I feel they have very MINOR support when Endymion (iirc) dropped because I think you can add spell counters onto silent magician. Haven't experimented with it because I'm scraping dirt off of shoes to get any sort of gems I can find in the missions tab...

Pendulums got a heavy nerf with master rule 4 I think it was. You used to be able to summon as many face up pendulum monsters as possible from you extra deck. In the next format, they added the extra monster zone and link monsters and made it so that all monsters summoned from the extra deck could only be summoned the the extra monster zone or to a zone a link monster pointed to. They then revised the rules again and made it so that XYZ, Synchros and fusions could be summoned anywhere, however, they did not change that for pendulum monsters which still had to be summoned to the extra zone or to a zone a link monster points to. They went from being able to summon 5 pendulums every turn, as long as they were face up in the extra deck, to being restricted to one zone or a zone a link monster pointed to. The ruling doesn't apply to pendulums in you hand though. You can still summon as much of those as you like.

This needed to happen. Pendulums were taking over the game. I love the state of the game at the moment. Fusions, xyz, links, and pendulums all are played now. It's completely trap heavy too. I remember people would make fun of trap heavy decks cause they were too slow. The best part is that I've been seeing way more rogue decks than usual. People are actually trying to make their own deck with their own combos. I will admit though in platinum there are a lot of youtube decks Eldlich, Dytron, prank kids, etc. But at the very least I'm starting to see people mix meta decks with lower tier decks. Like Eldlich fused with Myutants Or Prank Kids mixed with earth bound immortals.

In addition to this, pendulums used to have their own dedicated zones, rather than being the leftmost and rightmost spell zones. So you could play 5 spell/traps as well as two pendulum cards.

I felt that 2nd match in my soul because today I fought a guy with a similar deck and he took over 15 minutes for 1 turn. The Gozen Match I activated on that guys next turn that destroyed basically all his monsters made it worth it though and I ended up winning by making him surrender later

It's so ridiculous that they can summon so many monsters, there should be a limit of how many monsters you summon. I am a very casual player, I love the god cards and original anime. It's crazy how much the game has changed since the beginning. But I have won some good duels against similar decks like this one. On one I messed up and could have won but missed the timing with ancient chant using Ra when you banish it to get the attack points of the sacrificed monsters.

7:30 Brief essay on history of Pendulum: When it was first introduced, Pedulum was meta defining due to the fact that for the cost of -2 from your hand you receive nearly unlimited summoning as long as your Pendulums were on the field. Since Pendulums also go to the top of the Extra Deck instead of the Graveyard, you had easy recovery from boardwipes. During this era, Pendulum had their own areas outside the main field much like Link does now, so you had full backrow as well. However, since Pendulum was so overwhelming, it was significantly nerfed with the new Master rule set when Links were introduced. No more Pendulum zones, instead you has to use your spell/trap zone. And while you can still Pendulum summon from your hand without any restriction, summoning your Pendulum monsters from your Extra Deck must go to your Extra Monster zone or any Link zones you have on the field. Pendulums are the only type to have this restriction kept after the Master rule was updated to allow unrestricted summoning of fusion, synchro and xyz. As such, most Pendulum decks are not considered worth the investment, except for a few exceptions such as Odd Eyes or Magicians.

7:12 To answer your question about pendulum decks, it's not that they suck but more so unnecessary. There are a few older decks that benefit from some pendulum monsters, Dark Magician actually comes to mind cause I'm in the process of building one, but for the most part pendulum monsters are something you have to build your entire deck around or they just don't need to be in the deck to begin with. They just play the role of monsters and spell card basically, with the added bonus of sometimes being able to special summon a whole array of monsters from your hand.

Coming from somone who built a God card deck (got 2 copies of all three from god rolls) their protections come from Mound of the Bound creator and Egyptian God slime. Obviously they have natural summon protections, but they really thrive with the field spell, God slime or both.They definitely need more support, specifically Slifer (my fav) as RA has amazing support and obelisk is pretty good already.

My guy. You should have tried the Arcana Knights for Slifer. There are cards for that deck that will let you summon Slifer during your opponents turn, and even search Sphere Mode. It's a fun rough deck.

To people having trouble dealing with crazy negate boards just add cards to deal with it. I made a deck without hand traps and it’s actually competitive because if I Dark Ruler or Forbidden Droplet it’s gg for them because I run 2 Lightning Storms and 3 Dark Holes lol. Very satisfying too

You just run lots of spells… with that many board wipes your deck won’t be consistent enough to pull of combos to set up OTK. removing their board to the grave doesn’t mean much if you can finish them off or set up your own board for negates, because most meta deck can reset those board next turn. Everything sounds good if you think you can pull every card you need for those situation but this card game is all about the chance and if you don’t have DR or Forbidden because you have nothing but DH and LS when they have indestructible boss monsters it’s gg. If stacking board wipe spell was effective then every meta should be using it.

Uria is better than slifer change my mind Proof: slifer’s attack has a typical max of 7 unless you play infinite cards which realistically your probably not gonna draw while uria is based on continuous traps in the graveyard and can be summoned with chaos summoning beast meaning you only need 1 tribute and because of the second effect of chaos you get the field spell fallen paradise which protects uria not to mention how many more cards can search for uria over slifer Also thanks to the field spell of the archtype he can’t be target nor destroyed by opponents card effects unlike the puny slifer which dies when I play raigeki Note:this is not meant to sound toxic

So the reason pendulum monsters see so little play rhyme is cause the master rules that excisted when link monsters were introduced limited extra deck summons to only the extra monster zone unless there was a link arrow pointing to that zone, pendulums that go to the extra deck are restricted by this rule but when they updated they didnt remove the restriction on pendulums so unlike all monsters in the extra deck who got all their zones back pendulums in the extra deck need the link arrows Also rhyme did you forget that defence position monsters can't be destoryed by battle if the atk = def

Pendelum is.ok if you get the right hand, but it can be used to summon cards like Blue Eyes without tribute Via Pendulum Call to boot the numbers to 2 and 9

You should check out Level Resist Wall with Exodia. It's hilarious. If a level 7 monster on your field is destroyed by battle or an opponent's card effect, you can use Level Resist Wall to summon all 5 Exodia pieces from your deck. Then (preferably), use Sound The Retreat to get all your monsters on your field back into your hand.

I feel you Rhyme, when there is a college thesis on a card, but I play Cyber Dragons. The cards have a decent amount of text, but no where near as much as the ones I see you complain about. I run Cyber Dragons because they are easy enough to understand for both me and my opponent since the text is not long, and the basic stuff is “This cards name is treated as Cyber Dragon on the field or the GY.”.

JPTHASTONER Yeah if I’m really lucky, I have Power Bond, 2 Cyber Dragon cards, and Limiter Removal if they have a gigantic Beatstick or used an effect that increased their monsters attack, or decreased my monsters attack. And if I was insanely lucky, I would have played One Day of Peace during my main phase 2 so I wouldn’t take damage from Power Bond, and damage from my opponent next turn. Or Rainbow Life where I could discard 1 card and gain life points instead of lose them whenever I would take damage until the end phase. I love Cyber Twin Dragon. Because unlike other cards in archetypes, usually when more materials are required it is just better by definition. But Cyber End Dragon can’t attack twice, but it does piercing damage. So each monster has purpose and not necessarily straight better or worse.

I surrender at times in this game on purpose when I’m facing someone who literally take too long to end their turn like making solitaire moves. I think sometimes they do that on purpose to see where our patient level is on. But I did beat 2 people who was doing things like that, then when my turn came, they instantly rage quit the moment they saw my Cyber Dragon Infinity and Sky Thunder.

To answer Rhyme on the Pends, Pendulum in the TCG is unutilized a.k.a bad due to the only viable pen archtype being Pend Magicians. And Electrumite is banned in the TCG. It's not banned in MD so it's slightly more viable here than in the normal game.

Thing is is that you could've waited on that soul crossing. It would've pushed him to play alternative earlier but you couldn't and should've kept numeron network in hand. It's call a back up for that reason. You could've baited soul crossing on that judgment. Then used network if it got stop.

Should try a gravekeeper deck! Lockdown graveyards with necrovalley and has support cards that can stop special summoning and a card that empty monsters out of the hand. If you turn 1 get the cards you need then the opponent has nothing to summon and they just quit lol

i still play pendulums to this day. i don't understand why people hate pendulums so much when they get EXTREMELY nerfed when links became a thing. Despite that nerf, i still run my pendulum deck to this day.

Pendulums are great. I think one reason why they were hated was that the Anime and the Artwork of the cards was just stupid. I mean odd eyes looks fine but not really interesting. And PePe is a fucking clown based deck that was way too overpowered. But now they are pretty cool. The whole Endymion archetype is great (except those whole essays of text) and Mythical beasts work really well with them while also having good artwork. Also the spell counter mechanic works relally well for pendulums
