The BEST Street Food in Tulum

I get the question all the time - where is the best street food in Tulum? It's true that i've spent an inordinate amount of time exploring and diving Tulum - far more than most Americans you'll ever meet, and this video is long overdue on the subject of the best street food in Tulum!
Street food is a fundamental element of Mexican culture in the Yucatan. While Tulum is popularly known for its pristine tropical beaches, Mayan heritage, eclectic culinary venues, cave diving, cartel violence, and in the past few years - its unrivaled tenure as the unparalleled Instagram hot spot in Mexico for tourists who thrive on posing for photos in front of trendy art installations - it is also the epicenter of exceptional street food in the Mayan Riviera.
Tacos al pastor, tortas, burritos, esquites, and churros are just some of the mainstays you can expect to discover when exploring the streets of Tulum, or the neighborhood at the southern end of town, the perpetually growing district of La Veleta. During last week's diving expedition, we had a bit of down time, and I couldn't think of a better way to spend an evening than indulging in the best street food in Tulum.
One thing i'd like to make very clear about this Tulum Vlog - it took me years to find these venues (after consistent trial and error), and there are dozens of other street food stalls which fully deserve to be showcased in their own right. What makes the best street food in Tulum, is a combination of flavor, consistency, preparation style, and value. At least, in my perspective.
In this Tulum Vlog, Peter and I go in search of the best street food in Tulum, so if you're considering a trip in the near future - you'll have an ample head start on where to eat! I encourage you, thoroughly, to head out and discover your own favorite street food in Tulum - because you never know - you might just find that hidden gem, or new comer to the scene - in need of well earned recognition.

Everything including drinks, Looks amazing but I gotta ask. How safe is the ice in the drinks here for foreigners

That's a great question. And the reality is - ice in Tulum can occasionally make you sick. For the most part - bars/restaurants purchase ice that is made from treated potable water, or water that is the product of reverse osmosis. If you're dabbling in street food or drinking cocktails in local bars - you can always ask where the ice came from. You should never drink water in Tulum straight out of the tap (typically that water comes from a rain cistern or potable water delivery truck).

I have not been to that particular line of stands on Ave Coba, but i'm sure there are a few impressive vendors. Taco stand real estate on Avenida Satellite is fierce! And there are more vendors arriving to the area every week.

Not all of these places are well represented on Google maps. Would be awesome if you would add links in description to the location. Burro Tulum is unfortunately closed. Not sure if it is temporary or they stopped their business.

Absolutely! I'll put a few links to my favorite street food venues in the description. I suspect Burro is temporarily closed for the "low" season in Tulum, and will resume their normal wood fire magic after New Year's when the tourism picks up.

Well, I knew I was done with this food tour with the first place. The meat was cut as soon as it came off of the grill and it snapped like a rubber band. I am sure that was really good and chewy.
