Crystal River is my backyard playground, I moved up here from Miami in 83 and everyday we find new beautiful places to explore all up and down the Gulf Coast, the springs, caves and caverns are just as amazing and a must see and experience, and let's not forget the fishing, some of the best there is, On second thought forget what I said, it's boring and there's nothing to do here nothing to see here move along,,, lol (jk lol, it's heaven on earth here, enjoy your stay,,,),

Seems like the last few with brains got outta broward and dade in the 90s. I know we moved up outside of williston in 92 and spent most free time over in crystal river,and yankeetown.i had to move back in 2007 and hate myself for it.

Every time somebody mentions "springs" I can't help but think of that scene in the Vacation movie remake. My luck that is exactly what it would turn out to be. I won't spoil it for you if you haven't seen it yet. I love scallops. Never gone hunting for them. We do have some good spots to find clams near me. Did that a lot as a kid.

@tracybaroni18493 жыл бұрын
Thanks for clarifying this, Clay. It is a HUGE problem in our rivers, not just the Crystal River, but all of the Gulf Coast rivers that scallopers use to get to scallop grounds. The shells come from SALT water and our rivers are FRESH water, spring fed. Dumped shells cover and kill the vegetation on the bottom, destroying the habitat for our fish and marine life. Throw them in the Gulf or the trash, not our beautiful rivers!!

John Garcia the past 2 seasons haven’t been all that great. How deep are you going? We normally go 8-10ft deep and we go up where the big cluster of boats is. Last time we got about 30 scallops haven’t been in a few weeks though redoing the boat will be out there this weekend though.
@sifu19654 жыл бұрын
@@candicekraemer2037 I was talking with someone on dock prior to heading off, he mentioned an area that the water is crystal clear, and 4 feet deep...I didnt find anything like that. I'm used to fishing in those waters, alot deeper 25 feet or more, but Ive never seen any water that was clear in shallow areas. I was in 3-4 feet of water which was murky at best. I'll probably try again this coming weekend, usually every Saturday I'm there.

Gotta love the you tubers guy give terrible advice. Shells go in trash. Ole bud would have loved to see no way to measure. Don’t give advice unless you talk to locals. This is how new people get in trouble with rules they watch wrong advice on you tube.
@LifeByTheBow4 жыл бұрын
We cleared this up in the video description and we’re sorry that you’re upset due to the situation. Truth is nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. Here in the Keys we dispose of our fish carcasses in the water.. obviously scallops are different due to the hardness of their shell. The first time I visited crystal River I went out with a guide and he measured with a 5 gallon bucket and cleaned scallops in the river just the same as we did so I wouldn’t say local knowledge always prevails. At the end of the day, scalloping is not rocket science and there’s definitely somewhat useful information in this video. Just kindly understand that this was a mistake.
