the “I saw Carter at a grocery store” joke might be the nichest I’ve ever understood
@hajoyeve61863 жыл бұрын
I saw Carter at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first, he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I so expected Tocantins, it had the simplest storyline with a generally good cast. It has very clear alliances and a satisfying watchthrough+winner. totally agree! tocantins is my personal favorite to this day. no other cast of characters has quite reached that level. the only thing I could maybe see working against it as a first watch is that it could set people up for disappointment in regards to winners in general. there aren't that many other winners that were as unanimously beloved to both fellow players and audiences (maybe Africa?). I heard someone say once that you know Survivor is a great TV show because the people you want most to win almost never do (or even get close) and yet you still keep coming back every season knowing that to be the case lol

As incredible as MvGX and DvG are, I wouldn't recommend them to a first-time viewer. The gameplay of the new-school seasons can be so fast paced and dynamic that it can be hard to follow and might leave a new viewer lost and confused. I would recommend more old-school seasons to start with because the gameplay and strategy are much simpler. I think the best seasons to watch first are China and Tocantins (Cagayan is not a bad option either, but the gameplay is a little more new-school than I would recommend starting with)
@MtVesuvius3 жыл бұрын
MvGx was my first, and it took me awhile to care enough about social game (and players from the older seasons) enough to watch the old school seasons, because they're so slow. I found it easy enough to follow MvGX because Adam and Zeke were there to guide us. I also love strategy, so the new items (or somewhat old Immunity Idols) added to the fun! The only season older than HvV that I've finished without skipping any episodes (like I kinda did with both Stephanie's seasons) is All Stars. I did like the OG players in 40 though.

i agree that they are fast paced seasons. However, DvG has Christian who acts as an amazing storyteller/narrator in his confessionals and he does a great job keeping the viewer in the loop of what his plans and the plans of others are. Same with MvGX with players like Hannah, Zeke and David who are good storytellers themselves. I started with DvG so im a bit biased it. I think the pacing was fine and they never stray from the reward and immunity challenges format which makes it a bit easier to follow. Some of the advantages are a bit hard to wrap your head around however.

If I were to make a list of all new cast seasons my 5 would be: Cagayan, Cook Islands, Tocantins, Australia, and of course Borneo.

This may seem like a strange take, but I actually think Survivor Fiji is one of the best seasons to start new people on. It is at a point where the game started changing, has a very satisfying winner (something I think is incredibly important when introducing people to the show), and genuinely has a good mixture of strategy and humour.

Although I don’t know remember the name of the islands of each season and I have only watched more or less 10 seasons but in my opinion season 13 is one of the best seasons with the cast and one of the best strategic moves and a challenge beast plus an “underdog” story.

For me I feel like key seasons like marquesas, pearl Islands, cook island and fvf should go before the newer seasons. I get why you'd leave out fvf as half the cast is returning players.

Samoa was SO much fun even though I wouldn't necessarily recommend with it for someone who had never seen the show lol. People tend to only remember Russell but most of the cast was super entertaining

Still to this day when I think of weird survivor teams, I’m still in disbelief that they split teams up by race. How no one involved in the show say “hey this might be a bad idea” what’s crazy it’s a really good season or I think It is.

Season 28: Cagayan is the best season. It has the best cast and greatest final 4. The loyalties in alliances changed so much and made for great drama.

For new viewers, I'd recommend season 7 for the no-idol era, seasons 13 or 15 or 18 for golden age, seasons 25, 29, 33 or 37 for modern era. I'd keep seasons 16, 20 and 28 for later 😛
