I have a small boat 19 foot and when the waves are too high I stay in the intercoastal waterway and just enjoy the day. Even the big boats cannot handle the ocean waves at times. Boating is about enjoying your time on the water.

Dude, me and my sister and our 3 cousins would ride in my dads pickup truck missing a tailgate and I had to be maybe 5 years old (the youngest) 😂 the shit people could get away with in the 80s…My daughter was born in Philippines and they not only don’t know what baby car seats are, they literally make baby sized helmets for throwing your family of 6 on your 125cc moped that will get murked by a tour bus one day. Americans are over protective and miserable. People lose their house in a hurricane and act like it’s the end of the world, just crying…Filipinos are out swimming in the flood that literally 187’d ten thousand people laughing it off that their life was swept away in a storm, totally positive about it. It really puts things into perspective and how ridiculous we are. Yeah, should you put a life vest on your kid? Yes. Should you call the cops, get DCFS involved and humiliate someone for being an irresponsible parent 🤷‍♂️ I think most people, even bad parents don’t know they’re bad parents or are trying to hurt their kids. They might be from a third world country where life is cheap and short and just honestly don’t know better.

55:32 The jetskier is definitely in the wrong. Inlets and Outlets are made to go IN and OUT to reach a marina or harbor, they are basically like a two way street and you are always to remain parallel to the shore on each side. They are not made for idiots on jetskis to do donuts in. Also according to maritime regulations, the smaller vessel with more maneuverability should always give way to the bigger vessel that has less maneuverability.

Boat fires and purposeful floundering have been happening like that since before I ever left Florida (can’t wait to move back btw), in 2003. And yeah it happens on purpose….when I lived up the treasure coast I knew a lot of salvors (who are all living off lended money), who’s boats always seem to catch on fire or sink when they had a rough year. lol. So I am absolutely in the camp this is only just now being caught on camera. Maybe not all are purposefully done, but a whole lot of them are…… Great channel btw. It never ceases to amaze me how many of these boats have kids on board without life vests (especially in choppy weather). In some situations, adults should have life vests on too and I would argue children under a certain age should wear vests). @PatrickHoodDaniel
@PatrickHoodDaniel Жыл бұрын
@@cristoforopassaro2219 Did my comment say that it had something to do with the jet ski being small or hard to see? The collision regulations govern the maneuverability of the vehicle. For instance, a sailboat is very difficult to maneuver under sail, but they still need to watch out for larger boats that are under power, no matter where they are. A jey ski can maneuver far quicker and easier than a boat. The boat was not making any unpredictable maneuvers which gives the jet ski ample opportunity to make way.

@@promisefisheries7901I don’t know about that. I think some ports are more apt to attract the type of boaters that don’t know any better like a lot of the boats in this video. Wasupfool5692 was absolutely right. A lot of these people have no business owning a boat. I saw a pontoon boat as well as a bunch of ski boats & bow riders, which were the boats with the bows that point down. The type of boater that thinks it’s a good idea to run a boat like that through that inlet is an idiot. Those kind of boats only belong in fresh water lakes. AT MY home port which is Oregon Inlet NC, you’ll never see boats like that. I’m not saying that there are never any inexperienced boaters in my waters, but mostly what you’ll see are commercial fishermen & charter boats most of which are large flybridge sport fishers. My boat, which is a Mako 236, is the smaller of the boats you’ll see out there, and my boat is offshore capable.

Apparently they are. I know there's at least one story of one lasting an incredible time and distance- the Sarah Joe. 5 guys set out from Maui in 1979 and didn't come back. 10 years later, most of the boat and the remains of one of the men was found in the Marshall Islands, over 2000 miles away through the Pacific. Seeing the picture of the boat, it's kind of crazy just how much is left after 10 years of being out in the elements with zero maintenance.

Just getting to this video today, September 2, 2024. Burned boat being towed in was absolutely awful!!!!! Dreadful!!!! Shocking!!!! Gorgeous boat to be destroyed!!!!! So, so very sad! I'm up in central Ontario, Canada, and have never seen this type of situation before. Please try to capture more of these sorry, sorry boats to hopefully shock more people. Nonetheless, as an aside, after this comment I would like to add, I do really enjoy your content. Thank you. Always entertaining and well, shocking too!

I've been playing around on the water for decades now. I came to the conclusion that there are basically 3 types of boater/sailors. A) Clued in. B) Clued in with money. C) Clueless and D) Clueless with lots of money. As for boats burning/sinking, add in abandoned. Saw an article from about 8 years ago, about all the boats abandoned all over Florida. Literally hundreds of them. Something goes wrong with your job and boats are the first to be ditched. Scrape off the registration, and hull number, beach it in the middle of nowhere and walk away.

Man, I had a 43' boat that led an easy life in a freshwater lake in central Texas with a covered slip. There is NO WAY I would touch a used boat from that area. I mean, the saltwater intrusion alone, let alone all the banging and smacking that happens to some of these boats that really weren't built for ocean conditions. Talk about old before their time!

The part about the burning boats I believe it’s a little bit of both of everything one you are filming more on the river and you see more damage but also I believe because of the insurance, the maintenance and the fees and payments people are doing this and there’s small percentage of Accidental fires because of the owners doesn’t know what he’s doing on the boat

Watched so many of these, in 2023 and prior years; great to see a year end compilation. I would suggest however, that the main theme of boats that experience trouble or even just unnecessary roughness, is not the inlet itself, although that the very subject of the video. Why is the inlet the way it is? Because the conditions BEYOND THE INLET are inhospitable! You shouldn't be going out into the open water - which is what the inlet takes you to! (duh) - in those kinds of conditions! That is the common theme here. The inlet is just a symptom of what you shouldn't be headed into in the first place.

@johngoodell2775

But the USCG gives bar crossing info enough to make a more educated decision. I just dont understand the cavalier attitude of Florida boaters...I guess maybe it is the water temp. And the boat designs are odd...with that drooping bow that is literally the worst possible design for a boat that has to cross that bar to go to the ocean.

47:20 and on; From what the direction of the current looks to be, the guy actually does a perfect job with the anchor. Causing enough drag on the left side of the boat so the current doesn,t slam them into the rocks, but creates a forward motion. This is how more or less a sailing boat works.
