Nick: dude, total mad props for your features with the “every athlete”. Some guys may go out there and try and highlight only elite guys and girls, but you are out there showcasing EVERYONE--it speaks to your character, and it’s much needed in our day and time, so thanks! In the 90s, I ran a half marathon in Parkersburg Wva which was the USATF National Championship at the time and I spoke to former champ, Jon Sinclair after the race after he sat down on the sidewalk curb beside me.....a great moment for me to pick the brain of one of the greats if only for a minute. @bananachip I’ve seen several reviews saying that they aren’t very durable, and I know owners of the shoes who’s pairs have had issues. Even if the shoes lasted 5 races I’d bet money that they would still sell well due to the hype behind them.

@@nick5422 I’m gonna be honest they probably won’t last a long time BUT it depends on your event and foot strike really, I’ve raced in mine for 9 track races + some practice, and they still look and feel great and I could honestly use it for next track season and I think mine is still doing good because of how I use them. I’ve used them a couple of times in practice but that was to break them in and I’ve used the spikes in the 800 and mile and they’re still great. Also about the foot strike, if you land on your heel then they’ll mess up and not last long because there’s not a lot protecting the zoom X foam and that is very sensitive because it will start to mess up like for example the zoom x foam will separate a little bit off the plastic that’s on the midfoot which isn’t good. The spike is aggressive and should make you stay up on your toes so it’s not meant for everyone because it will hurt your calves. But overall it’s a great spike in my opinion but if you want something that may last longer and better for events like the mile up to the 5k, then you should get the dragonfly of you can.
@tylerstogsdill3 жыл бұрын
I had the air zoom victorys, but I had to send them back because the midsole tore away from the spike plate :/ they haven’t been in stock for months so I can’t get another pair. I ran my pr 800 in them(my first ever 800). I’ve yet to actually beat that time so I can say they give a good 2 second improvement. And I stand by that.

I'm trying to decide what spikes to use for my sophmore collegiate cross country season. Most of our guys wear Nike matumbo 3s although they are a track spike. The Cross Country specific are the Nike Victory XC 5. Either one should be good. I use the matumbos but I might get the Vic XCs soon.
@andrewsteavpack90793 жыл бұрын
Depending on what region you’re in you can wear a track spike meant for 3200 or longer events typically a 4 spike design. The hoka spikes have interested me, Nike makes a long event spike and the Brooks Wire model replacement would all do well for grassy courses. I would not use a spike if you have lots of paved or rocky courses, bc the benefit will be minimal but increases chance of wiping out and just pressure points.

@@andrewsteavpack9079 most of the courses are very grasses with minimal pavement across the board. I believe only one course really had any pavement. What hoka or brooks spikes would you suggest? @andrewsteavpack90793 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanwiggins7017 I’ve personally ran in the Brooks Wire on grassy courses and I’ve liked them for that. But the Hoka Speed Evo spikes and Nike Spike Flat look like they would possibly be better, the Adidas Avanti possibly too. I’d see what your teammates use and what they would suggest though. I personally think track spikes are more effective on grass courses than an XC spike though. XC spikes are definitely better on more uneven or rocky courses
