I’m in Houston, TX. My 92 year old Me Maw is sick and usually makes this every year for Christmas. We’re doing our families Christmas together when she gets out of the hospital. I’m making it this year since she is sick and 92, she definitely needs a break. I love that lady so so much! The only thing she doesn’t add is the peas and Italian seasoning. Hey Heady I live in Northern California but I was born and raised in North Georgia. Work brought me out here over 30 years ago. I go back often but the mild weather keeps me here 😊. Cajun is my favorite cuisine. The soup you just made is similar to what my mama use to make. I never got the recipe from her so I’m glad you shared this recipe now I can try to recreate it. Hi, I’m watching you from Niagara Falls Canada. I make a stew like this but I put mine in the oven for 1.5 hrs (350 degrees). Love that you added more water and cooked it on the stovetop, and added barley at the end. Thanks for sharing & listing your ingredients. God Bless.

Hi. I am from SE, Louisiana, too. I love your video. It’s perfect! I do a couple things different, tho… I use V-8 juice rather than tomato paste & I use canned tomatoes - (fresh tomatoes today, since we have so many) - but usually canned tomatoes. I Love the way you layer veggies in - that’s key! Oh, & for a great ‘beefy flavor’, I use ‘Wyler’s beef bouillon cubes”, & always add a spoon or two of “Better than Boullion”. (A beef base). I know it’s salty, but just don’t add any salt at all. *** I get ALL the salt I need in my ‘Tony Chacherie seasoning’ & “Beef Bouillon” since they’re Both so Salty. Bon appétit.
