R.I.P. Kevin Williams and Stuart Thompson. Both young lads who I knew well from Formby. Kevin always popping in the shop I worked in each morning with a smile and a jaunty walk for his 'Kola Kubes' before school and his Roy of the Rovers comic each week.Stuart the 'quiet man' who said not a lot but always looked thoughtfull. A great loss.

Seen this comment 4 years later, shame it's so much later. I don't support Liverpool though they are local to me, as I am actually from Formby myself. Got to give credit to these amazing fans though, as every time I listen to "You'll never walk alone" it makes me emotional. May Kevin Williams and Stuart Thompsonn continue to rest in peace, men from my own home town.

My dad's ashes were scattered on this field and this song was uses at his memorial. He died on the soccer field 10 minutes after getting his last goal at the age of 68.

You mean football field?
@witchbax8 жыл бұрын
+JackCentralYT yes, but that's not the field he died on. He died on a local soccer field at a park where some of his ashes were scattered and my mother took the rest to Liverpool and the groundskeeper scattered them. She was not allowed on the field herself.

Same as with my nephew. He loved football and got so excited when he was kicking a football around or when football came on the tele. He absolutely loved his Liverpool kit and would sing "You'll never walk alone" when giving cuddles all the time. He was only 19 months old when he passed. My sister had "You'll never walk alone" played at his funeral- along with a video of Joshie singing it. The song will always make me cry but it also makes me smile remembering just how much Josh loved the sing and I can picture him and hear him in my head singing it. Precious memories. Thinking of you x x x

I've never heard a song that can portray such emotion or bring you to tears just by listening to it, even if there's no special reason for it to be sang. The 96 though make this more special. The sound was less of a hearty song but a song sang with the determination not to break down in tears. With the latest news though it seems the lost have been vindicated and maybe have their day in court. When I listen to this song I wish I was Liverpudlian and have that real connection to this song and Liverpool's history., Liverpool was and is such a great source of talent and I love going there.

The justice for the 96 was long in coming but the striving for it brought Liverpool fans across the world together in support of the families who lost loved ones at Hillsborough. I am always moved by the singing of "You'll Never Walk Alone" at the start of every home game, but this particular rendition by the fans was deeply moving and I have sent a link to all my friends who are LFC fans. This song, resulting from the genius of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, from their second musical collaboration, "Carousel," and was meant to be every bit as inspirational and emotional as it comes out. I am certain Messrs. R & H would approve of the use of their song in this case. One cannot make it through the song with a dry eye, it's just that powerful.
