That is an awesome video. I used to that off off pines and palms area on the garden sea fan swiss cheese bottom. I would get mostly red grouper. If they wouldn't eat we would pull them out of their hole. Lots of lobster and hogs. The hogs would eat 90%of the time. This was back in the late70's early 80's. Looking back I wish that they had bag limits. I was a young man and did not consider conservative harvesting. I watch you both taking only what you need. It's very sublime and respectful of the future. Thank you . Btw way I did start thinking and acting on my own conservation and limits in the mid 80's after watching Crocker, Conch, Davis, and Alligator reefs being raped of its grouper and yellowtail.

Hogfish is delicious! I had heard of it but had never had it until last year when we stayed in the Keys for 2 weeks. I am a lover of saltwater fish but that is definitely one of the best! Me and eddie watched the video and tried this over the weekend! It was a lot of fun! But little fish kept trying to take the shrimp before it got to the bottom where the hogfish was.

Thats awesome! I knew it would inspire someone to go out and try it. When all the little fish get involved that's when it becomes very difficult.. But at the same time when the hogfish see the little fish picking away it makes them more aggressive towards eating the shrimp. Thats why before I go in the water I load my pocket up with about a dozen shrimp. The most effective way to do it though is to find a hogfish all by himself around the edge of the reef in the sand with some hogfish buddies so they can all fight over it.

B Bonfiglio it can be! The key is to drop the bait in front of the fish slow, once he consumes the shrimp slowly pull up. Also if you have to chase a fish he’s not going to eat. He has to be sitting still nice and comfortable.
