One major mistake people make is being in the leaning *animation* while crossing a peek angle, ending up exposing more of themself in the process than intended because they’ve overswung by the point the lean finishes and not having the first person POV shifted the farthest from the rest of their body means they’re having to show more of themself to be able to see while moving into the peek. It can be confusing to many, try thinking “head between your shoulders”, you want your eyes to see before your shoulders. An ideal peek would consist of this: 1. Being fully leaned in the direction you want to strafe 2. Strafe to make the peek 3. Immediately counter strafe and simultaneously initiate a counter lean but cancel the counter lean animation by leaning back the other way The initial full lean strafe into the peek best utilizes the first person POV displacement to see while exposing the least amount of body, the counterstrafe and counterlean combined uses linear and upper body motion to get back in cover as fast as possible, using the speed of two movements in one. It’s unintuitive and confusing to newer and even many regular players who don’t know the mechanics behind it, it’s these little intricacies that require understanding how the game is designed that make siege a difficult game to master. And no this wasn’t written by chat gpt im sitting in bed doomscrolling shorts while ripping a vape.

I do this same peek in tarkov, works pretty nicely to get info without giving them too much to shoot at. After that might sprint jump and land right before the doorway, then immediately jump again while turning towards them and hipfiring at them. Of course you can “input the same” (technically not true because you cannot press buttons as fast but hey ho) obviously to reliably peek like that using mouse and keyboard is a million times easier. Never said it was impossible on controller just that it’s more effective on MnK. You’d have to play to 100% capacity to be peeking like that where as on MnK you can do it playing at like 60% barely even trying.

As someone that wasn’t able to grow up PC gaming and is now new to it in their 20s. I am still attempting to mentally process how the fuck I’m supposed to use two to four different movement keys, plus two different leaning keys, plus possibly crouch spamming at the same time, while aiming and shooting and probably needing to reload at some point. I also have crippling unmedicated ADHD and trying to move each finger in that many different directions to press multiple different keys physically causes my brain to stutter and I just start pressing the wrong buttons😂😭 I usually bind crouching to one of my extra mouse buttons on the side to make it so there isn’t as much I have to do with my left hand, but I just be struggling to press multiple different keys simultaneously over and over and over lmfao

Just to add onto this, Many dont realize ubisoft made it so when you are ADS you move as fast as 1 speed no matter the base speed, So if you play a 2 or 3 speed when you exit the peek unADS and you move back to cover just a tad bit faster but it makes the difference. ADS move left lean left, unADS move right lean right back to ads..... and so on
