The BEST WALK in NEW ZEALAND!

The Ruakuri Bushwalk is located in the Waitomo region of New Zealand not far from the famous Waitomo Caves. The walk takes 30 minutes (according to the sign), but in reality you can easily spend a couple of hours.
The walk has many caves and similar rock features. The rivers disappear underground and reappear making for a very interesting and confusing walk. At one point the river enters a large cavern where you can go underground to a platform hanging a frightening way above the water below.
The walk also contains glowworms, making it a great night time walk, with glowworms in the caves but also on the trees and rock faces along parts of the track. Doing the whole walk at night including the underground viewing platform is quite a thrill.
Caves, waterfalls, viewing platforms, tunnels, underground viewing, bridges, wetas, glowworms, birds...what more could you want.
This is my favourite short bush walk in New Zealand, others may disagree, feel free to tell me your favourite in the comments below.

I have never used this sentence in english before but this video was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! my eyes were on every palm tree. I love caves. Usually when we mountain hike l am always the last one to reach the top because l have to expore all the caves on our way. When l saw these rock formations l tought only magic beings live there. Than you said giant cicidas! I saw on documentary that they can freeze to death and than when warmer days come they just wake up like its nothing and their little heart starts beating again l respect them so much. And glow warms l need to see! I don't think l'll even go to sleep. Too bad there is no swinging bridge anymore but that's ok New Zealand is already so much fun!

I notice no sounds of cicada's that are normally always present in NZ Native bush..hmmm,strange considering it's 24degrees you say,that's summer temps,they would normally would be shrilling loudly in your ears sometimes deafening..though I did hear a fantail twitter at the very end..again thanks for sharing our beautiful New Zealand scenery it's inspiring and I think I'll film some myself now.
