Very helpful video! I wish I could have shown this video to my blind partner 30 years ago when we were starting out. I noticed that we kept having ducks flare off. I’d say, "Either they are seeing you move or you don’t sound like a duck." We finally figured to only blow at their backsides. Videos like this are a huge help to new and old hunters alike. That was nice, its nice to see how guys from other parts work ducks. I just got a new tool for the box. I grew up with Northern duck hunters around. And have seen some of the southern videos and wondered how they put it together. I also have watched some Tennessee metal Reed videos and Woodford lake calling videos. But have never seen how that is built for working ducks. I hunted for years before I actually knew there was different styles of calling.

Funny story they didn't have any ducks flying over my blind few days ago.. but they had every marsh bird that tried to light in my decoy spread... so every time a Ibis or tern would fly over, I would blow a hale call.... believe it or not I after messing around with my calls.. a green winged teal flew in the decoys... I guess I drew him in🤷‍♂️😆🦆🦆

Leave it at home just once and you'll see the difference in how most people's calling flares birds off. A jerk string with 4 decoys on it works better than any call ever could.

Any call when used properly is the right call. Any call used improperly is the wrong one. It truly doesn't matter. Most of the time, you'll kill just as many birds if you leave the calls at home, set decoys, hide, and shut up. The most important part of hunting is done without callsn decoys or anything other than your eyes. Scout. Find out where they want to be and position yourself there if you do that you don't even need calls or decoys. Only if you can't get to those places do you actually NEED gear.

Best thing I’ve learned is to throw decoys how they sit. What I mean is the “j-hooks” and the “x’s” will work but it’s like trying to catch fish with artificial bait, they always prefer the real thing. Go to your area and scout to see how the birds will sit and throw your decoys the exact same and you’ll be surprised with the results!

Mix em. Ducks don't fly by and say "look, a gadwall!" They simply go "a crap pile of ducks are there for SOME REASON" and they want to find out.
