In this video I introduce the Mohawk RevWood Premier, a new waterproof laminate flooring product available in 2022 that in my opinion is the most realistic wood look product out of both the laminate and vinyl plank categories. The improvement of its registered embossing process in the new SigNature technology results in the greatest replication of real hardwood flooring I have seen out of any man-made alternative products.
Be sure to comment your thoughts down below and let me know what your favorite color is from the RevWood line! I try to answer questions posted in the comments below as frequently as I can so feel free to post those down below as well. If you enjoyed this video all I ask is to hit that thumbs up button for me so that others will hopefully benefit from the information as well. Subscribe if you'd like to see more videos from me and feel free to let me know what information you might like to see covered in a future video.

Robert I am so glad I found your KZbin post! I think you've convinced me to switch my new flooring choice to Mohawk. I just need to decide whether or not to go with the Redwood plus or Premiere. I took a look at the Morena Bluffs-Cattail pecan and the sunbathed pecan and like them both. Also like a couple of the Castlebriar colors...and like that they also have a 9.5" plank. I'm curious what the cost differences are between the plus and premiere? Definitely prefer the most waterproof and scratchproof. Thank you!

Love this video. I find it so helpful. I am looking at one of the newer Ivey Gates floors. I wish you would do a review on these. I need a Revwood floor to go with a lot of "orangeish" maple cabinets that I cannot paint. Thinking about the Ivey Gates Nantucket Beige but can't get my hands on it! I do not like a super light floor as I am puttig it in a lot of other rooms on the same floor. Do you have any suggestions? I am sold on Revwood!

I just put down Mohawk RevWood Premier Morena Bluffs Pecan Cattail in my living & dining room. It looks great. Went together real nice. No gaps. Every plank is nice and tight. I have Mirage Hardwood (which you can't do better than but it's so expensive) in the foyer next to it and in the kitchen. An HVAC service tech came over and asked is that laminate or hardwood. I said laminate. He said it looks like real wood...I also have a German Shepherd "HavoK". He jumped up ran/scraped his claws across the laminate hearing someone at the door. I saw marks and thought he scratched the laminate. It was actually his paw nails that were shaved down from the floor. I got a wet cloth and boom it/the marks were gone. This laminate is very scratch resistant if they with, stood what he did...

Its a Laminate Flooring. Revwood does what they call a "floating die" when they manufacture this product. It has the average amount of screens/scans that other flooring has, but the punch die that does the boards moves around a bit, so the pattern will show up on different parts of the boards. Helps keep them looking different, by not increasing how many prints they are putting on the board. Its a sneaky way to make it look like it has more scans, but without adding all the extra cost to doing so.

I just went to a store and saw a beautiful sample of "Western Row" or "Western Point" RevWood Plus in "Red Clay Oak". Right now light wood, minimal texturing, and wide planks are popular, none of which appeals to me. I love RevWood's faux hand-scraped texture and the narrower (6 1/8 inch) plank combined with the register embossing and the darker "Red Clay Oak" color, all of which combines to sell a convincing "heirloom wood" look. However, a flooding accident in my kitchen and living room area is the reason I am looking for flooring in the first place, which has made me keenly aware that moisture can come from below as well as above, and I'm not sure RevWood would stand up well to a similar assault of moisture. While the RevWood is a strong contender, I'd also like to find comparables in luxury vinyl planking. Because of the trend for really flat flooring, I'm having trouble finding the hand-scraped textures. Here's the important question: are you aware of any LVP products that have a convincing hand-scraped texture in darker warm-toned woods? I'll settle for wider planks if I have to, but the hand-scraped texture really makes a big difference to the "look". Thanks in advance for any help, I'm finding your videos very useful indeed during this somewhat stressful search!!

None of the waterproof floors are flood proof and in case of leaks/floods any of these are likely to be replaced. That goes for LVT and laminate. I dont believe any LVT has the same degree of texture that the higher grade laminates offer. Moisture is not an issue for Revwood as you put a barrier underneath, however, a flood is not a moisture issue.
@daleludtke7803

@@RemodelWithRobert agreed. That is an insurance issue. My main jam was restoration projects.. supplying materials for companies doing flood and fire. I constantly had to tell people, "What you think waterproof is, and what waterproof actually is are two different things... that tile you lost was also waterproof. And LVP won't fix that the same issue happens."

I had one more question I hope you could answer. One of the contractors giving bids recommended a 5mm type of recycled rubber (forget what it's called?). For the downstairs floors it is going over 18" tiles. Do you know if this can also be used with the Mohawk Redwood Premiere/Plus laminate floors?
@RemodelWithRobert
@RemodelWithRobert Жыл бұрын
I would refer you to Mohawks guidlines for installation for a thorough guide as I don't give specific advice for each job without seeing it myself. The rubber should be dense enough to provide a solid underlayment for the floor but there could be a variety of conditions in your home that would dictate what the best install would be. The warranty is also important to consider when installing to make sure you dont void any part of Mohawk's warranty and that your installer will be there to warranty any install issues. Hope that helps

The Costco Line will be Revwood, not Revwood premier. Has the same wear layer, but less scans/prints and will have much of the additional waterproofing stuff stripped out of it. i have heard many bad reviews of revwood select, many saying the flooring is trash and dented after two years. Have you heard any complaints ?
@RemodelWithRobert
@RemodelWithRobert 5 ай бұрын
I personally have a Mohawk product that predates revwood, and 9 years later looks great. Although the revwood select is the entry point of the line. I've found that it holds up very well to all the normal wear that we subject it to on a daily basis. Denting a floor is not a time based issue of how long a floor has been down, but a matter of what it was subjected to that would dent it. I've found that RevWood holds up as well as any laminate available, but the type of abuse some households are subjected to will cause any floor to disappoint. For this reason, many online reviews are very subjective and dont tell a full story. I hope that helps!

RevWood is the best laminate on the market. While you can get ones with more waterproofing, or stronger wearlayers (I am seeing AC5s and even a 6 showing up...) there really isn't a need. That AC4 of a Revwood is commercially rated, and AC5s and 6s are heavy commercial or light industrial rated... you don't really need more. Its price point is phenomenal compared to its competitors. This particular collection is very new. Premier is top shelf Revwood. Its not really any "better" mechanically than Revwood Plus, it just looks even better. Revwood Select, and Plus are also sneaky. Pergo and NatureTek are also Revwood. Just sold under different brand names since Mohawk owns the company. They have different looks, but are the same product. I am a laminate shill... I love the stuff.

Hi, my friend in the flooring business, who I think is kind of an LVP pusher, said he would never put anything under 12 mm in his house, partly because of differences in the height of the replaced floor might create issues with undercuts already being too high but also durability. The Redwood plus we like, Adler Creek Toasted Toasted Timber Oak, is only 8mm. I noticed all the Premier line is 12 mm and the Locking system is actually different. Anyway, do you have an opinion on what the difference might be between buying 8mm vs 12 mm in the RevWood line?
@daleludtke7803
@daleludtke7803 Жыл бұрын
@@cutoats there are not many 12mm LVPs out there, and those are usually far more expensive than you should need to spend for a floor. 12mm products have the advantage of making up the height difference between things like tile and sheet vinyl installed over particle board easier. So you have less of a transition height. For people swapping out wood, it also means you do not usually have to drop your baseboard trims as much (if at all depending on the wood). When it comes to quality? The 8mm has all the same warranties, scratch resistance and water resistance (heck, the plus can be steam mopped on the lowest setting), and if installed correctly shouldn't have any problems. Now that being said. Thicker products that have more meat on them tend to handle shifting or uneven floors better. This is not normally an issue with a professional install from a reputable company, as they will level correctly, but self installers often skip that, or think the pad will make up the difference. Over the last year or two, we have been seeing alot of claims on budget priced LVP products that are about 4-5mm thick, they are seperating. Now Revwood? It has like a .06% product failure rate. If it has issues, it is almost always an issue on the install side, which means you get your installer involved with your install warranty. That is a good looking floor, and probably at a great price point. I don't have that particular line showing in my store, but I have a similar product called Sterlington from Revwood that sells well in my area (mostly because it looks like an older strip oak and is easier to match to the cabinets in my area.). Its good stuff!
