The BEST Way to Level MERCHANT in Sea of Thieves - Guide | Season 13

This is a good strategy for people who find merchant boring. However, if you embrace the fact that merchant is a nice break from the usual treasure digs and skelly fights of the other factions, it can actually be refreshing. Here’s something to try: 1. Raise merchant. 2. Buy all the supplies from the merchant emissary, except fireworks. This will get you almost to level 3 flag before you even leave. 3. Dive to a sea fort and clear it. Now you will be almost level 5, and sea forts are great for supplies as well. 4. Start a merchant medley quest. These tend to flow with each other pretty well. For example, you might have a delivery quest that has you go to outpost 1 and deliver to outpost 2, and then your lost shipment quest starts at outpost 2, etc. If it doesn’t flow together well, cancel it and try another one. Also, you don’t have to do ALL of the medley. If you get a quest that requires capturing animals, for example, you can skip it. Do as much as you want, then cancel it, and vote another medley. Now do as much of that as you want and cancel, etc. You will level fast but also have a lot of variety.

You're right, I've played this game for over 2000 hours now so most of the merchant stuff feels kinda tedious to me, but newer players who aren't quite as jaded probably still enjoy the experience plus it helps you learn to navigate the map which is always useful. You can also just do an "Executive Cargo Run" (medley works too but it'll give you the same location so it doesn't really matter), pick up the crates, cancel the voyage, drop a new one and keep repeating the process allowing you to stack multiple voyages worth of crates before you turn them in. Works really well in The Devil's Roar too. Oh and don't forget about commodities! The gold really adds up at level 5 emissary.

I can confirm it is not patched. Did it last night. The thing is, each treasury has its own mermaid storage. Took me like 4 voyages to get back to the original I stored it in but holy snikeys batman! Tons of loot. Cheers for showing us all dude 🤙

This is a good method. With the skelly camps in season 13 though....I find doing those to be excellent gold/rep per run for merchant. I can get 5-6 per hour and make 250K and about 3 levels every hour. But you have to level up merchant first.

Appreciate the info my dude 🙌🏽 I run Ashen lost shipment for Merchant. Grade 5 within the first voyage. You're method however is very interesting, as I could see myself utilising it to hoard for gold rush.. Thanks again for the info ✌🏾

For me it feels like ashen lost shipment is more efficient I always do these when I start the game from galleon's grave and roll it until I get from my output to morrow peak (no diving needed !), which is easy to get as there are only 4 possible routes. Once I get it, I by 2 supply crates + sugar & spice from Galleon's grave (the lowest priced one and the one Morrows Peak outpost is in need of) Then you do the voyage, and you end up at Morrow Peak with emissary grade 5 and you can sell everything for 250+k in very little time.

Quick recap: 1. One hour and ten minutes. 2. I did 4 dives, got the same treasury 3 times in a row. 3. got around 380,000 ~ 400,000 emissary value / 180,000 ~ 200,000 gold. 4. Went from level 30 (2/3rds of a level) to level 34 (1/10th of a level) after selling 27 crates. 5. I was dangerously close to 2 ships during my 3rd dive - I opted to put my ship on 1/3rd of its' mast and dived to complete the voyage. Upon returning to my ship, I had landed near coordinates H-22 (did not see the red sea, but I was close to the edge of the map). 6. This goes without saying, but yes - your treasures remain stored in the mermaid, regardless of you jumping servers (the trick works, lol). Lastly, a thought on why I like this idea: - In the event that your ship gets destroyed within the 10 - 15 minutes of you doing the treasury, I believe that you raising another flag and putting 27 crates on your ship would give you a significant boost to your emissary level (maybe even level 5, idunno), which would allow you to still sell at a decent profit (if you do an extra voyage before collecting your treasure, then that would 100% do it for you). --> Sorry for the long comment, thank you for the idea and, to everyone reading this, have a nice weekend.

so this is great if you get lucky and end up in the same place over and over, otherwise its a pretty okay strat cause you have to sail to each different shrine to get your loot so it doesnt save much time

I understand the sentiment, but have you considered that you can dive to locations close to the treasuries by either using tall tales (Cursed Rogue puts you at Plunder Outpost which is near Treasury of Lost Ancients, Wild Rose puts you at Sanctuary Outpost which is near Treasury of Sunken Shores, or Rise of the Morningstar which puts you at Daggertooth Outpost, near Treasury of Secret Wilds) or you can just cycle treasure map voyages until it gives you an island near the treasury you want to go to and dive to it, that way you don't have to worry about the 10 minute timer between dives since you can just dig up the chests real quick and complete the voyage (once you select dive it'll put the map of the island it's sending you to in your quest radial so you can see where you're going and cancel it if it's not the right island). To be fair, I probably should have covered this in the guide :)

@@0nestlyGaming right but you cant dive once youve opened any of the mermaids so you're still stuck with the issue of having to sail between all the vaults if you're unlucky enough to get all three. however you COULD just keep cancelling and diving to a new voyage until you get to the same raid as the last time, it would also be potentially very tedious and rng based still. not hating, it is a good strat and i did use it today. for doing merchant farming its not bad but its not going to be quite as good as the video would suggest without great rng

So each treasury has its own individual storage of up to 20 items, so you technically store up to 60 items between the 3 treasuries before you have to collect and sell. Typically I just keep diving and sell whenever I fill up a mermaid statue to make room for more loot

For sure! You can use this same method for any of the trading companies though, it's actually sick for Order of Souls too since the treasury vault gives you like 11 skulls which is equal to about 4 skeleton captain voyages. See that's the thing, literally nobody can pick it up except you. Other crews can't interact with your mermaid, once you put loot in the statue it's safe until you go collect it.

You need to be level 25 in whatever faction you're looking to do it for. If you're not level 25 yet, I'd suggest Lost Shipments or one of the other raid voyages for Merchant. Not as fast but you'll get there before you know it

Someone killed me and sunk my ship while doing the Treasury so its not a perfect method but its pretty good

Not for raids unfortunately, although there are only 3 treasuries so your odds are decent for getting back to same one. For regular treasuries or shrines, you can dive to a treasure map at a nearby island or a skull of destiny to change servers but come up in the same location, but there are like 15 items for normal treasuries so you'd have to sell after the second one.

Nope should work for GH too, just make sure you're coming up at the same treasury. There are 3 of them and each has it's own individual storage of 20 items.

Yea that was pure luck for me to get Treasury of Lost Ancients 3 times in a row, each treasury has its own individual storage of 20 items so if you get put in a different location you'll have more room to put items and you can just go sell whenever one gets full or sail around the map when you're done and collect them all.

That's why I spent no time supplying the ship, it's like eh whatever all you lose is the flag since nobody else can take the loot out of your mermaid. If it gets sunk, just scuttle it when you get back so it puts it an outpost, raise your flag again and dive to the next one, the flag levels up so quickly that you'll be able to get it to level 5 before you cash out. I know it's a little unnerving, but I gotta tell you I've done this a BUNCH and I hardly ever get bothered, maybe 1 out of every 25 times. Most of the time you're off on the edge of the map and you're gone in about 12 minutes so it's difficult for people to even notice you're there much less react to you.
