Yes, I make my two kids organic berry milkshake with spirulina, 100% grass-fed collagen and MCT oil/powder daily. I blend those ingredients with great quality almond milk and coconut cream. Before I would sweeten it with less than half a banana, but since watching Dr. Berg videos, I add a little monkfruit and/or inulin instead. My seven-year-old son and 22-month daughter love it! And aside from the breastmilk for my baby daughter, it's usually the first thing they consume.

Hello Dr berg. Ive been taking spirulina for the longest time and what i learned is spirulinas b12 is called pseudo b12. It actually reduces our b12 in our bodies. I had a bloodtest done before and to my surprise i was really low on b12, And during that period ive been taking spirulina on a daily basis in my smoothies. So i did some research and i stumbled upon this article that says spirulina’s b12 is called pseudo b12.

I personally take chlorella because it seems to me from the research I've done that spirulina has the potential to have more ingredients that are toxic or cause toxicity. But that doesn't mean that Chlorella can't have the it's own issues. I recently purchased a large bag of organic chlorella tablets that when I open them up instead of smelling like a typical Chlorella they smelled like I just walked on a shrimp boat that had been sitting out in the sun and rotting for a few days. So to find a good supplier and a consistent supplier can sometimes be very tricky.

After watching this video I started researching on my own and I found: -Studies on Spirulina are mainly done on animals and those who are done on humans are either inconclusive or faulty often due to small sample size -80% of Spirulina's B12 isnt utilizeable by the human body -Spirulina apparently binds iron which can lead to iron deficiency -it can cause allergic reactions -many spirulina products are contaminated by heavy metals and other harmful compounds Can you please follow up on this, because I dont know what to believe now.
@rebeccavogel4899
@rebeccavogel4899 2 жыл бұрын
It looks like Dr. Berg's sources are organic and without heavy metal or pesticide/ herbicide components as are his line of products. I cannot comment about binding iron or absorption. Were the studies on absorption done with healthy folks - healthy digestion - gluten free? I suspect, if there are additives, then they could cause allergic reactions especially if there is a effect concerning zonulin modulators of the intestine (gut permeability).

I regularly watch Dr bergs videos and have benefited immensely from the wisdom shared. Although I am hugely disappointed, with this presentation,that there was no mention of the analogues present in spirulina that prove to be a deterrent in b12 absorption, on the contrary , it is deceptive to promote the ingredient as Pro b12 when it is definitely not. I suppose profits take precedence over integrity sometimes.

I put a spirulina in the sugar syrup i use to feed my bees when wintering them down. It is similar to seaweed extracts but in a less cumbersome way. Gut health & variety of food sources are a big thing for bees, they also drink liquid from mycelium, are enriched with a multiflora pollen/nectar diet & do many things that are naturally health promoting. Ths is why they drink from pools because chlorine is a salt, bees need traces of salt. Bees are just as health consous as us

Spirulina is a type of bacteria called cyanobacterium, which is often referred to as blue-green algae. While health claims for spirulina supplements include purported benefits to our blood pressure, cholesterol, and seasonal allergies, health concerns include potential risk of muscle breakdown, liver cancer, and liver toxicity. Indeed, 94 percent of samples were reported to be contaminated with hepatotoxic microcystin toxins, and a potent neurotoxin appears to have been found in spirulina supplements, as well. Researchers have reported a range of adverse reactions of people taking spirulina products, but they attribute these issues to non-spirulina algae toxin contaminants within spirulina supplements. So unless there is third-party testing of each batch, which no company could presumably afford to do, it may be prudent to avoid spirulina products.

Juice Plus capsules can be opened & go well in a shake, I do that, & they have chewables for kids which are yummy, I get those too when I can - not cheap but they have a children's study so can get chewables for a child free with adult getting capsules. I believe spirulina shouldn't be taken, though, if you've got leaky gut and/or autoimmune disorders. This is likely because the proteins in spirulina are similar enough to some of the protein sequences found in genetic code that once the proteins from the spirulina leaks into the blood stream through the gut wall and causes antibodies to form, cells will similar protein sequences may be seen as foreign invaders by immune cells which tag them as such and causes your own body to be confused and start attacking itself. spirulina unfortunately isn't for everyone.
