These paints, like many other Artist Grade single pigment paints, occasionally separate. I always shake Daniel Smith paints before I open them (particularly the Primatek line -I’m collecting all of those) because I’ve found that the gum Arabic occasionally separates. Hope you enjoy and are able to collect all 50. My collection is growing thanks to birthday and Christmas gifts! I look forward to watching the complete 50 pigment video!

Yeahhh! Usually, ive noticed that the granulating colors and most cadmiums and cobalts separate in binder no matter the brand is.. so one needs to really either shake the tubes or stir it with a needle. 😊 Yeah, i cannt wait to reviee the 50 colors too! 😊

If you notice the brushes he uses most doing color swatches Is be willing to bet that those are his favorites! Also, he always uses Arches paper for swatches too. I’d say that’s a safe bet as well! I too would like to hear his opinions on other supplies but just so long as he doesn’t stop doing paint reviews i LOVE the paint reviews and swatches and sample paintings!!

I can highly recommend the Monopigment sets from Rosa Gallery. I have their 12 full pan and 28 full pan Monopigment set. The smaller one is awesome for traveling. Their super affordable artist grade paints, and you can buy pans and tubes individually and even pricey pigments cost the same as cheaper ones. At least in Germany it's by far the most affordable artist grade paints, use them since many years and I really do love them.

I agree love their sets to lay down wash. They all are super vibrant and strong colors. the only thing lacking is some of the browns aren't as strong as I like. Love their paints all around.

Though I have not reviewed and tried them yet, testimonies such as yours make me more excited. Now, I'm tempted to get the mono pigmented set. Hahaha. And it's true. It's amazing how the cobalts and cadmiums and other pricey pigments are of equal price as the cheaper colors. 🙏

Although I use other brands as well, I still love Mission Gold for their intensity. I think its an excellent choice for someone who is just starting out with professional range of paints. Hi. 1st off, the 'other' sets aren't older as compared to the pure pignent set. As thoroughly discussed in my review, the pure pigment set is set formed from the same line only that this set is made out of single pigments. So that is the main difference. If you are particular to them being single Pigment, then that should matter.. the 'other' sets with premixed colors aren't bad and are intended friendlier to beginners and to those who are a bit new or lazier when it comes to color mixing. The pure pigment set is for artist who want to make their own mixes. Also, what makes the pure Pigment set bit kore expensive is that there are real cobalt and cadmium colors and less earth colors.

I ordered their set of 36 colors. It does say to shake the tube before opening. I think it may make a difference in the colors you had a slight problem with in your swatching. Thank you for an indepth review. I am excited to receive mine and get to work. For the palette they have, a piece of fine sanding paper rubbed gently across the bullet proof glass takes care of the beading. I hope this helps others.

Yeah, binder separation seems to be a normal thing to some pigments. I shake them in my Ds tubes, but for review, i let them fresh for rawness. 😉 Thanks for sharing your tip in thr palette. I don't have them, but im sure it's gonna help others. 🙏

Wow Allan! Just revisited Mind of Watercolour, In liquid colour and a few other utube videos. Thank you for showing us the new pigments in this set...much nicer, much more useful. I bought this and a studio palette too, as I love the cobalt turquoise, and it becomes very affordable with this set. Here in Australia, 125 AUD dollars with free shipping, makes it $4.80 per tube AUD which is really cheap! The mijello studio palette with 55 wells is for colour mixing with dots in each well (Mind of Watercolour) to make convenience colours at your finger tips. I use a glue stick to prepare all metal and plastic palettes, and it works really well to prevent staining, beading and abrasive issues. Just put it on and wipe with a clean wet tissue. This set has such pretty colours, and loved your mix top right corner with viridian and magenta to make a neutral tint, wow what a range in that little square....I can see a painting with just these two colours. I wasn't able to buy single pigment tubes for less than 40 dollars, so yes I bought the set, as it comes with a lot of expensive pigments.

Teal/Cobalt Turquoise is my favorite color and I cant stand a huget set without it so the inclusion of it here is a treat. and yes cobalts are expensive so its really a plus. the neutral tint combo was from MGraham and since then, im using my pthalo greens to make deep grays because i dont use pthalos that much, hehe.

Thanks for this video. I have jad several professional grade paints have a bit of binder separation. Not anything crazy but just a little. I just stir w a toothpick inside the tube or squeeze some out and mix with a toothpick. I actually just picked this set up and already love it. I too had a bit of binder separation but not bad at all. I noticed at least with my set that the more natural colors were a bit thicker even when mixed inside and outside the tube but I have saw another video that the person had noticed the same thing. Another thing that kind of bothers me is how they name the colors differently than what the most commonly used name for the pigment is. I'm not sure why they do this but I know that when you buy paints you should always look a the pigment(s) in the paint and not so much the name but the name can help too. Have a great day

Hi Danielle. Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts. I definitely agree about everything. The binder separation in this set is very tolerable as compared to other brands. I mix them to using a pin. Color names are really different specially to Asian brands. Sometimes it's funny especially in Chinese brands. But yeah, definitely one should check the pigment codes to meet expectations as names could be confusing.

so excited when this pop-up on my notification bell! i bought the set from the same seller and received the skincare gift too and had try them loll now my skin is so soft and glowing 😂 this set is so versatile. my fav colors in this set are Cobalt Turquoise and Red-Brown, they mix beautifully to my liking. if i ever run out any of the cobalt colors i might as well buy a new set because price of 4 tube of cobalt pigments = price of this beautiful set. i noticed that older Mijello W590 Cobalt Turquoise consisting of PB28, PY3, & PW6. they reformulate it i guess by using only PB28 for the newer batch.

The Mission White Class is the hybrid gouache line. I like Mission Gold but I had issues with the Bamboo Green. They don't flow like crazy but it's still fun to paint with them. 😊 Some art supply online-shops offer the Mission Gold open-stock which is really good in my opinion.

Hi Allan, thank you for this review, you're always so accurate and insightful and I love watching your videos. I wish I could get this set at a cheaper price from shopee but I live in Italy and I haven't understood well if international purchases are possible and then probably the customs fees would be a huge problem too. Still your review is the best I have seen for this set. As for other single pigments sets do you know about Maimeri blu watercolors? This is an extra fine Italian brand that has completely reformulated its line and now they only make single pigments paints so their sets are single pigments too. Ohhh hi Cristy! ☺️🙏🏻🎨 I SUPER love Maimeri Blu! I have 11 tubes that are all single Pigments and 14 halfpans. I bought the pans last year while the tubes only this April at Jacksons. That time, they still have Sap Green which was made out of pv49 and pg36. So i didnt remember Maimeri as an all single Pigment brand.. but i remember reading that somewhere. Now, checking again jacksons and their website, its amazing to see that their line is new. Now all single pigments and that is sooo cool. I however still feels fortunate to have saved one of their last convenience color, Sap Green. This makes me excited about Maimeri. I love their texture and theyre easy to use, not so overwhelming. Upon checking Jacksons, they have some Mijello sets, but not pure pigment. But, they also sell single tubes that is i think a better option. Thank you for reminding me about Maimeri's reformulation. ☺️🙏🏻🎨

So far the only papers I have tested that are near as good as arches...are almost as expensive...so if anyone finds a paper close...let us know..,if only we could find one for half the price.....wouldnt that be great!....i keep these mission paints in a 1/4 pan palette in my travel bag...they rewet easily, don't " travel" across the paper when it in the field-- that is important...there are enough variables out there. So far this is one of the best I have seen you review. Have fun!.

Such stunning colors talaga~ this is the set i plan to buy once i get my first job income haha as a present to myself. I think they (thefrugalcrafter and The Liquid Color) had different colors in their sets because Mijello sells i think 3 different color variation sets. One is a Western set, and theres an Asian set which is what you have in the video. From what i remember, only the Asian set has the Cobalt Turqoise color. Hi. :) Yeah I know that variations thing. But the variation is in the mixed color set, not in the pure pigment set. for the Pure pigments set, they only have one. The reason why frugal crafter, In Liquid COlor and the MInd, had different set was that the set they reviewed was the older Pure Pigment set. if youd see, their reviews were taken around 3 years ago.. I think nag comment ata isa sa knila rito. Im not sure. but yeah, this is now the set they sell even in US. The color selection is improved now. :)

@@djhadaverde glad that you got your's too! which set did you get? i'm not sure i will work much with this set as out of 21 pans 6 are yellow, seems a bit extreme to me but i have most of their colors anyway so i can fill it with a nice combo i can use (i just wanted the pallet plus a few of these colors anyway). it really wouldn't be so bad but there are not really any earth colors in the set & most of the yellows appear the same - explains why until recently i couldn't find any good yellows, love the newer indian yellow py150 & the irgazin yellow py129.

@@kklyve if you want smooth paints, i think youll love Shmincke. Schmincke is i believe the only brand that has an ultramarine that is not granulating. The color name is Ultramarine Finest. Holbein, being Asian paints are not very granulating as compared to American paints.

Thank you for this review. I just got my set for great price (24 +2). for 71 dollars! That's just under 3 dollars a tube (15ml tubes!). I swatched them while watching your review! Just a Note for anyone wanting to buy them. One online art store is selling them for way more (over 100 dollars) For me it was cheaper to buy the 24 +2 set than the 36 set! interesting. Thank you for the good words. 🙏 can you point in which minute the music was? I just randomly downloaded these music from the audio library. I think the 36 colors are more expensive because of the pigments thatbare included in it. It has more cobalts and Quinacridones which are more expensive. 😊

Did some google-ing around on the Mijello Mission White Class (as i had assumed that they may be student grade), surprisingly they're some sort of hybrid designer gouache due to the pigment shifts and how they act more watercolor-like when watered down, though can't really compare them against my small palette of Daler Rowney Designers gouache as of yet (not until the next paycheck, at least)

These are really great. but you have to take note, that some of the colors of mission gold like the CObalt yellow which is also a pure pigment set member costs 1,200+ PHP. even more expensive than it's Daniel Smith equivalent. Thanks for this awesome review :) I have the same set as yours and I just opened it today. I also bought the 55 well palette after watching the mind of watercolor video. My question is how do we make the convenience colors as the box doesn't come with the 'recipe' like the old box. And with the changes of some of the paints this becomes confusing. Example this new set doesn't come with Prussian Blue so now we cant make Mijello Blue. So I'm afraid to use the palette as the initial recipe was so easy. Thoughts?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Tessa. I honestly haven't seen or owned the older set, so I have no idea yet how it really went. Perhaps, there are uploaded formulas we can find? For the absence of some of the colors like Prussian Blue, the solution I can find for that is to purchase a separate tube of those colors that are missing.. or, if it is acceptable, you can substitute the Prussian blue with the closest in this set, which is the Phthalocyanine Blue. You may also play around with new mixes and have your own recipe too. Who knows, you might discover mixes you'd love more than the predicted outcome from the recipe. :) Don't be afraid and just enjoy watercolors.

Thank you Kavana. 🙏😊🎨 I pour these sets now for my online store. For the Philippine setting which is humid, they stay moist in halfpans. But not moist enough to spill after letting it set and dry for a week. In less humid countries, this should not be an issue. Oh, but in the 34 colors set, the Cobalt Cerulean Blue and the Yellow Ochre No.2 both dry quite ahead of the others. They crack but they dont powderise so still fine.

The old blue box set is compatible with the studio palette to make 55 colours from the set and the new gold box set cant without buying the colour the comes in the blue set but the gold set dont have. Mission Gold isn't really cheap as the series G and H cost more than some other brands with the same colour.

Oh thanks for sharing ghe info abt the boxes.. i agree about the highers series. I got an H, one of which is the cobalt yellow and it's 1,269.75php super far from their A's that's only 284php. The H is even more expensive than Daniel Smith's Lapiz Lazuli, Garnet and Amethyst which are semi precious stones. The Cobalt Yellow of Mijello is just a PY40 , or Aureolin of DS that's only around 800-900..

@@AllanJayQuesada so far I have only gotten the tundra and forest of the super granulating. Not sure about how much use I would get from others. Depends on how these eventually work into my palette. I do landscapes, city scrapes, floral and wildlife...mostly birds. There are a few of the m graham I haven't bought because they are mixes that as often as i use I can do myself and get something more organic. My first was Windsor Newton ( 60 years ago) it is still the only locally available watercolor in my area. It is my least favorite paint., is better straight from tube than if allowed to dry...but that's not the way I work anymore. I dont have enough energy to work for long periods and when i am done...i am done for the day. Sohaappy painting...will be watching....thank you.

@@AllanJayQuesada bought the pure pigment set when first came out. If i want a paint that " stays put" I get them out. But although they are lovely paints they seem to lack in the flow department. That's what i try to achieve with watercolor as i have shifted back to watercolor from oils. I am looking for that movement.
