We used this system also. We put it on about 5 years ago and loved it ever since. We just got a new trailer and are going to use the Erickson E-Track system this time and see how that works out. Putting it on this week and hopefully we like it as much as we did this one.

I would have recommended you NOT put the brackets right up against your tires - if you would have left ~1" of space on both sides, it would accommodate different tires AND makes loading easier as you don't have to set the SXS in the trailer perfectly straight. Also agree with another commenter - mount the brackets across 2 floor boards, add large washers to the bottom or a metal plate for added strength and security. I've been using my since May and love them. Quick and easy.
@BriGuy5035 жыл бұрын
Yea I used washers on the bottom and also mounted them across 2 boards. They have been working great for me so far. Been using them about 6 months now.

i like mine but put the handbrake on you truck before you put your utv on the trailer with that because the truck goes foward alot with no handbrake on and onother thing, if you live where there is winter and your trailer is outside make some wood boxe to put over it because ice will get in the track and you wont be able to put the strap on because the hooks wont go in and its a pain. Good review.

Best way to tie down UTVs by far
@luvs2race3702 жыл бұрын
That is simply an E-track system. They make many different attachments for that type of system including rings. So if you did wanna go to a taller tire you could simply get the ring attachments for the track system and use longer straps
@danburch99894 жыл бұрын
I did something similar. I like this tiedown system better. I got 8 D-rings and bolted them to the trailer floor with through bolts to 3/16" metal plates on the undeside of the deck (spreads the load). Then I used 2" wide ratchet straps cut to length. Anchoring to the SxS frame would seem to me that shock loads on rough roads might be excessive as the frame bounces. With this method, the SxS suspension system absorbs those shock loads. Any tie down system out there has their pluses and minuses. Using this method doesn't keep the UTV from sliding side to side especially on a very rough road to the staging area. If you have a wide trailer, the tire(s) could slide out from under the strap. It would have happend to mine but my trailer is 3" wider than my SxS making it impossible the SxS to slide too far sideways.
@patrickleyba11574 жыл бұрын
Dan, I was thinking of doing the same setup with d-rings. Have you had any issues? Any tips for install, and would you make any changes now that you have been using this set up?
@danburch99894 жыл бұрын
@@patrickleyba1157 No real changes needed at this point. I have a wood deck so I had to bolt all the way through and used 3/16" x 2" x 2" square washers that I made from 3/16" x 2" bar stock (1/8" stock would work just as well). I also used lock nuts (I didn't trust lock washers in this application. Just be sure that your ride doesn't shift side to side as this might cause the straps to shift off the tire. My ride is just about 2" narrower than my trailer so side to side shifting isn't possible. Just be sure to use 2" or wider straps. I cut the straps to length so I wouldn't have to deal with extra length straps flapping in the wind. I'll go to 3" when these wear out. The straps should hang vertically or slightly closer under the tire, not splayed out (hard for me to explain this). Example: If your tires are 30" overall diameter, the D-rings should not be more than 30" apart - something like this: \O/. I still chain the front of my ride to the trailer because I just felt safer. My trailer doesn't have a rear gate to keep my ride from rolling off backwards. A gate will come later.

I used this method for years and on my newest trailer instead of spending 120$+ to get the new 2 boxes needed to chock each wheel bought 2 5 foot etrack horizontal section and secured to floor and not can load and tie down like sub 2 minutes and I can tow flat stuff in trailer without compromising loads ability to balance on its own.

On single axle trailers you gotta load utv with heaviest part in fromt of trailer avoids trailer to wiggle while you’re on the road
@briangarcia23583 жыл бұрын
That applies to dual axle trailers as well. Load should be over axle as much as possible with the slightest heavier side up front. So most side by sides are rear engine, should be loaded backwards for best trailer performance. 👍🏽
@crystalavery25703 жыл бұрын
I understand what your saying about loading heavy to the front on single axle, I worry about the rear windshield though? Will it damage a polycarbonate windshield loading backwards? Also, what was the performance of the straps on rough roads, do they slip off?

He has through bolted these chocks through the single 2 x 6 only. The straps are solely relying on the Single 2 x 6 screwed to this trailer which is not ideal. They need to be bolted to the frame of the trailer. That 2 x 6 would turn loose if it is not attached properly.
