For me the most used and important values in a temperate climate area are stopping distances in wet and dry. They are all within a hare’s whisker of each other, so really it doesn’t matter. Many SUVs are 2 wheel drive and/or have smaller rims and taller tyre sidewalls thus providing different results to these. Probably best to fit what the vehicle’s manufacturer fitted when new and not to get too enthusiastic about tyres from any good manufacturer.

I'm not sure. I have the Continental tyres (As shown here.) on my 2019 Hyundai Kona . After 18000 miles, the sidewalls have failed. (Cracking even thogh most of the tread pattern is still there.) My local tyre dealer is recommending the Goodyear tyre. (Again, the one shown here,) due to it's Price, Durability low noise, and Comfort levels. 🤔🤔. I've no interest in lap times and high speed handling as my Kona is used as our towing car.

These are crossovers not SUV’s 😂 my RAV4 is basically a Camry on stilts with awd for bad weather. I’m concerned with treadwear grip (especially in the rain) and it being quiet and comfortable.

1:49 If you bought SUV just to sit higher from the ground while you are city driving/standing in traffic jams, then NO! You can basically put on any potato Tyre that fits, it will 'roll' and you will move forward. If you will constantly be driving spiritually on 'serpentine' type of road and do off-roading DAILY with you'r SUV, then YES you need suv marked tyre, to safely handle all the additional stresses that comes with an suv.

SUV tires are not only for the way you drive. load bearing is also an important factor. Car tires are meant for cars that load a small amount of weight (sedans, hatchbacks, etc). SUV's are designed to allow you to fold down all of the passenger seats and load up in an extreme number of goods that amount to a very heigh weight value. Doing this in normal car tires instead of suv tires would be a gamble of your life.
