I ordered this guy when he came out and still have him. Uses him for a week and he's been on my shelf since. As an OG G1 fan, you don't know how cool it was to finally have a functioning Soundwave.

The pre-g1 and Japan only versions of a lot of g1 toys were functional. Both proto-Megatron and Browning fired little pellets, pre-blaster was a functional radio, and preceptor was a functional microscope. Unreleased was a flashlight and binoculars, who cameoed in Dreamwave comics.

You can buy a cheap, small, unpowered mono speaker and connect it to the shoulder/headphone socket. Then, you can paste some G1 Soundwave voice/sound effect samples and now it can speak!

On off button is press and hold down the play/pause button for about 3-5 seconds. I love the novelty of this guy. Got him with blaster from the same line. He changes into a laptop alt mode that has 4 working usb ports:) fun little office toys to be sure:)

Bro my version has paint chip marks on the thighs due to the transformation. They're small but very noticeable 😢 It's the flat part under the buttons that has marks. It has to scrape on the top of the waiste to transform. Its also the blaster black version 😅

I got these when they came out, intending for them to be my go-to MP3 players . . . and then, as is usual for Soundwave, the technology of his alt-mode quickly became obsolete. The Rumble & Frenzy headphones are nifty to have as novelties and collectibles, but they don't work spectacularly well, either.
