souls games are basically just great rpg games yeah? lots of weapon and equipment customisation, great combat systems, rewarding gameplay mechanics - just sounds like a good video game to me - the main thing is upgrading items I think, sekiro was silly having only 1 sword, ERing was silly not being able to upgrade armour - I know these are intentional mechanics, but I think one of the key things about DS1 was being able to upgrade weapons and armour, it felt like it had so much more depth imo

8:22 I had to go back an rewatch this part a few times . The spinning axe throw, followed up by the dash forward leading into the parry and that incredible combo was some absolutely nasty work. 🤯😳 Between the art unique style and color palette used, smooth movement and combat, overall challenging gameplay. and the new addition of up to 8 skills that you can slot for use during combat, this game is shaping up to be one of best souls-like games that has been recently released. As long as the performance holds up, and there’s a good variety of enemies + character customization (armor and different builds) + weapons + unique environments and areas of the game that differ from one another, this might get in the top 5 of Souls-like games ever made. Let’s hope all goes well and more people show interest in this new upcoming title. Side note: In my opinion my top 3 souls games would have to be: 3.) Sekiro 2.) Elden Ring 1.) Bloodborne

Played DFO growing up, as a berserker main, makes me shed a tear seeing that this is looking to be a genuinely GOOD game. Hopefully you can use the trademark Zanbato/greatsword with that gore blade on the offhand.

But it would make this less souls like, and more like devil mcry lmao I believe this game was originally going to be “project bbq” which is the 3D version of DFO, but it might’ve been too ambitious so they just made the game revolve around one class, and im glad they chose their iconic zerker.

I waiting on a review of Khazan. This what I was hoping for, although it always easier to say you no care how many time you die, and respawning and facing difficult boss over and over and over again. Maybe this game choose YOU. Not the other way around, as to whether you 'worthy' or not. I hope I can play this. Too difficult better than too easy. I remember 'Wo Long.' Game make no sense to me. I no play Team Ninja game. I stall at first boss. And I have no intention of ever playing it again. But after some of 'Nioh 2,' first boss fight suddenly make sense. So. It actually cool to have game that is too hard, and you can check in in a year or 6 month. This a great clip. TY :)

I’m doing the beta now, and I’m digging it. It’s responsive, even the parries. And I’m not great at them usually. And difficulty is there with the bosses so far, I beat Consort in shadow of the erd tree on my second attempt, I’ve currently spent about 40 mins on the yeti boss. It really encourages parries, dodging is fast and responsive, but not as effective as the parry.

I just played the beta on PS5 and can confirm the game is incredibly hard. It took me over 7 hours to finish what they had playable and two of the bosses took me over two hours. The combat is very much Sekiro-like in the sense it is all about performing perfect parries. Now, maybe later in the game the skills allow you to break the game more like Elden Ring, but in those first 7 hours, I played, they are quite low impact and you need to just perform. I loved it and I think it's an auto buy for all souls enjoyers.

I’m liking this trend of holding a trigger or bumper and then mapping skills or actions to the face buttons, as it allows for far more options available at any one time. I was really hoping before this generation of consoles came out that we would get extra face buttons and back paddles on controllers as a standard feature as it would have allowed for more and better button mapping, giving developers way better options for mapping buttons in general. Really disappointed this didn’t happen, instead on PlayStation we got a touch pad again that only some developers take advantage of e.g Sucker punch, Ghost of Tsushima, but then Xbox has no such feature on its controller, again limiting developers options for buttons mapping and layouts. I really hope we see next gen consoles and controllers take this into consideration.

For example, i loved sekiro, but stellar blade never felt "right" for me. Good thing there's a LOT of action games for us to pick from!

I adore slower souls likes, I absolutely LOVE bloodborne and Lies of P, I am TERRIBLE at sekiro and probably wont ever win that game and I was actually not interested in stellar blade combat (and most typical japanese combat games to be honest). So purely parry and combo based playstyle doesnt work for me, but methodical combat is my jam. What a time to be alive to have so many options

Games today are just too f**king easy and cater to casuals way too much and I find I often times have to play on the hardest to level to have my interest peaked.
