For 40 years, I’ve been windsurfing just for fun. Then, 3 years ago, I bought a speedboard, some camber sails and a Locosys GW60. From that moment on, things were complicated, new, frustrating, exiting, breathtaking and… fun.

Hi Mario! Sweet video as usual. Minor correction from the statement that “there is a lot of crime in the south of France”. I am from here and it is safe. We have tons of visitors and very little “problems”. I just don’t want people to get the wrong idea and not come here. You might have referred to bigger cities like Marseille, Montpellier, which is understandable. But I can assure you any place on the coast from Sete to the Spanish border is safe for visitors. Locals will welcome you with open arms. Minor correction. Love your content. Thanks for your understanding.

Hello, since you’re a local I thought I ask. I’m staying in Porteragnes for a week and want to get out windsurfing, looking for a good spot where I can rent gear. Do you have any advise?

It was an amazing day. - fun to see you 2 flying as well... our GPSs indicated 100+ km of fun & we kinda ignored the speeds. So happy and satisfied at the end so we finished with some fun head rolls on the beach due to pure happiness... Warning for other people, beware this spot can be very sketchy, even dangerous, mind your safety !

Hi Mario. This spot is "le rouet" , the construction is used to hold the pipe wich is used to fill the salt ponds you’ve seen before with sea water to extract the salt . This spot is amazing . I have learn windsurf on those salt ponds !😂

Just a FANTASTIC video!! Thanks Mario. You are a great windsurfer but demand so much respect for being humble and giving others credit where they are very tuned into specific conditions, locations, and gear. Big thanks to the one(s) you have taking the videos. BTW, where was your buddy Nils? Was this too much for him (haha) - I really like the videos you two make together.

Excellent video, Mario. Looking good! Don’t worry too much about matching or beating the professionals or those that sail there all the time. Like you said, without your GPS that would have just been a great session!

Great video Mario. It takes a bit to get used to speed sailing. It is a little different to normal sailing and can really get you out of your comfort zone. Don't let it get you down, we all have off days when we feel everyone else is faster. Best to ignore other people's speeds, you are competing against yourself really. It is mostly about getting comfortable with your gear and the conditions, so lots of speed runs and tuning to see the effects, maybe take notes on what works and is faster, then build on that. Just remember the faster you go, the harder it is to go a little faster the next time.

Hi Mario, Nice video! La Palme isn't the place where you "just go to" and break your records... I know... Advice on how to go faster has already been given, a smaller fin. Also, you "slalom surfers" stay on too big boards too long! Yes, your 97L does 40kts, with a 2m tall 108kg experienced guy on it.. Why don't you get a smaller board?
