Ditto on the toothbrush. I'm thinking of replacing my Sony RX100 battery charger with a Newmowa USB powered one that takes two batteries. The old one is big. Also, I like the small mains plug adapters. They work great from EU to US, at least. Just buy enough of them, and you don't need to bring those big bricks. If I stay somewhere for a long time, I buy a local cable with two prong. But it took me a while to find last time. I use a local cable for my laptop charger as well. Also took a while to find. High quality USB cables are of interest, especially short ones, as well as one long one for when you need to charge while using the device.

Yes! The USB battery chargers that have come out since making this video are great. Just be sure to get one that is certified for use in your country of use.

Great video. I travel to Africa yearly and am going to Asia this year.....I have fried my share of electronics. Question....not sure how you get 220v specific electronics? As I see it I need a adapter, splitter, and surge protector.....with some step down for 220 to 110 iphone product. Please clarify if possible. Thanks so much.

I am traveling to Ireland can I plug the Ziotec directly into the international adapter, then follow with the orange splitter ? Do I need a surge protector ? If so do I put all of the into surge protector. Also can I plug the multi usb charging system into this contraption. FYI I believe all of my electrical are dual voltage.
@dqstudios6 жыл бұрын
Yes yes and yes .. Just be sure to double-check that EVERYTHING you plug in is 110-220 READY!!!

Awesome video, really appreciate the time you put into this. Question; When travelling to Europe, would I plug the Accell 110V travel Surge protector into the Conair Travel Smart adapter and then from there I could plug in my Monster Power Outlet? From what I understand is that the Accell Surge Protector is not really needed but offers an extra level of security for power surges? Thanks, Martin
@dqstudios9 жыл бұрын
Thanks Martin Racicot . NO! Do NOT use the Accell with 220 European plugs: not meant for that at all. I specifically mention the surge protector is voltage-specific. Links to my European 220V-friendly surge protectors at the end of the video and in the comment. Hope this helps.

+Dave Cheung They have 220V surge protectors with US plugs at CD-R King stores in the Philippines.

With all due respect, after watching your video, I hope pretty soon it will be shown in technology history classes as an example of what people used to do to charge their stuff... Btw, you missed the worst of all, how do you charge the batteries for all the flashes?
@dqstudios9 жыл бұрын
Agreed Dimitris Servis: the sooner we can get rid of battery management the better. Re: AA batteries. I listed my favourite in the link here: notsoancientchinesesecrets.com/?p=1755 Cheers and happy travels :)

I recommend to buy Philips sonicare toothbrush. 100V-240V on US spec Philips sonicare toothbrush charger. There are some different kinds of Oral B chargers. 100V-127V (Made In Mexico): US plug 220V-240V (Made in Germany: Europlug/UK plug/Australian plug) 220V-240V (Made in China: US style flat vertical pin Chinese plug without holes.)

But sadly none that I could find that could do BOTH to be truly travel-friendly. Battery win.

Hi Dave! I'm traveling to Malaysia soon... to charge my devices safely, do you recommend the APPLE world travel adapter kit? Is that all I need? I believe power there is 220-240V. My parents have an older 'power convertor' there that looks like a small car battery. To be clear, I still cannot plug my devices directly into the wall right?
@dqstudios8 жыл бұрын
All my Mac computers power supplies auto-switch from 110-240, so you will be fine. To be sure, always read the label on the power plug to make sure it is safe for 220-240.

Instead of buying all that stuff and lugging it around the world buy the electrical adapter you need for the countries you'll visit and buy a 99 cent 3 Way AC splitter to plug into it so now you have the ability to charge both phones and an iPad at the same time total cost maybe five bucks
