Just wanted to chime in and say thanks! I was fortunate to have been a part of the design/build team (practical sets) on each and every ship and fighter. ❤

That's awesome mate. I always thought the 304s were great looking ships. They just have that look that screams military vessel when you first look at it and the design really looks like the people of Earth built it, very much reminds me of blue navy military vessels. What I love about this franchise is that every tech can be traced back to an epsiode when they found it/stole it/bought it/developed it. I really hope someone with a bit of competence and a decent writing team will pick the IP up and do something good with it.

That is amazing. Those were some very cool ships. Although the ships in this video are absolutely fantastic, I am partial to the ship used by the quirky guy Martin and his friends in S5 e12 Wormhole Extreme. Also it would have been nice to see ships from the Tollans and the Nox. Thanks for contributing to one of my favorite TV shows.

The best thing about Stargate is seeing the evolution of Earth from 90's tech to intergalactic superpower. Seeing each Tau'ri ship for the first time was a special event.

That was an excellent compilation! I just got back into re-watching the whole series from beginning. I still can't belive that it's been almost 30 years since SG1 came out.

Stargate - even though it was on tv for so long and was so successful - still feels like a franchise/ universe that has barely touched the surface in terms of its possibilities.

I wish the viewers could've seen Destiny with all the lights on. That was a ginormous set with an amazing amount of detail that was never seen. Art, construction, and set dec were "firing on all cylinders." We were still adding to the already huge build when the show was canceled.

Destiny is possibly the least technologically advanced ship we see in the franchise, it doesn't even have a hyperdrive, by far the worst ship the ancients ever built
@NATIK0015 ай бұрын
I think the Travelers deserved a mention, they are the only humans besides Tau'ri we see with their own interstellar fleets based on their own designs. We know the Tollan also had interstellar ships, but we never saw them and the other humans we see with interstellar capability usually use ships designed and built by another race/empire. Talking about Ancient warships while only off-hand mentioning the Atlantis cityship and only showing but not even mentioning the Aurora class is almost sacrilege, they are both much more important starships to the Ancients than the Destiny and the Puddlejumpers, with the Puddlejumpers arguably not even being starships, since they do not have hyperdrives and have to rely on stargates or other ships to go anywhere. I also question the idea that Ha'taks can detach their inner pyramid from their outer parts, it's never seen or mentioned on show. If it happens anywhere it must be in secondary canon somewhere. That said the Ha'tak are notoriously inconsistent, more so than any other ships on the show, just look at the shots shown in this video, where the CGI shows them as three sided but the spec drawings shown off by Carter shows them as four sided. The show never seemed able to decide on their actual dimensions. Last little nitpick is calling the original Prometheus hyperdrive a reverse-engineered Goa'uld drive. It was really a brand new design only loosely based on the core idea of hyperspace travel, which the Tau'ri first saw in action on Goa'uld ships. The Naquadriah hyperdrive was unique in a number of ways, but was also a total failure of Tau'ri design. It was replaced by a drive straight up lifted from a Goa'uld Alkesh, and that drive was then replaced by an Asgard designed and built drive.

I’d classify any ship that can travel to different star systems as a star ship, no matter how it does it

The aliens hidden on earth in SG1 also have spaceships.

Star Trek ships can also dip into a star with it's metaphasic shields. And those glowy things in front of the nacelles are called ramscoops or bussard collectors. Their job is to collect stellar matter for conversion to fuel. Just pointing out that someone did this concept first.

You didn't cover any of the more special dreadnought style ships like Anubis or the Wraith Super Hive. Or any of the smaller races.

I never realized stargate was underrated. I guess I'm still thinking of the days or yore when it was playing twenty times a week. It definitely gets the prize as the sci fi franchise with the fewest totally stupid episodes. That deserves some acclaim, especially with the Acolyte out.

Those were the good old days! These days it’s treated like an afterthought sadly.

@@GiantFreakinRobot Probly a good thing that the franchise has been forgotten. We dont want the people making current Sci-fi to try and make anything new in it.

Worth noting all the dimensions stated in here are surmises. The Gate franchise refused to ever give out any hard numbers for any of the ships. There are no “official” sizes (They had a reason for doing this)

Question, where did the idea of the pyramid separating from the super structure come from? It was never shown in the show nor mentioned.

Because the superstructure is a weapons platform.

I never got into Stargate. Every time I came across it when zapping through channels, it was just a bunch of stereotypical looking 90s era TV actors walking around the same forest in their fake military gear and running into people wearing the same generic "burlap peasant outfits" and saving them from dudes wearing cheap LARP latex-ey looking versions of those Egyptian god themed masks from the movie. Every single episode seemed to look exactly the same and have basically the same plot. I gathered as much as that there apparently was space battle CGI stuff in later seasons of the show, but at that time I was already over it. I got enough of that from apparently better shows like Babylon 5 or the new Battlestar Galactica.
@GiantFreakinRobot5 ай бұрын
Try Stargate Atlantis or Universe. You don’t have to spend two seasons walking through the forest to get to the good stuff with those shows.
