Wonderfull video on a wonderfull class of ships!! Prometheus was not a perfect ship, but was an excelent test bed for the advancements that will gave birth of the Deadalus class. I would take command of one without hesitation!!

If I could choose, I'd command the General Hammond. Not just for the namesake, but for the fact it's systems were installed during construction, instead of being installed via a series of upgrades.

Among many other things, what I like the most about the Daedalus class ship is it's practicality. Everything about it, from its turtle-esque design being both compact and very defensive to the way many of its compartments can seamlessly be retooled to act as replacements for others, to the way it was designed to be flown with just a barebones crew of four people. This is a ship that feels like it has a lot of military (specifically air force, for good reason) input behind it. Also, the Horizon Weapons Platform: the definition of "there's no kill like OVERKILL."

The BC 304 is my all-time favorite scifi ship. With the F 302s fighters And I believe if you took a fleet of these, they could turn the tide of war in many other scifi universes. Star wars, Halo, Mass effect, and startrek, to name a few.

Just as easy to take out and much less damage potential given they have to carry smaller missiles and a pilot and everything to protect themselves with. They're only useful against other fighters and can't do anything the a ship a missile can't do much better while being even easier easier for the ships missile defence to destroy.

3:06 "missile tubes", trace the section to behind it where there are windows, THAT is where bridge of the ship is actually located, as evidenced by "SG1" and "SG Atlantis" series. 4:25 (as pointed out by other youtubers and what I as well mistook for land on pier), no, the Deadalus landed on the water beside the piers/between them. (feasibly the Daedalus needed to preserve power to make repairs, the ship's repulsorlifts could probably remain engaged to keep the ship afloat.

You missed the 2 smaller hanger bays between the main hanger pods, and the central hull. These seemed to just be for smal auxiliary craft, and wasn’t used in the show as far as I can remember. But we’re mentioned in descriptions, and can be seen n close fly bys.

The Daedalus class was a logical advance given that the Earth needed a new flagship capable of both defending Earth and itself. The Prometheus was neat, but the Daedalus brought the concept to fruition. I just wish we'd seen some smaller escort ships for a proper space fleet. The 302s aren't adequate as proper escort craft. I wish we'd seen something like a smaller/streamlined Daedalus, maybe even a toned down Prometheus. Keep the escort ships as FAST as the main ship, but have them more akin to a gunboat to pair with the Ships of the line. I'm imagining fleet groups akin to BSG or the US Navy Carrier strike groups. The central ship would be a BC-304 with multiple craft in support roles. Maybe even a dedicated carrier vessel for 302s alongside the 304s. I would like to command the odyssey, solely because I could have her cloaked and use a wing of Lantean jumpers, borrowed from Atlantis or other Ancient remnant bases, as the attack wing. Something akin to the Klingon BoP, but bigger and better armored/armed.

Stargate's best ship is the O'neill Class. It has everything a 304 has but just much better. The exception being the plasma beam weapons but since the Asgard just invented the tech, were they to still exist, it would have it now.

What I absolutely hate about ANY spaceship designs lately is the lack of a propper weaponry. They design them as lineships. Bunch of tiny turrets on them. If Im making a ship that is EXPECTED to be in a ship to ship combat then put one massive spinal mount weapon. Anything else is just bloody AA gun.

The two side hangar bays are reminiscent of the Galactica. The Daedalus is much faster than Star Fleet Trek ships, with intergalactic capabilities, though humans independently discovered warp drive, while the Daedalus relies on Asgard ftl and beam weapon tech.

The Prometheus was a test bed. I think it would have been more expensive to make. I don't know what purpose the chassis would serve. Because I figured they improved the chassis of the Daedalus class. To work better with all the technology they stole and were given.

2:58 that is not where the Bridge is, the Bridge is located behind the VLS tubes center of the ship. My best guess is the graphic is highlighting flight ops for the 302's. The 304's conducted water landings next to piers of Atlantis not on the piers.

The Prometheus class with a single Asgard core upgrade and better shields engines and weapons would make a great Tin can style destroyer with several swarming cruiser size ship to overwhelm them and still have cargo room for commerce. It would be a great screening ship and support ship to the heavier ships Earth produced… cheap and effective ,,,, anti-pirates missions and patrol missions where using capital ships would be over kill… for every Daedalus ship their should be 20 Upgraded Prometheus ship. Earth needs a bomber , a dedicated heavy weapons battle ship, planetary shield with orbiting weapons platforms layered around Earth and her colonies.

650m long would put it on the same scale as the Enterprise D, a ship that holds a crew compliment approximately five times larger than that of the Daedalus. While I would agree that the ship is large, I don't agree that the two are about the same size. That said, you did a good job on the video, but you did get a couple things mixed up: When pronouncing Tsun Zhu, the T is silent (ie: Spoken like "Sun Zoo"). Also: The Tsun Zhu was not adrift in the Sol system, but in the expanse between our galaxy and Pegasus. Col Ellis states as much in his transmission to Stargate Command, when he reports in their failed attempt to stop the Wraith super hive in Atlantis' final episode. To answer your question, I don't think the Oddessy gets enough love! It's a proven vessel that has gotten the kinks worked out, and is more than capable to do the job assigned to it!

There is no way it's almost 700m long, that just doesn't stack up with any imagery we've seen. The lower estimate is far more convincing. To put that in perspective it makes it longer than a Galaxy class from Star Trek and almost as wide. It's a good looking ship, one of my favourites in fact, but there is no chance its that big. For a frame of reference look at any of TNG's hangar bay scenes to give you a comparison to human size and you can see how big the hangar bay doors are compared to the rest of the ship. Not a chance the Daedalus is that big.

Watch the Trecyards video where they work with the official CG model of the ship. They proove the ship is almost 700 meters long. Just fit the F-302 to the hangar bay door and youbalready see it or tbere is an episode when Sam float in space and they fly close to her there you also see the real size of the BC-304!

My guess would be that after a decade Earth could produce a BC-304 at least daily with the technological advancement of the Asgard technology. Just make a big 3d printer send it into the asteroid field and let it make the superstructure then send it to another 3d printer that did other things until it's done, if not just make it from a single 3d printer. What I never understood is why the nations on Earth doesn't increase their presence in the solar system, at least a shipyard which probably would speed up construction of ships. Maybe it's because the technology was less advanced then 2020 which make it easier to talk like I do because computers and phones have advanced rapidly since early 2000 not to mention other things. If they do make a new Star Gate series, I wonder if they going to make a time skip and use Asgard, human hybrid technology and maybe also integrate some Ancients technology.

one of the best parts of this ship though is... its "real." I don't mean its a real world ship, but in universe every single piece of teck for it, we've seen aquired... we know where the metal for the hull was mined, we know where the fuel is mined, we know where the shields came from, etc. we've seen earth GET everything from the engines through a space race, rail gun turrets from area 51, mining operations from aliens. this makes it more then just a, poof heres a ship.. to something the show earned... worked for.. built up to and finally shows off. add to that the ship has a "real world feel" with the rail guns primarly acting like point defense guns.... the VLS launch tubes, the hanger bay, something almost every earth warship adopted to carrier helicopters.

To me, Daedalus looks like a cross between a Klingon K'tinga Class battlecruiser, and Ron Moore's Battlestar Galactica. Yet, Stargate makes its own ship look pretty original. Now, viewers, deluge MGM with letters asking for Stargate's return, with Brad Wright and Joseph Mallotzi at the helm. While you're at it, get MGM to craft a satisfying conclusion to SGU. Canceling a serialized TV show without having any conclusion to its story arc. With a franchise installment, not adequately concluding an iteration with dramatic satisfaction for the audience. It's also good for athe franchise as a whole, as it allows dedicated viewers to more easily understand the overarching cannon. Do you think NBC honchos, upon reflection, regret canceling Star Trek in 1969? What about that post-mortem-contrived ending for Star Trek Enterprise? Or, Discovery, for that matter?
