If you're not fuel scooping, just turn away from the star imediately. You can always start charging your FSD the instant the cooldown is finished because it only takes like 3 seconds to unobstruct your destination in the worst case and cooldown always takes longer than that. This way you're not needlessly consuming heatsinks the whole time. Good to keep those for emergencies or for when you see the "I'm gonna getcha" message from a pirate pop up.

Yeah, don't need to get around the star, you just need to unobstruct. Fly directly "up", along a tangent to the stars surface. You'll also go faster because you're actually getting further from the star.

You can set the supercruse assist to Manual Throttle mode in the right panel, which allows you to engage SA at the start to line up your heading, then go full throttle until you are close, instead of intentionally avoid aiming at the target.

This. Also, especially if your trader is a bit sluggish: Make sure to line up with the mailslot while still in supercruise (the orientation of the station shown in the target display is accurate); way easier than having to fly around the station in real space.

You can also hit the 75% throttle (engage the SC assist) at around 1c, or even 2-3c and still drop safely at the target.

One small trick for getting places faster without the supercruise assist is to wait until your ship slows down to about 1.25Mm/s and then slam your throttle forward. You'll hit the 1000km to target mark right at the moment your velocity goes sub 1Mm/s, instead of slowing down to a few hundred km/s.

you want to save time? skip the supercruise module. do exactly what you said, wait till about 7 and cut engines to 75% so you won't overshoot. come in at the planet with the station at 12 oclock, then aim at the station so the hologram mail slot (which always roughly faces the planet) is not dead on but slightly pointing down and left a bit. you will pop in front of the mail slot every time and can just fly straight in. it can save a lot of time even if you're using the landing assist module (no, I don't, I will fly through that slot at 250 in a cutter, type 9, type 10... they can't scan you if you're doing over 250) . so basically from drop out of supercruise to through the slot is less than 30 seconds.

I think it's way more fun to space truck in the Python than the larger ships. Access to medium landing pads expands your options a lot, and it's much easier to evade interdiction attempts. Sure, you can't match the cargo hold of a Type-9 or Cutter, but it's so much easier to find profitable routes with short jumps when your choices open up like that. And you can switch to courier/delivery missions without complicating your life any time. It's a really smooth and relaxing way to play.

Yeah I miss being able to visit medium pads when I'm in a large ship. The original game had a cargo hauler - I thought it would be really cool if they reintroduced it to allow you to stick it in a fighter bay and then shuttle cargo from a cutter to a medium pad. I suppose you can kind of do that with a fleet carrier.

The ‘loop o shame’ is something you HAD to learn and it was know as ‘clearing your baffles’ this tactic was used when being chased. When you slow down to exit supercruse another commander would be able to snatch you with a interdiction because your six is available. Back in the early years of elite commanders would practice ‘clearing baffles’ and hit the speed mark for dropping out of supercruse as fast as possible to avoid being interdicted.

I sold my supercruise assist, and replaced it with a 1D fuel scoop so I can fuel scoop on the star along the way after each jump. Also swapped out the heatsink with shield booster because it lowers my jump range (and also gives me some shields I guess). Hope I made you feel a bit better :)

Great video Hawke. Quick tip: the Pleiades is it's own micro bubble that is fairly empty leading to star ports paying up to 5 mill per run to bring metals literally 1 system over since the Pleiades is so small. They never go outside their own little bubble, and most runs go to Electra.

The 5 mill is per mission, that's usually about 120 tons. I can stock 2 or 3 easily, and the Pleiades is always in demand so tour looking at around 15 mill per actual jump (which is always 1 since the Pleiades is small, and no missions leave there. Most go from Maia and Taygetta to Electra you just need to dodge the conda that tries to interdict every other run.

About the heatsink trick - I guess if your fsd cool down is engineered that's useful, but I'm like a week into the game and don't have engineers unlocked. I have found that flying away from the star immediately i can pop the fsd as soon as it's off cool down and I avoid the overheating. I steer my ship to face the jump point while the fsd is charging up. Rarely use my heat sinks and still wasting 0 seconds. Laddered up from an adder to type 9 in 4 or 5 days of playing 2-3 hours each day. That said, I'm occasionally settling for some longer routes with 10-12 jumps each way due to what's available to me. Not ideal, so your technique is probably a "why not" scenario for those sweet routes that are only 2 or 3 systems over.

You can save more time by bookmarking the space station you're headed to, them add it to favorites. That way when you drop out of witch space you know where to point your ship. Less clicking, less time. I also rechart my return route while waiting for auto docking. That way I can sell my cargo, reload, and launch immediately.

+ 1 saving-time-tips When you refuel and restock you need hid button to go to hangar, and then "the market" button. It save you some time when you will undock because you already be "facing to exit position" and you see only half of "rotating undocking animation". Save you some time (some about 3 seconds) and in pair of undocking computer you have a lot of time to set your "next stop" way point. Works only for station docking platforms (carrier platforms not rotating).

You can achieve the same speed without heatsink by flying away from the star directly, irrespective of the direction your next destination will be. By the time your FSD cooldown is off, you should be clear of the star and any obstruction it may cause for your destination. Then charge up the FSD and point at the destination.

I recently started playing ED again, restarting fresh. Got into space trucking, and already in a Type 6. I removed the shield and weapons; because I don't need them. I also remove the super cruise, I don't need that either. I am making roughly 5m per round trip; trading bauxite and legal drugs, within 2 jumps. You also don't need a heat sink when you can just fly outside the orbit of the star. Slap a fuel scoop on your build, so you save on fuel cost and not worry about making a long trip. Even though the super cruise trick is neat, it is a waste of a slot, IMO. One could say the same about the docking computer, but I prefer to have one than not.

so ive been playing this for a year on n off basicly lol used your best start strat and it helped a ton lol worked my way to the glorious python wasted some money on ship testing but python deff the best for mining so far lol ... started saving again to aim for the glorious anaconda im at 400 million, but i cant seem to be able to do as much money mining as all the guides i find out on YT either im super bad at spoting them or there are less juicy stone then what it used to be ( deff noticed a drop in price as well ). Maybe i give a shot at trading see how the money is :P ( so far im roughly making 30 ish mill while watching a movie so liek an hour 30 min ish or 2 hours, granted im not 100 % super focused on ED but still its a huge difference from all the guides to mining ive seen so far :S

Instead of 2 jumps, just do it with 1 jump. Before you hit launch, target the system ( not plot route ), hit launch and as you exit the station select 100% on the fsd injection and by the time mass lock is gone, it should be ready. You could also target the system and do the fsd as your docking with docking computer, just throttle to zero once your inside mail slot. I replenish my fsd materials by laser mining LTDs and platinum.

About that first tip. There is a better way. After jump just rotate Yourself to direction similiar You would take to circle star (belly to the star) but instead of getting around it, accelerate and point yourself straight away from the star (angle like half way between Your arrival and target) . When cooldown ends hit the jump shortkey flying still away. When You reach about 0,6- 0,8 c start turning to the target. You'll waste no time and no heatsink. 95% of the time You will not need to circle the star. Just getting away from it is enough to put target in Your sight.

I know nobody is going to see this comment, but the supercruise trick he was using can be done in multiple ways, I usually do mine slightly different because my T9 is less maneuverable and it would be a lot more annoying to go through a loop of shame. I usually start it about 8-10 Ls away from the station but throttling up until the ETA says 5 seconds, then set my throttle to zero and lock on with the assist. Of course, both of these tricks only work on stations that are orbiting a body with a gravity well to slow you down, and completely fail if thestation is just hangin out in the middle of empty space

And do something else (alt F4 or in real life). At all, the thing, that game is running in bacground is so beatutiful! Without that it would be pain in the ass. So I don`t bother with all the time... But when in mission there is a chance of enemy attack... eh, waste of time to just sit and wait for interdiction, figthing and again return on the course... When you chose a route that have both stations closer than 100ls, this will worth all cruise/heatsink tricks. But still we are talking about +-5M/h That's a miserable amount. FD limits ALL trading routes with 100M/h. So, you have to either use a map mining, or to hunt for discounts on carriers (like 200k/t). They have killed core mining (except in asteroid belts), and booooring Robigo and Inara left

These days I just load 20k units of cargo on my fleet carrier then jump hundreds light years away next to the station then unload everything for max profit... very profitable but very monotonous

Ha, I was doing that with a FC when I run low on money. I ended up just jumping out of the bubble and making 4-8 mining runs for plat, enough to get 2k of plat, which is around a half a billion credits. I also don't pick up solely plat, I take ten different types, because I'm not going for a full hold to begin with so I have the space, and it's extra cash without having to pass much up. Having the FC is much nicer when you're not pressuring yourself to completely fill and empty it, and it leaves a lot of time for other game play. Edit: To newer FC owners, don't use the transfer option for cargo, lock your carrier to you only, the set up a commodity trade. It's faster than using the cargo transfer, and the money goes into your FC bank. Set up a buy order on the FC when buying the product from it's source, keeping in mind you have to have the buy money in your FC account, then when full switch to a sell order and buy it from your carrier to sell at the trade destination. A few Robigo passenger runs can get you the funding for some trade runs. Or take it out mining, and I use the buy/sell orders on the FC for transferring that cargo too.

Here's a question. I go to INARA put in all my criteria pick a good looking loop. But when I get there the supply and demand and the amount of players who have effected the prices of the market has always reduced the profits dramatically. Protip - before selling your silver see if there is any "cap" supply missions offered looking for silver.. "cap" missions are supply missions that pay $50 million and are usually less than your cargo capacity.

With the supercruise trick, why do you off-center instead of use the throttle to switch the supercruise mode off and on? I just use the throttle - at full throttle, supercruise is off. When I move to the blue zone, supersnooze kicks in.

Few things to be aware of. First, double check how many times you can do this by checking demand. You don't want to find yourself taking a loss. Second, the assist trick? Remember that it's not THAT smart..... I came out of jump legit in the ring of a station :D

i have some stolen goods that i collected while on a salvage mission, but when i went to a black market to sell them it says I have nothing to sell. Am I doing something wrong? I have hush, lazarus, push, biochemical agent, & synthetic pathogen. I tried taking it out of the ship inventory and putting it in my backpack, but no luck it still says i have nothing to sell. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

I found a setting that allows me to control my throttle during super cruise and then you just back off to the blue zone and the assist takes over

Good content enjoy watching the vids but seems to me that now most things still work but at much lower value, Inara best route was bauxite put 18000t in carrier and unloaded myself made 250 million credits way lower than the billions afk pays about 200 million for 6 to 8 hours on stacked missions again not the 600 to 800 million so I can do an afk and earn the same as hours filling a carrier still did it though as brand new carrier so happy to do something different and way more profitable than endless Robigo passenger trips for about 10 million a trip 😂

I'm out of ED for some years. I believe I own a type 9 somewhere, a python, a type 6. none of them FULLY kitted, also because I was too lazy to unlock engineers. I think I only unlocked a tiny amount of them, lets say 10% if much. But I'm feeling I wanna back to play it, and feel the freedom of not worry about money anymore. I remember I used to like pve, and i even got a Corvette, sorta egineered with i had at that moment, but found rather "difficult" to fight, I mean, not so funny as when I got a vulture, before engineers came out and bots begin to be WAY more inteligent in the battle. Is it worth to push a Type 9 cargo fitted (no defence at all) to make those? I HATE to die, i used to play like hardcore.
