It does make sence... on the other hand I also see people saying not to do this, but do it as a bench press, contracting shoulder blades and keeping them fixed not to injure shoulders.
@gmsofficial4725 жыл бұрын
Protracting is one of the most important things when it comes to push ups, it makes it so much harder, yet it feels better for sure 💪🏽🔥🤟🏽
@obits35 жыл бұрын
This is what makes the push-up and push-up progressions better than bench press for most people. It is simply a more full movement pattern. The only weakness of the push-up is the inability to micro load it like bench, but that only really matters if you care about heavy benching.
@erockthehorse5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip this helped me a lot because whenever I did pushups I couldn’t do the full range of motion without forcing myself and this makes it feel way more natural

Since a month and half ago when I stopped CrossFit and switch to calisthenics I've seen my body start to cut. I can do 6 pull ups since starting a basic regiment of 3 sets 10pull up negatives, 10 pushup and 20 squats. In cross fit I could only do 1 pull up bearly. This lead me to remember how often during CrossFit I do full rang of motion the coaches could say hey your doing great but your doing it much harder than it needs to be. Thank you for sharing your fitness techniques.

Man this is what I learned from doing rehabilitation training for my damaged shoulders. I searched for scapula strengthening ways and I found a video about how many (supposedly) do it wrong. That you should rather push your scapula out and straighten your back while still pushing out. I don't know if it's true, but my push ups are smooth and do not hurt as they did in the past, by simply squeezing them together

Awesome video Austin. I totally do this when doing pushups. I go up into downward dog alot too its like a strech. Now Im putting my hands real close under my chest closer to the center of mass. I can only do a few because those are so hard. I go allll the way down right above the floor and press from the center more. It great on the shoulders, keeps your arms right next to your body.

What is the benefit, doing such exercise?
@FacePullTiToX5 жыл бұрын
@@SweetPuppyDogo which exercise do you mean? The facepulls?
@RiseandRecharge5 жыл бұрын
DarkRealmEnigma Face pulls train the often neglected muscles around the shoulder blade and also the rotator cuff muscles. They also work the rear delts, and some upper back muscles. Important to balance your pushes with your pulls and are necessary to maintain good posture or create better posture.
@FacePullTiToX5 жыл бұрын
@@SweetPuppyDogo Yep. Facepulls strengthen the antagonistic muscle groups of a push-type exercise like the push up. Similar example: To get a bigger bench press, you might need to do more barbell bent over rows. Besides, facepulls have a restoration component because it directly targets the rotator cuff muscles and promotes external rotation at the shoulders. Good to correct posture, prevent injuries due to muscle imbalances and also a fantastic way to get rid of the pervasive slouching issue of modern society. Face pulls all day long :)

@Swagnuz5 жыл бұрын
Well tbh its just a change of focus, to optimise chest gainz the AthleanX way is probably most efficient, but this method doesnt really go against that principle, it simply adds another element after youve done your rep, in order to improve scapular strength. Atleast thats my takeaway from this vid, been a while since I watched Jeff's vid on the topic :)
