efforts to please the true fans of the franchise, but I believe that's the major issue: too much nostalgia and not enough substantial content. In my opinion, to make Alien work, you must avoid focusing too much on the monster. It becomes too overwhelming. Everyone in the cinema was just waiting for the monster to show up, and when it finally did… no one reacted. It didn’t shock anybody except for some teenagers who have never seen an Alien movie before. The soundtrack was also a great letdown. It couldn’t hold a candle to the work of Jerry Goldsmith and James Horner. The only amazing thing for me was seeing "Ian Holm" back. It brought tears to my eyes, and I was so impressed with how realistic the technology was in bringing him back to "life" on screen. Romulus is overly self-explanatory, and sometimes it confuses the audience with all those technical terms and acronyms used to identify Xenomorphs. Another issue is that the Renaissance ship is so vast that we never really get a sense of where the characters are. It’s chaotic, with people running from one room to another, reminiscent of the cat-and-mouse chase in Alien 3. Finally, the ending-why? Why pay homage to Alien: Resurrection by introducing "that thing" at the end of the film? It didn’t add up. Pregnancy themes are serious matters, and scenes like that traumatic birthing sequence could hurt the box office. Many women might be uncomfortable with such imagery. In conclusion, I’d give it a 6 out of 10. It’s watchable, but it will never surpass Alien 1, 2, and 3 in my humble opinion. Pros The detailed homage scenes were simply amazing. The introduction of the relationship between the Corporation and Colonists, highlighting themes of submission and exploitation, was intriguing. The film effectively portrayed the hopelessness of life in space colonies, where people can barely see the sun. ROOK stood out as a memorable character. WETA DIGITAL AND ILM did an amazing work . GAME CHANGER FOR THE MOVIE INDUSRY!! The practical effects were fantastic, though not particularly groundbreaking. The cast delivered a solid performance, much better than the characters in Prometheus and Covenant. Both set design and sound design exceeded expectations-truly awesome. The film showed respect for the “no sound in space” rule in several key moments. Cons There was too much nostalgia and a lack of new, promising content to add to the franchise. The layout of the space station was confusing, leaving the audience lost as to where the characters were. The chestburster scene was disappointing-almost laughable. The film was overly self-explanatory at times. A robot that could hold a massive 2-ton steel door was somehow unable to take a punch from a Xenomorph. The soundtrack was completely out of tune with the Alien lore and barely resembled the iconic scores from previous films. The creature introduced at the end of the movie looked too much like an Engineer, which felt out of place.

(if ya know, ya know lol) alot of predicable things from the Alien franchise (NOT A BAD THING. i like it) amazing. loved the beginning scenes it reminded me of the old school pre cgi stuff. loved it. its gory but soft gory. like a 7/10 gore. that wasnt its main thing tho. just to terrify us lol. great review my G

Also really not the biggest fan of the final but if the movie. Was quite a bit disappointed in the final incarnation and the route they took to get there. Felt a bit contrived and telegraphed and I feel like it was quite on the nose and the graphics were such a departure from the rest of the film it really pulled me out and made me feel like I was watching a completely different movie all of a sudden

When I saw how close that station was to the planet my immediate initial reaction was a question; how is that thing out there just drifting and floating so close to a planet, AND NO BODY IS BOTHERED BY IT? Where are the rescue ships, or the right authorities or whatever the hell such things are called in the future 😂 dealing with a fucking drifting space station ffs?! How the hell can a ship with a couple of teens get so close to it, let alone dock onto it and then just roam around freely inside??? Right? Wth? They even made it come back online, and still NO BODY was bothered to come around and check on what the heck is happening up there?! This is VERY, VERY lazy directing. This momentum from the get go kinda was a deal breaker to me tbh... At this point I was like 'is this movie gonna be like this all over...?' (thank god turns out it wasnt mostly. Mostly...)

Honestly, if you put Dead Space and Alien: Isolation together, you get Alien: Romulus in a nutshell. It’s also Don’t Breathe in space. Fede had it in his hand. It would have worked perfectly even without this massive FAN SERVICE NOSTALIA-like approach to pay homage to the previous films. We acknowledge Fede's efforts to please the true fans of the franchise, but I believe that's the major issue: too much nostalgia and not enough substantial content. In my opinion, to make Alien work, you must avoid focusing too much on the monster. It becomes too overwhelming. Romulus is overly self-explanatory, and sometimes it confuses the audience with all those technical terms and acronyms used to identify Xenomorphs. Jesus !! too much technical terms to classify XENOS and nobody actually knows what exactly WY is doing with those creatures. Bioweapons? Human replacement in colonies? Creating a new kind of proto weapon? Enhancing the GOO´s abitily to mutate and change especies´DNA ? Another issue is that the Renaissance ship is so vast that we never really get a sense of where the characters are. It’s chaotic, with people running from one room to another, reminiscent of the cat-and-mouse chase in Alien 3. Finally, the ending-why? PROS • Homage scenes in details were simply amazing • Introducing aspects of the relationship between Corporation and Colonists ( Submission and exploitation ). • How hopeless it is to live a life in space colonies where people can barely see the Sun • ROOK • Fantastic Practical effects but not impressive • The Cast did a pleasant job better than those morons from Prometheus and covenant • Set design and sound design were above expected !! Awesome • Respect to “no sound in space” in some parts of the movie • The relation between Andy and Rain ( Machine and Humans ) . Moralility and Ethics • CONS • Too much Nostalgia and lack of promising Content to be added to the Franchise • People got lost inside the space station and we never know where we are • Chestbuster scene was a joke. Awful • Too much self-exaplanatory • Robot able to hold a massive 2Ton steel door but unable to take a punch from a Xeno. • Soundtrack completely out of tune and barely resembles the Alien lore • “the thing’ in the end of the movie looks like a f……Engineer • TOO MUCH FAN SERVICE . Bold but not bold enough!!! Much of the same !!! Recycling isn´t a good thing to do !! • Moral implications of bringing back the face of an actor without his consent and also because that person has been dead for some time in real life.

Alien 3 is ten times the movie Romulus is. This film had some okay set pieces, but the cast was all wrong and including garbage from prometheus sucked the life out of it. Some of the callbacks were embarrassing. Like did they literally have to dig up the alien from the original movie? I mean come on. 3/10

The cast was just so bland, I couldn’t get invested, lacked personality, the final boss creature had so much potential, but the luster went away after it was shown on screen, 5/10 for me as I just saw it a couple of hours ago, not a bad movie, Prometheus and covenant are better movies for me
