I'm watching this video on my Inspiron 16 plus. Literally the Legion slim 7 was my direct consideration for an alternative, as displayed in this video. Having owned this for over a month, I have had my fair share of issues with this laptop. I have the maxed out model with 32 gb ram and RTX 3060, and I got it on sale for $1350 (the price is why I chose it over the slim 7) before tax. This thing has amazing internal temps, but hot external temps, and the computer will be hot even doing light tasks. Issues I've had with this laptop: 1) Colors randomly go bland sometimes after waking from sleep, and usually revert back, but it once went bland and didn't revert, and I still don't know how to fix it. This seems to be a Windows issue, as the colors are fine in Linux. 2) Small buzz noise when idle 3) Overheating when completely asleep. The laptop will not go to sleep, and will just heat up like crazy (but fans are disabled because it's still technically asleep) and open with a blue screen. 4) Trackpad completely stopping working. I didn't have the clicking issues noted in this video, but I have had the trackpad completely shut off on me, until I rebooted. 5) Nvidia GPU enables itself whenever you plug any USB to the laptop, or whenever you launch most apps, which takes a huge hit on battery life. It just seems like something Dell hasn't managed properly. Don't expect the battery life in the video, because in reality, your GPU will turn on multiple times and just draw 16 watts doing absolutely nothing for a few mins every time you open a new program. The build of this laptop is excellent, the price to performance is excellent (it seems the RTX 3060 model, because it comes with an extra fan, caps the CPU at 53 watts instead of the 45 showed in this video). I would say this is a tough sell for gaming because of one thing-screen response time. It's absolutely abysmal. Unless you're playing open world games only, in which case it sort of acts like natural motion blur, the screen response time being so terrible has made my games feel bad to play. On the RTX 3060 model, I'm able to play GTA at max settings at 2.5k resolution at 60 fps. I want to love this laptop: when it works, it's amazing, but when it doesn't, it's completely frustrating. For reference, I'm an engineering student and casual gamer, and this is why I bought this laptop.

As far as I'm aware, the Slim 7 can get to that price point. However, I really don't get why they are talking so good about the 16 Plus. I watched their video on the Legion Slim 7 and, apparently, the Lenovo machine does everything better than the Dell one, but somehow they are impressed with the latter, while disappointed with the former. Wish I could get some clarifications on that note.

I got a great deal on the Inspiron 16 plus during a Dell Black Friday sale. I loved the laptop until I started having issues with the touchpad after 3 days. I contacted Dell and they offered to send a replacement but (due to their 30 day return policy from date of purchase policy) I declined because I was worried that the problem would be present on the replacement laptop and I would be stuck with it. Instead, I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 5 pro and the performance of the two laptops has been similar (no gaming, just video/photo editing). Of note, both laptops have terrible downward firing speakers with the Lenovo coming out slightly ahead of the Dell. I would love to see a side-by-side review of these laptops since they really are the transition between cheap and premium laptops.

Inspiron is a product line from Dell that was internally sabotaged to not be as good, so that it can't compete against their XPS. My 2016 Dell Inspiron had amazing specs at a killer price 5 years ago. i7-16GB-GTX 960- 4GB - 4K touch screen :-0, $1500 price tag. Then DELL in the following years started making them less and less good, because they wanted to promote their XPS. For some periods, it wasn't possible to find an Inspiron with a combination of high specs and affordable price.

Thanks for your excellent review. Perhaps the most direct competition for the Inspiron 16 Plus would be the Lenovo Ideapad 5 Pro 16" which comes equipped with either Intel or [higher powered] AMD processors. The Lenovo laptop has a similar 16:10 aspect ratio display rated at 350 nits and 100% sRGB, though with a slightly lower screen resolution of 2560 x 1600. The Ideapad 5 Pro models range in price from about $910 to $1020 and they actually might be an even better all-around value than the Inspiron 16 Plus. At the moment Lenovo may be experiencing some difficulty keeping these particular laptop versions in stock, but they do seem to be available at the Microsoft store.

Dell Inspiron 16 Plus i7610-7248BLU-PUS Laptop, i7-11800H. This particular model is on sale at COSTCO Canada right now. I'm confused that this was specd with Intel® UHD graphics instead of discreet RTX3060 you mentioned in the video.

Now why why would Dell call this 16 Plus and not 16 Pro? imagine the search system looking for this thing

Don't buy this computer, I have been using it for over a month and started to get problems with the touchpad with random taps and swipes, inaccurate finger tracking and there is no response from dell to solve the problem. I have the 3060 model with 32 Gb of ram so i spent a lot of money in a computer that doesn't work properly.

Great review. Thank you ! My biggest dilemma is to choose between the Dell Inspiron plus 16 and Lenovo Legion slim 7i. My goal is I need only performance, not for gaming but for other stuff. What would you recommend ?

Everything is awesome put the touchpad issue is a disaster on this. The first one I got, I sent back and got another one. The replacement also had the issue. (BTW - also it happens while in the BIOS so its not drivers) A Dell tech came out and replaced the touchpad on my 2nd laptop and maybe 2 months later the touchpad has problems again. I see a video about grounding the touchpad. I think I might try that. They recommend soldering it but that would void my warranty so I will try something else.

I'm going to disagree with your assessment of the intended market for the Dell. You say this tries to do a bit of everything, while i believe the actual "middle-point" laptop would be something like the Acer Swift X. The extra investment in sceen resolution and the addition of powerful graphics, along with the lack of a high refresh rate screen, make it a designer or content creator laptop IMO. A truly average user would likely invest in better build quality, or a premium design.

Just tried this laptop yesterday. Quality is not there. Trackpad is loose, keyboard is cheap. 3k res not needed for this size of display. I'll send it back. Disappointed.

For that price I think that thinkbook 16p is better deal. You get much brighter display with dolby vision + you get nvidia 3060 and much better cooling.

I got the 3060 model. The 3060 model has a 3 fan configuration as compared to the 2 fan in the 3050, getting better thermals. I also upgraded to 32Gb dual rank DIMM's overall its great for gaming too.

@@RanaAhmedNaazer I can confirm after 6 months I faced the trackpad issue. It's a hardware fault that can't be fixed with a bios update. Dell tried repairing mine and have ended up replacing the laptop completely now.

Thanks for your great review. Which docking station do you recommend for this system (preferably, something that could be used with the Thunderbolt 4 port)? I have two monitors with (only) HDMI ports, and I need something that charges the laptop as well.

Dude very good video, however if you want to hear my advice coming from the industry. Inspiron match should be pavilion , Ideapad and all the home line. Remember that you can have computers for business as Latitude , Thinkpad, Hp 440,640 , etc Or gaming low budget Inspiron G5 vs any low budget But Inspiron is made for home , comparing it even similar against a legion, omen, strix and razer is very unfair. The quality of those computers are higher. Try to match it accordly

looks like the Dell sd card slot is using the USB bus instead of the PCIe bus, I noticed Lenovo uses PCIe bus for SD cards and I can get 82 MB/s + vs. 20 MB/s
