There are many anti-air vehicles in War Thunder that work better in the anti-tank role. The French AMX-13 DCA 40 and Swedish Lvkv 42 are great examples. They are very similar vehicles, with the DCA getting more ammo and the Lvkv getting access to APHE. I played these with Odd and we had a pretty good time, even with the Gaijin moments.

Honestly, I always treated and thought of the Lvkv 42 as an IFV, because that's kinda how it plays. It's a lower tier 9040B without the garbage repair costs and good teams. Also, it's really fun watching these collab videos with OddBawZ. The way you two interact is kinda funny, and you manage to fit all the memes and jokes in at the same time too. Great video as usual :)

Speak of the devil, I got the AMX literally last night and went on a small rampage on my first game, even killing a kv1 near the end of the match (I think about 5 or 6 kills after 2 deaths in the FL10 Sherman). Thing is just absolutely insane.

for the record : the AMX 13-DCA 40 was even more a tank destroyer rather than SPAA before the buff before the maximum turret traverse rate was like 14 degrees/sec, making it a pretty lame SPAA to say the least, tracking was very sub-optimal. Vertical targeting speed was great, so it basically meant that without a lot of luck or a lot of planning, the only way to reliably get a plane with that vehicle was to get his attention, and wait that he'd dive on you and fly in a straight line trying to strafe you. Now with the 70+ degrees/second of turrent rotation speed, that thing just turned into a demon, capable of not only getting planes pretty reliably without relying on 50/50 tactics, but also can deal with way more ground ennemies than before. All of that without a BR increase. Amazing work on Gaijin's part lol

Yeah I legit get more ground kills with it than the 5.0-5.7 French tanks and I don’t even intent to use it against ground vehicles. But that’s just WT for you. The other day I first spawned in the 2.0 Flak Truck in a 3.3 match and ended up getting the most kills in my team. Same story. Was waiting for planes but had to engage way more ground vehicles.

I remember trying to spade this when I was grinding my 7.7 French lineup and the patch that buffed this thing dropped about halfway through and it was a night and day difference. We love the DCA in this household

The DCA at its peak was by far the MOST OP vehicle that has ever existed in this game. KV1E? Calliope? Pshaw! It was like Medusa, anything that saw it died. It got nerfed until it just mehs rather than equals nuclear holocaust to anything else. Seriously at it's peak it was almost unplayable anywhere near its BR as it just annihilated everything. AMX-13 mobility, and 240 rounds per minute. The only thing that's come close was the Sd.Kfz.234/4 when it was still at ridiculously low BR.

The Crusader AA with the bofors it now 3.0. most tanks at that br get a round that pens around 75mm, the bofors solid shot pens 73mm. At 3.0 British tech tree you have a crusader with a (basically) fucking machine gun as a main canon.

Greetings Spook, I would like you to check out the French Locust (Or how I called it) Lorraine 37L. It's got 47mm gun that have 105mm of penetration with good angle performance. I used it to kill 2 7.7 tanks before, definitely a fun meme tank

Hey Mate amazing video as always, i do have a tip for using the funny LvKv 42 i recommand only brinding a full load of AP-HE it is way better than the pure ap at killing anything since most tanks have a exploitable weakspot you can nuke them threw, the only usefull thing about the pure ap is the abylity to pen a kv 1 dead on which may still not work when they angle. The aphe is such a mosterous round it shuld be the only one you bring in my opinion at least.

This guy was not here for old HVAP at low tier... R3's at really low BR, 110pen with a perfect stabilizer. Sherman's were front penned by all the German AA from reserve up. Pitch black times. The AA had it, the German planes had it, your mom had it...

To answer Spook's speculation about why there are two sights, it's because the job of bringing a AA gun of the period on target was typically split between two people, one for elevation the other for traverse, both of whom obviously need a sight, due to how quickly they had to train, often on entirely manual power, to get and keep on target and to avoid multitasking confusion in critical moments, which is pretty much the entire time an aircraft is in range TBH.

Second time asking, but I think it'd be fun to see an analysis video about whether SPAA could engage tanks in real life, in terms of fire control, weapon damage and enemy protection. Perhaps a history on the development of SPAAs after the second world war too

Mostly wouldn't be great against full on tanks, but any spaa with a high calibre autocannom would be extremely effective against many types of armoured vehicles like transports and armoured cars.

Oh a great tank that nobody uses is the STRV M42 EH. It has terrible pen on the 75mm APHE but its has like 250g of explosives and nukes things. Very fun on a flank. You should try it.

While these vehicles are stupidly fun and great at destroying ground vehicles, there exists even more fearsome SPAA predators in the lower BR ranks: the Zis-43, the L-62 Anti II, and it's wheeled brother, the Swedish Mad Max truck. The Zis and the Anti are 2.7 and are RANK 3 vehicles, meaning you can use them for the battle pass and events. Use the SAP rounds for the Swedes and watch opposing armor disintegrate! The M19A1 and M42 Duster are also decent, but they tend to get ammo racked surprisingly easy.

The DCA is an equally good AA and TD in my opinion, and all round just great fun. One hit on a plane and it rips the wind off. Honestly not too hard to aim at planes. And obviously as shown here it’s a really fun ratty anti tank.

Idk if this is the right Avenue to make this request but would you consider doing a video on the T-26E? The T-26E is a massively up armored version of the normal tech tree T-26, it has an extra 40mm or armor on top of its normal stuff! It's a USSR tank at BR 1.7 and is so much more fun than the normal T-26, especially at medium range. You are such a small target and the extra armor does a great job of protecting your crew 😊

I've gotten 10 kill games with the French 40mm Boi counting planes and tanks. While the 40mm isn't the easiest SPAA caliber, it can still be pretty good considering you usually only need to hit the plane a couple of times to kill it. Just engage em at closer distances

With the turret Traverse buff the AMX-13 DCA is actually usable as an anti air finally, it used to match a Jumbo's turret rotation, was beyond painful
