I am not monetized yet but i still just wanted to know what it means cause i mainly make star wars stop motions and with that i use star wars songs as background music and it says that my video has a copyright claim but it doesn't have an effect. Yeah it happened to me on a lip sync Short. Had to just delete the video. It was claimed by UMG. They change things & YT has to catch up... Maybe that's what it is. On LF vids, I won't ever be using commercial music.

Thanks, I had a video get 1. 2M views it got me monitzation but after a week or so, the dreaded red dollar sign and copyright claim showed up. I just erased the music now. Thanks Vidiq✌️ I was so upset when this happened I worked 2.5 year's trying get my channel going and I finally did but I used music off an editing app it said to watch a commercial and unlock the song. I thought it was OK to use on KZbin. Oh, people were constantly complaining in my comments about the music they hated it 😅

This will work if there's only one issue on said video. E.G. In one of my gaming videos there are two separate spots where copyrighted music is being played. The erase feature error-ed out because there was more than one 😕. Edit: With that being said this feature has worked for me when there was one issue

If u plan to monetize & make this a full-time job or career, it's a good idea to know YT's Guidelines & Policies. Just read everything carefully... And keep up to date with it. And can't hurt to read over Copyright Laws like Fair Use, Creative Commons, etc. You gotta protect your business

But my game streams usually get some fradulent copyright cliams that says they own the background music when they dont. And those are not from the legit music or game companys, but from well-known cockroaches that falsely claim anything and everything they can touch.

@@IanHsieh youtube has to operate in "legal safe harbour" or this whole thing doesn't work. Your appeal goes to the claimant not youtube, who in most cases will just auto reply "no". If you do fall under fair use or the equivalent in the country where the content is authored (for example fair dealing in the uk is far stricter) then their denial can be illegal. but good luck having the spare funds to see that through in a suit. I operate a music education channel showing how songs are made and not a single record label has respected fair use even though educational content is one of the solid pillars of fair use qualification.

Thanks. But don't you only have to do that for copyright STRIKES? U can still monetize with copyright it's just a certain portion of the proceeds have to go to the owner of the song and they're also allowed to put ads on your videos that have the part with their music on it. U can still make money, just not ALL the money. Make sure you get a lisence the artist already made free or buy the lisence. I have tins of copyright but no copyright strikes. It says on the video you're alright to use this song the artist posted it free. Which is usually gonna be a big band. I did look for this feature and it is there, thanks for letting us know im the future what to look out for

I had a copy write claim for the first time just before I saw this video. I was a little freaked out but it was easy to fix. Ironically, I had just uploaded another video with the same music only an hour before. Luckily it was scheduled and was able to fix that one too before it was released.

Good video. I had mine removed for songs that used to be royalty free. Guess they changed over time. Definitely just erased the song. Be careful if u hit mute all you’ll mute yourself talking too

This does NOT work 98% of the time. I record in a casino - lots of music must be blocked because everyone in the world claims copyright. Not at all, unless you plan on making money on KZbin in the future. The owners of the song will take all of the revenue made from your video with the song. It's a bit unfair since they take EVERYTHING, and not like a fair share since it's a few minutes.
