Better than the mcColloch 1385? I have a ford fusion I'm trying to detail 😊

I've never used the McCulloch but do know and talked to people who use them. The main difference between them is the Dupray gets hotter and makes a wetter steam which I prefer.

@AllAmericanMack3 жыл бұрын
I've looked at it's main competitor, the McCulloch 1385 and while it looks like a good machine, it doesn't put out as much heat as the Dupray does at only 212°. The 275° heat of the Dupray is on par with much more expensive steamers. The main advantage that I see with the McCulloch 1385 is that it has a larger boiler so it gives you up to 120 minutes of steam versus the Dupray at about 40-45 minutes. It's pretty rare that I need to steam something that long though. I've had mine just over two years so far and it's still working fine with moderate use I would still highly recommend it, especially for the price.

@@AllAmericanMack Thanks for the response ! Mine is officially on order and im waiting anxiously to give her a whirl. I do have one other question, is there s long wait time between fill ups once you run out of steam ?
@AllAmericanMack3 жыл бұрын
They "suggest" a certain amount of time, I can't remember how long but it's a while, to let it cool and for the pressure to lower. I don't want to wait all that time so I use a towel to turn the cap enough to start releasing the pressure and quickly move my hand away. It will be ready again in just a few minutes and I always refill it with hot water.

Great video. I just purchased this used. I like this steamer, but I noticed that the steamer has dry steam and when I use it on my car interior, I don’t really see the water come out unless I get all the way on the surface and hold it there, but in this video, it looks like she was shaking the steamer gun and the water was coming out. Is this more effective? Or was I looking at the video wrong?
@AllAmericanMack3 жыл бұрын
Your experience is correct, you'll only get an appreciable amount of water/moisture if the tip is very close to the surface. The shaking was really just moving it back and forth quickly, it won't make more water come out.

Hello, I just found this video and wanted to know how is this machine holding up today (2022), and if you have experienced any scaling issues... If so, how have you descaled it?
@AllAmericanMack2 жыл бұрын
I still use it frequently and have not had any problems with it. I've descaled it several times now, not due to any clogging or anything like that, just preventive maintenance. I don't remember what the recommended % of vinegar/water is but I use 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water and let it sit for around half an hour before dumping and rinsing. When I descale I get a *lot* of gunk out of it but that's probably due to me not dumping the water out of it when I'm done. I still recommend the Neat and don't think there's a better machine out there for the money.

Is the machine supposed to give a solid run time of 50 minuets? Mine currently goes between “ready” and “not ready” every minute- it’s frustrating because I need to keep stopping and going.. I’m wondering if I’m missing something
@AllAmericanMack3 жыл бұрын
I've never timed it but it seems like it does run at, or at least close to the stated time. Do you mean that you stop using it when the light turns orange? If so, you can still use use it while it's orange, it just means that it's not at max temp. Mine always cycles between green and orange while it's being used and I've never noticed any difference in performance.
@PastorTom20092 жыл бұрын
I've heard that the McCulloch puts off more water because it doesn't heat to that high of a temp. I really don't want a lot of water, but more steam. Is that your experience with the Neat?
@AllAmericanMack2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is and while I've never owned the McCulloch, that's the same information I found when researching it. I've been 100% happy with the Neat and don't think it can be beat for the price. Mine is 3+ years old now and has been completely reliable, just an occasional descale and it keeps running like a top.

It was mainly some spots on the fabric and to help clean some dust and gunk out of areas. Also, even vinyl and plastic cleans up easier if I hit it with the steamer then wipe it. But you're right, it wasn't excessively dirty.

Thanks for the video, I’ve been thinking of purchasing a Nest. How thick is the towel you’re using when cleaning vinyl or leather? How do you ensure the steamer doesn’t hurt the dash vinyl or the thin veneer on the center console/panel?
@AllAmericanMack4 жыл бұрын
The towel/bonnet I was using is about as thick as a regular wash cloth. I think as long as you don't spend too long on a particular area it shouldn't be a problem, that's why I kept it moving. Funny thing is, if I steam an area then touch it immediately after, it's really not that hot.

The steamer by itself doesn't leave a scent but you can use some fragrance tablets. Some came with mine but I never used them but I know Dupray and others make them. They go in some of the larger tools (between the tool and the microfiber cloth) and as the steam hits them, they leave whatever scent they happen to be. I personally like no scent at all but that's probably only because I've been using and smelling scented deodorizers for the last 20 years doing carpet cleaning.

It says that you used the Dupray steam cleaner to clean the exterior. Did you use the steam cleaner to clean the whole exterior of the car? how long did all of the cleaning take? I actually just ordered one today. thanks in advance :D
@AllAmericanMack4 жыл бұрын
I used a foam cannon to clean most of the exterior if the vehicle, I show it in the video posted before this one. Other than the interior, I only cleaned the wheels with the steamer but I have used it on certain exterior parts of my truck. I clean the chrome bumpers and running boards with it. I also clean the grill and the front of the hood with it to remove bugs, and if course the rims to remove brake dust. I guess you could clean the whole exterior with it as long as there isn't a lot of dirt or grit so you don't scratch the paint. For example, when I clean the front of the hood with it, I wash the truck first, then use the steamer to remove the bugs, same process with road tar. I find it makes quick work of all that. Sorry I wasn't clear on what exterior parts I cleaned.
