I do not own a detailing business but I really get your point! It's basically just provide the service that the car needs and the price that the customer is willing to pay. Deliver the service based on the price they are paying and make them feel satisfied.

In my opinion, forgo the small jobs, market yourself as high end. Time vs £ return will be better and you can do less volume but earn more. Then you can standardise your packages, where your minimum detail price is sufficient such that if you only got one a day it would be a solid income.

I agree with your approach. For me, I try to have a more standard approach so I don't have to talk for an hour with the customer over the phone. My default wash method is to foam with a product that can attack the road film then pressure rinse. If I am to do a chemical decon, I would do it after those two steps. Last step is rinseless wash. If I have no other work to do the on the vehicule, I dry the vehicule using a nana-ceramic sealant as a drying aid. If I have polishing to do after, I simply dry the vehicule with micro fiber towels and proceed to do the polishing. I have stopped using soaps to wash the vehicle several years ago and never regreted it. Rinseless is a much better method, especially if you have to work in the sun like I do... I can do pannel by pannel wash and not get waterspots.

recently I started to just prespraying with rinseless and going straight ahead with rinseless. it works just fine unless theres lots of mud

After the tire & wheels which i feel are the most tedious part its down hill from there.. its bug and tar remover all the way around the lower panels & bumpers of the car then i foam a degreaser over the tar & bug remover, take a bug mit and clean the lower half of the car then i foam and contact wash; after that i use a rinseless wash & wax to dry the car then i wipe the windows down and thats that .

I absolutely DO NOT waste time with pre-washing. For new customers I do foam, rinse, foam, agitation, rinse, dry. The agitation step contains all my broad strokes decon (iron/fallout, tar and sap) with a perforated synthetic decontamination towel instead of the soft mf towels I use for washes that don't get decon. I've shaved my wash stage time by 50% without changing my costs, reduced the number of steps I take (pedometer confirmed) and actually improved the final result making it more efficient to get to polishing/coating. Years ago completing a coating or multi-stage correction was a 10 to 12 hour ordeal but now I can be done with a single stage before lunch, multi stage correction just means a late lunch....no big deal.

Personally, I do an apc or a high ph soap like labocosmetica primus or Koch Chemie sfn- let dwell, do cracks and emblems, rinse, then rinseless and dry. Much faster. All depends on though on filth- lots of times just rinseless and pre spray is enough. I like to take my time on wheels(which I could get faster at) but I think with my savings and going faster on wheels cuts my time down FAST.

Agree with all your points. What if the car is in great condition but the customer just don’t care about the car or just don’t have much knowledge about what it takes to keep it looking brand new?

Explain it to them and leave it up to them to make the decision

Diluted degreaser for bugs, dirt on plastic then heavy duty cleaner for tires, wheels and wheelhouse then wash floor mats and whole vehicle. Multiple rags and cleaning tools for specific areas. Don’t do the most if it’s not making you more money. Just do it quick but professional for the customer 👍🏽 I get it technology is different from back then and marketing has changed for sure.

The fastest method is discovered is the following. Pressure wash it down, foam, let the foam drip off, pressure wash foam off, foam again, have 10 wash Meguiars wash mitts sitting in a bucket of soapy water, contact wash the vehicle in sections using the 10 wash mits, pressure wash off soap. If you're fast and use wax soap, you could be done in 20 minutes. Turbo nuzzling the wheels will take extra time, assuming not too dirty.

Just onr would be way faster..
@henri65954 ай бұрын
@SPPACATR Yes and no. If you use one, you risk getting scratches. If you have 5 or 10, I prefer 10, you have a very slim chance of scratches. It's expensive but my car is 5 years old and not a single scratch besides highway rock chips 🤣😅
