The E-Image GA752 legs are a steal at $199. They have a single stage lock like the Sachtler Flowtech. That feature is a must for me. I paired it with a Benro S7 which I got for under $150 and a cheap ball-head adapter. For under $400, I think it's a great setup. I compared it to my friend's Flowtech + Manfrotto 504HD combo and I didn't feel like I was missing out at all. Those Teris heads look like a great deal though. I bet between a similarly priced Benro or Manfrotto, the Teris looks like it has more features and a higher weight capacity.

@ScottDumas5 жыл бұрын
The GA752 legs look nice- I like the Teris TS-N6Q legs for the same single lock reason. The Flowtech with the locks at the top are still the easiest but I just can't justify the cost and when raising it really high having the locks at the top can actually be kind of awkward. I'll probably switch the legs from the TCE and the legs on the TS-N6Q to be honest since the TCE will be my on-the-go tripod while the TS-N6 has stayed in my studio most of the time, doesn't need much height adjustment. As for the head- I agree with what Joe said... he adjusted his expectations accordingly for a $150 head, but from my experience with the S7 it's nowhere near something like the TCE (or of course the TS-N6). I've never used the GH05 but it looks decent. Still, for just a bit more I'd personally recommend getting the cheaper aluminum version of the TCE and then swapping out the legs for the E-Image or something else if you really want to. Not sure if the Teris head would be available for purchase by itself without the legs... I'll have to ask.

My ENG rigged Sony FS5 weighs in at 7KG so I use maximum resistance all the time but it has served me well and would highly recommend it. If you use the adapter for the Manfrotto plate, then the camera will be mounted 2-3 centimeters higher. This means that the lever will increase and the head will no longer withstand 7 kg of load, but less. Miliboo tripod review - it costs half the price and is very high quality.

Thanks for the rec. Definitely going to check out their offerings. How are you feeling about that F6? I have an E2 and am thinking about picking up the F6 when it becomes available again.
@ScottDumas5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching :) The F6 is incredible- I haven't tested it in any controlled way yet but shooting with the E2 and F6 on the same shoot I feel like the F6 had noticeably more usable DR and much nicer noise performance. Nothing like saying the E2 isn't enough, but I could feel the difference editing the two cameras which were side by side during an interview with fairly challenging lighting. I really like the new button layout and card slot on the opposite side too, small details but it makes the usability that much more pleasant. Feels like a really great balance of super high resolution/full frame sensor, but also higher frame rates when you sacrifice the crop. Just waiting on the drop in filter and maybe a cage at some point. Absolutely worth the money if it's in your budget :)
@FTGTapGod5 жыл бұрын
@@ScottDumas Thanks for the reply! The little things are what really stand out to me when using a camera so I appreciate it. I was hoping the bump in photosite pitch would bring that better DR and noise performance. It was just a spec on paper though so knowing it's fairly noticeable, even anecdotally, is great. I'm selling my RED Scarlet and even though my budget for an A cam is a bit higher, I keep coming back to the F6. Working with the E2 is just so easy. A slightly more ergonomic E2 with a better sensor sounds like a dream. I haven't used one yet though so it's great to hear from someone that has had some time with it.

Great information Scot, thanks, and timely as I'm looking to get a light weight, but still pretty decent travel video tripod. Is there the option to easily remove / re-attach the spreader if you want to set up on uneven ground etc? You ever use a Miler DS10 head? How does it compare. Should be lighter as my miller head is beefy. The minimum length is listed at 720mm. Is that height off the ground with nothing extended? Do you know what the in-bag size is? I'm figuring if it can be transported in my suitcase when flying.
@ScottDumas5 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks so much and super sorry for the late reply!! Unfortunately, the spreader would need a tool to remove it seems. As a mid-level spreader though I wouldn't imagine it should get in your way if you're on uneven ground, you can still extend the legs at different lengths no problem. I haven't used the Miller but I know they're super solid products and there are some good people behind them at that company too. Like you said- beefy for sure haha, but solid nonetheless. This head will give you a little more in terms of individual steps of counterbalance that makes it easier to balance more camera rigs even before tuning in the drag, plus I think it can hold just a bit more weight (I think). I think 720mm is the height from the ground to the top of the head with the spreader extended to let it sit a little lower (with the spreader pulled in all the way, fully retracted legs have the top of the head sitting right around 780mm) The bag is a fairly snug fit so it should be just a little longer than that, around 800mm I think. Hope that helps and sorry again for the delayed reply!

Hello, thx for the review. I have a question here, can we separate the tripod and the video head of this setup? if i'm using this tripod with a slider above it, should i buy another video head for the slider to do more camera movement? or should i just buy a ifootage ta6+k5 combo instead?
@ScottDumas4 жыл бұрын
The one downside of this is that (as far as I can tell) you cannot separate the bowl base and the video head to get a flat base for the tripod. You can take the entire video head out, so if you get a flat bowl off Amazon (they have them cheap, any 75mm flat bowl will work) you can use that with the tripod legs. What I've been doing though is putting the quick release plate for the TERIS under the slider, and mounting the slider on top of the video head (with the K5 or something then on top of the slider) ...allows you to angle the slider and get some interesting movements. hope that answers the question!

Would you say the Cayer bv25lh is still a good budget option?
@ScottDumas4 жыл бұрын
Depending on what you need ...just keep in mind the Cayer does not have the adjustable counterbalance like this and also no real drag control. You can loosen the lock a bit on the tilt axis to get some drag making up for the lack of adjustable counterbalance, but the pan axis does NOT work well that way. I do like the flat base of the head though and I often use the ball base under a slider, with the head on top. It's been getting a lot of use that way for me.

Hey, glad you love it! Yeah... the non-manfrotto style plate was my one disappointmet. It's so close but just a bit too wide to be compatible. You could grab a manfrotto base plate from smallrig or off amazon or something, and attach that on top of the TERIS plate so that you can still use your small rig compatible plate (I'm guessing it's manfrotto style). Or if your shoulder rig is VCT style, you could get the VCT base plate and use the TERIS plate to mount that onto the TCE. Hope that helps.

One day, one day I guess I'll get a "video" tripod like those... But for now my main usage is some static shots mostly for YoutTube and travel, which means I need something stable for my setup which doesn't get to 2KG mostly and tje tripod needs to be light, so I use for some time now the Manfrotto befree carbon which I like (sorry for mentioning the company lol) But I wonder what would be your choice for a good travel tripod, might be a good vide as well
@ScottDumas5 жыл бұрын
Haha how dare you say the M-word! ;) I think the key thing here is that you said static shots mostly. In that case it really doesn't matter quite so much. The main things would be something stable if you're shooting outdoors so the wind doesn't shake it (and strong enough to hold the weight of course, but most tripods are). A super cheap head might slip at certain angles but as long as it's rated for enough weight then it should do the trick. After that is size, weight, etc. The Befree can do the trick for that, I also liked the MeFoto series and as kind of crossover tripods the new selection from iFootage is really quite good. In any case, once you're introducing movement into your shot is when you really need to start considering something like this :) Helps a lot for smooth pans and tilts plus making sure that all stays perfectly level.

@@ScottDumas Ye I got that, didn't know that iFootage create tripods, or maybe I though of a company with a similar name lol... For movement, in my case it will probably be some sort of moving left or right for a nicer shot of a product that I'm showing, So I'm starting to think of a slider, you actually I remember showed some cool small slider, when I'll decide it's time (I try not to over budget my still small KZbin channel lol) I'll take a look at it again... You've had me scouring for information on the Teris products for a full day so far. Their site really doesn't reveal the details of the various models so maybe you can help because I watched this and the video you produced that is on their site. Spreaders: All Teris models seem to be ground spreaders. I like to take my gear out to rivers and parks as well as using it inside. How do I cope with that? Illuminated bubble level. If it wasn't for your other video I would not know some have it, some don't. The website is no help on knowing which. Drop in top plate vs Manfrotto style slide in from the back plates. Again, I can't see which tripod kits have heads with top plates. I want to buy a carbon fiber package for a camcorder total payload under 5 kg in the next two months. Teris-Tech needs a fresh director of photography in their marketing department. Did I say keep up the good work? Your presentation style is good. The number one goal is getting the information received, not how flashy you send it.
