Hi mate, great informative videos 👍 What did you use to treat the rust / paint the inside?!!!!

You literally are just like me, same ideas etc. got my L4H3 Transit last night, dead excited

for option 2 in the faults, it does cost more money, but the mk8.5 transit will come with either ford sync 3 or 3.4 if spec'd with nav, or sync 2.5 if not nav but still a touch screen. all of these screens were used standard across ford since about 2017 and still are standard on many foucs, fiesta, kugas and a bunch of other ford cars. these touch screens all have wired apple carplay and android auto

Solar panels attach to the roof rack and the vent put to one side of the roof!!!! Seen another van conversion where they cut the roof rack to fit around the fan!!!!

@@Wandering_Blue to long to explain but if you watch it. They cut roof rack to fit vent. Solar goes on roof rack. New higher wattage panels coming out all the time.

@@md2320 I’ll give them a watch, cheers.

The only bad thing I've heard about the transit is the injector failure, which can below and hole in the top of the piston.I like the automatic in the transit, I think I will try One next or maybe a Renault Master. I wouldn't have another German made van, I have a Mercedes at the moment. The German build quality must have been forgotten on my van👍
@Wandering_Blue Жыл бұрын
Nice yeah I have heard good things about the newer Renaults, nice looking too
@ironian24 Жыл бұрын
I've had 2 mercs long wheelbase, and injectors were a problem in both, did my research and it looks like the 2.2 ltr ford transit have a similar issue, whilst the 2ltr has a wet belt and had some recalls, thankfully not mine.

Here in the States we have Sprinters, Transits, and Promasters (Ram branded Ducatos). Sprinters are the “status” brand but they seem to have a lot of issues with the emission systems, DEF systems, etc. I hear a lot of horror stories from owners. Plus, there are only MB dealers in bigger cities, and not all work on vans. I sure can’t see any reason to buy one. If my Transit needs service or repairs, there are Ford dealers everywhere, and since the engine is also used in F-150 pickups, just about any mechanic will be familiar with it. By contrast, the nearest Benz dealer is 6 hours away from me. Lots of other reasons why I went with Ford over MB or Ram. We don’t have Iveco or Crafters here. And vans sure seem cheap there- your van would probably sell for $30K or more here.

I’m in the UK but it’s a similar situation, glad my content is relevant to you guys as well!

Dodge uses US engines that we don't have in the original Ducato. In the US there are lots of complaints about the Ram enige, while the Ducato here has an excellent quality image using a Iveco engines. Ford here has a rather bad rep for being unreliable, maybe the new series are better. Just shows how much influence living in different parts of the world can have on the choice for a vehicle.

I would say that the Sprinters are the real rustbuckets, Ivecos are the real workhorse and all the rest are middlefield. I would only go for a Iveco if it was 4x4, then it's worth the money and the smaller network of repairshops. So I would also go for a Transit, because it, like me, have those extra inches... (although I'm metric) A couple of more inches of insulation in the floor/ceiling is worth a lot when you live where it gets 40 below
@Wandering_Blue Жыл бұрын
Exactly! I’ve insulated the floor and will be doing the roof soon so those extra MM add up 🤙🏼

I thought the boxer, relay etc were wider and taller in the back?
@ironian24 Жыл бұрын
I just bought one myself,I am 6'3" or 1895mm tall, so needed a tall van. What engine is yours? Mine is the 2ltr rwd and found out that its a wet belt, not a chain Cam belt, so they recommend you change it after 10 years or 150k miles some were recalled and some blew well before that. Mine has done 141k on a 2019 plate so is due a cam belt change. Cost for this is £900. But over all its a great van and has aircon as a bonus. I'm a cabinet maker so building my van is going to be fun.

Nice! Yeah I’m 6’2 so same as you mate. It’s the 2.2 RWD but will look into if I might have the same issue
@ironian24 Жыл бұрын
@The Wandering Blue the 2.2 ltr has a common fault with the injectors

Hi mate I had that idea ,if I'm abroad with my new ford transit and it breaks down it won't be a problem, that was until my 18 month old ford m sport transit crew cab broke down in Germany. My turbo actuator failed which meant I had no boost . I limped it to the local ford garage. To my horror the vans are all now made in Turkey and the van needed a new turbo .problem was the turbos were on back order. Which meant my van was stuck in Germany for 2 months. I had to fly home minus my new transit. I now have a brand new volkswagan t6.1 204 dsg lwb highline kombi swamper camper built by Van haven. My new van has missed a beat to date .

Hi mate looking to get a transit myself but people keep saying they’re unreliable and suffer with a wet belt and other engine problems what would your response be to them because l3h3 transit is perfect for me in every other way cheers

6 Months in the only issue i've had is a ABS sensor, i'd say go for it!
@ab-ym3bf Жыл бұрын
There is no "best van". So many people, so many personal choices, plus it also depends on where you live for which versions some of the vans can be delivered. The extra high roof version of the Ducato/Boxer/Jumper for instance is not for sale in the US, and for me a necessity for its hight. Choose the van that fits your wishes, and every van will be the perfect one for you. And the nightmare of someone else. Good luck with your build.
