A lot of rims don't have centre wells anymore, ,which makes it even harder to install cushcore.
@JesseMelamedMTB3 жыл бұрын
If that’s the case then definitely stretch out the Cush core beforehand. It won’t need to be as tight if there is no well for it sink into
@JEMTB903 жыл бұрын
Are you still having trouble with that tyre? haha
@domanater480 Жыл бұрын
Hey Jesse, what tyres do you run ? I tried a dhr2 2.4 dh casing in the rear and it was a slug
@walterbrown63883 жыл бұрын
Do you find that a cush core could be stretched TOO much? Will it stretch out with multiple removal and installs? - so much stretch that it is no longer as effective at keeping the tire from squirming? Seems like it it gets too stretched, it would just roll off the rim in a hard corner?
@JesseMelamedMTB3 жыл бұрын
I think that does become a possibility, it would still do the majority of its job well, but it may not limit the tire roll as much. It still would be way better than not having cush core, but it wouldn't be as good as new

@JesseMelamedMTB3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the track! I ride around 19-20 psi front and rear with cush core
@frober303 жыл бұрын
Jesse, perhaps a little off topic, but if you flat with a cushcore insert in place during a race do you recommend riding it out and finishing stage? Obviously would be terrain dependent but in general is it doable without annihilating the rim?
@tylerbruce57313 жыл бұрын
I would think in a competitive race situation youd ride until you couldnt. Safety considered of course.
@JesseMelamedMTB3 жыл бұрын
In most circumstances I would finish the stage as is. It's definitely totally doable without damaging the rim. That's a huge bonus that isn't talked about, with the CushCore. It allows you not to lose too much time in a race. In Chile, years ago, I was sitting in 3rd going into the last stage and flatted with 5 minutes left or so and I was able to still charge and held onto 5th place. I would have been waaaay further down if I didn't have CushCore in.

Ok, well I do a lot to reduce my footprint. That includes what I mentioned about bringing home our one-use race parts to keep using at home and run them into the ground, rather than just putting brand new stuff on. I am constantly trying to reduce the amount of product I burn through. I also don't drive to the trails when I'm home and limit my travel when I'm not going away racing. I also buy carbon offsets for all my traveling and the rest of my life.
