Americans are over protective and miserable. People lose their house in a hurricane and act like it’s the end of the world, just crying…Filipinos are out swimming in the flood that literally 187’d ten thousand people laughing it off that their life was swept away in a storm, totally positive about it. It really puts things into perspective and how ridiculous we are. Yeah, should you put a life vest on your kid? Yes. Should you call the cops, get DCFS involved and humiliate someone for being an irresponsible parent 🤷♂️ I think most people, even bad parents don’t know they’re bad parents or are trying to hurt their kids. The power boat was overtaking the jet ski. He must give way. The power boat had excessive speed for the conditions and did not post a proper lookout. The fact that the jet ski is small or hard to see has nothing to do with it.
@PatrickHoodDaniel Жыл бұрын
@@cristoforopassaro2219 Did my comment say that it had something to do with the jet ski being small or hard to see? The collision regulations govern the maneuverability of the vehicle. For instance, a sailboat is very difficult to maneuver under sail, but they still need to watch out for larger boats that are under power, no matter where they are. A jey ski can maneuver far quicker and easier than a boat. The boat was not making any unpredictable maneuvers which gives the jet ski ample opportunity to make way.

Man, I had a 43' boat that led an easy life in a freshwater lake in central Texas with a covered slip. There is NO WAY I would touch a used boat from that area. I mean, the saltwater intrusion alone, let alone all the banging and smacking that happens to some of these boats that really weren't built for ocean conditions. Talk about old before their time!

Yes,, those high end boats have seen a lot of banging for sure.

Where to begin. Fist of all, too fast, slow everything down. Second, move passengers aft. Third, no one forward of the helm during rough passage. Fourth, slow down, ride the back of the wave coming in. Going out, time the waves and take them more on the quarter.

The part about the burning boats I believe it’s a little bit of both of everything one you are filming more on the river and you see more damage but also I believe because of the insurance, the maintenance and the fees and payments people are doing this and there’s small percentage of Accidental fires because of the owners doesn’t know what he’s doing on the boat

For kids it is mandatory. In water like this, it should be mandatory for adults as well.

You think you're an excellent swimmer until you fall into water like that, the waves smash your face, you fight to catch your breath, you get winded quick. When you're out of breath, you sink, can't even float on your back. Ask me how i know. 💯👌 Life jackets, WEAR THEM.

Watched so many of these, in 2023 and prior years; great to see a year end compilation. I would suggest however, that the main theme of boats that experience trouble or even just unnecessary roughness, is not the inlet itself, although that the very subject of the video. Why is the inlet the way it is? Because the conditions BEYOND THE INLET are inhospitable! You shouldn't be going out into the open water - which is what the inlet takes you to! (duh) - in those kinds of conditions! That is the common theme here. The inlet is just a symptom of what you shouldn't be headed into in the first place.
@johngoodell2775 Жыл бұрын
no its a bar crossing. the seas beyond are not the same conditions.
@johngoodell2775 Жыл бұрын
But the USCG gives bar crossing info enough to make a more educated decision. I just dont understand the cavalier attitude of Florida boaters...I guess maybe it is the water temp. And the boat designs are odd...with that drooping bow that is literally the worst possible design for a boat that has to cross that bar to go to the ocean.

47:20 and on; From what the direction of the current looks to be, the guy actually does a perfect job with the anchor. Causing enough drag on the left side of the boat so the current doesn,t slam them into the rocks, but creates a forward motion. This is how more or less a sailing boat works.

the coast guard only requires a captain's license if you have paying passengers but some states require you to take a boater's course but most of the time not for recreational purposes

In Canada you need a pleasure boaters license for anything 10hp or more. Unfortunately it has no limits skiff or 250f yacht same ticket. Comercial ticket is basically in tonage and starts at 5t passenger/15t fishboat and goes from there.

It depends on the state. Here in Maryland we have to attend a multi-week training course and pass a test. My only issue with it is that anyone before before 1971 is exempt, and there's more of them than you'd think out piloting boats for the first time.

@@sj2291 I'll agree with the weight point but stand by my comment. #One, they were getting slammed in the bow, and #two, if you look at 3:10 on the timeline, they took a huge wave over the bow. They would been much more comfortable in the stern and kept dry. 😉
