The gun on the left is actually a different thing and extremly personal: you gotta do a test with you hands to see which of your eyes is the “dominant” one and depending on the result you will need to swap the side. So if your dominant eye is the left one you gitta keep the gun on the right, viceversa if it is the other eye

it has to do with eye dominance so if you really wanna find out which side to put it on, take an online test. its kinda a shame that you cant bind it to a key like in csgo because then you can peek angles without having to worry about yo big gun blocking the enemies. but anyway its usually preference, and its not the best for everyone

There is a mode that darkens the edges of your screen which helps me a bit. I do not do the left handed gun thing though. I can attest to the other two being good. Purple is also easier to see on maps that are kind of red-ish.
