No, you don't have to climb in to lock the doors. It is very discreet, basically undetectable from the outside. Adam it’s about layers of security. If you want to protect your van whilst at home invest in a Pyronix alarm and then add a Car Defender £30. This is a wireless device that adds to the house alarm and is designed to protect the vehicle from keyless entry theft, catalytic converter theft, tool theft. It has two technologies built in shock sensor and accelerometer (tilt). It can be set to trigger the house alarm and mobile app or just send a push notification to the app and the app says Car Defender activated.

David here from Artisan Security in Ireland. Pyronix alarm system with pyronix car defender and inertia sensors work a treat. Inertia sensors on the doors and car defender on the steering wheel. When they are trying to gain entry to the back they will make vibration triggering the devices before they gain entry. Car defender on steering wheel will trigger soon as vibration or turning of the steering wheel. But them on front doors if its feasible. Van just needs to be in close proximity to the house. Not to close the range is great.

There are staff on site 24/7 it was parked 10m from the reception and you have to negotiate a barrier access system to get onsite. Staff had been told not to interfere as it’s too dangerous and not to bother phoning the Met as they never turn up. Just goes to show the intelligence of these thieves, all you need to do to see if a van is loaded is look at the rear wheel arches, I had to replace the side door but nothing was stolen as the van was empty. Then followed by a 130db internal siren... good luck! Also you can install an insanely bright strobe light inside the van. Disorientating them is brill :D

My brothers work van has been broken into numerous times. He is a diamond driller, so his gear is mega expensive. I suggested he electrify the skin of his van when it is parked outside his gaff. A 0.01amp buzz for the initial warning (painful, but not overtly dangerous), if the scum come back after, a 1amp (fatal) jolt to make sure they don't try again. It's a shame it would be illegal, but when the police refuse to do what we pay them for, people will end up taking matters into their own hands. This is how vigilantes are born.
@scott32329 ай бұрын
Possible major flaw with this one. You mentioned you can train the key fob to work with additional ones, not sure how that is done, however what's stopping someone getting one of these fobs and pairing it up with yours? You get the exact same fobs on other alarm systems we have one on our summer house in the back garden so they are easily obtained these fobs. Again not sure how you pair the fobs up to additional alarms but I'm going to imagine this could be a major flaw with this system. Just another point, these guys breaking into vans these day's couldn't give a toss if an alarm is going off, there's usually more than one and carrying machetes or other weapons so although I know I can handle myself I just wouldn't risk running out my house if I heard my alarm going off and there is 2-4 guys with visible weapons on show. Police don't get involved anymore but they would if you went out and hurt one of those scummy rats. We aren't protected enough these days and if you dare take it into your own hands it's you that's in the s*it, absolute madness really is.
@sotaelectrical9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comments, ok so I will try and answer your questions… you need original fobs to pair new ones up, this is not a high end ££££ security system, it has been designed to alert only. Regarding the guys breaking into vans, there not all the same, some might walk away and the other serious gangs are another issue, I do have a way of sorting this in the event of it happening but I will be banned from KZbin for sharing it, and I will happily do time after being done twice with no help from the police

those are basically shock motion sensors from amazon with the remote. the difference is the additional outdoor case to stick to the outside of the vehicle. one feature they could add to this concept are notifications that csn trigger events like email & text you an alert & maybe trigger cameras inside and around the van.

Thank you for sharing about this alarm system. I would also consider professional thieves potentially finding ways to disable the alarm by simulating the key frequency. It's essential to have a deterrent in place to prevent such attempts. One approach could be implementing additional security measures that notify the owner if the alarm is deactivated, such as receiving a text message or email alert. This added layer of security would provide peace of mind, especially during vulnerable times like late at night. Addressing false alarms is also crucial for maintaining the effectiveness of the system. While sensitivity settings can help fine-tune the alarm's responsiveness, finding the right balance between sensitivity and reliability is key. Providing customizable sensitivity options, similar to those found in high-end dash cams, would enable users to adjust settings according to their specific needs and environment. Overall, ensuring the alarm system is difficult to overcome and provides feedback and customization options for users will enhance its effectiveness and reliability.

It is trivial for criminals to purchase one of these devices and use a flipper zero to read the radio frequencies and be able to play them back. Or even reverse engineer the key fob radio signal to figure out the ranges that they use to deactivate the alarm and then simply create a flipper zero program to emulate it.

But its plastic...whats its melting temperature? The noise could be supressed by some quick hardening or thick substance, foam or super high viscosity material like mollasses or tar etc?

if it detects shock it would be useful on the inside of the van and then cant be removed. Im surprised nobody doesnt sell a bolt on steel edge for the top inside with a electronic deadbolt into another steel edge along the roof. Im surprised van makers dont sell a workvan with similar already in place. oh they do. Reinforced Load Space for Master and Trafic | Renault Trucks

Alarms and cameras are deterents, thieves dont know who is watching, but if they know what your product does they will look elsewhere, Vanguard is an additional layer of security to deter thieves. nice product. I own a decent car and have had 2 systems installed, Ghost II and Scopion S5, even with the keys they cannot drive it without knowing the secret input sequence from the vehicles own switches/ indicators/flappy paddles, scorpion will track the vehicle and alert the owner immediatly if the vehicle is lifted, however gentle due to geo fencing. That life at present, If I had a van I would alos install Vanguardian as another layer of security.

Good bit of kit, seen it on dragon's den was surprised none of the dragon's went for it, def a major deterrent.

First rule of being robbed is tell nobody you got robbed. You're waiting for someone else to say "I hear you got robbed" so that you can ask "where did you hear that from?".

1. that siren aint gonna do shit ( based on typical car alarms that in general most neighbours arent bothered about) 2. the fact that it goes off by the slightest nudge will become annoying to your neighbours and during your shifts. 3. it will be the first target to break off. 4. they basically created a stick on alarm that doesn't actually solve the problem of how easy it is to break into the vehicle
@sotaelectrical7 ай бұрын
Hi mate thanks for commenting, it depends on why the alarm is purchased, so for me, 1) the alarm is to make me aware not the neighbours, I wouldn’t rely on others, 2) I’ve had this for months now, no one nudges my van when it’s alarmed at home and while I’m working it’s not on, 3) yes maybe so, but it will sound which will hopefully alert me, 4) it’s not been designed to solve the issue, it’s a cheap additional layer of security.

they should make a induction charger kit for it , so it does not need removing for battery charging , does it have notifications / sms ?

good thought. along those lines, I do think their AAA's battery useage design is a bit underwhelming, AA's would only make it slightly larger but definitely longer life.

And the problem with this is thieves do not care about noise they do it in broad daylight light now as they no they won’t get into to trouble but I suppose every little helps

What if they can mimic or hack the key fob to disarm the alarm? Car key fobs seem to be hacked all the time.

The weakest link is the batteries I feel, having to keep replacing them and what if they go flat just before a break in?

It’s not a super expensive security set up, I think cost needs to be taken into account, the perfect product would be much more expensive 👍👍

Can’t hear the alarms when there inside the van though
@1over1375 ай бұрын
If that goes off in my street you are more likely people coming out to help them rob the van to speed the process up. Loud alarms only work if you can hear them. Nobody else will care. In fact they will be very annoyed with you.

Had my van stolen off my drive, peeled two lines by the middle of the side door and they were in. Was on the phone to the police, computer was on and an email pinged from West Mercia to say they had closed the case, like f cough, I'm on the phone to you, how can that be.

i bought these for my van back when they were promoting them early release. and i did like it it works but the remote snapped in my pocket as its thin 3d printed and just got crushed... it was quite loud even just to arm the thing u get looked at like I'm the thief lol just arming the damn thing XD, anyway since then the batteries died i put new ones in and it wasn't working thing they got wet inside, lastly since then my van broke down and needs a new gearbox so thats been SORN and I'm not using it currently so i went to pull the alarms off to put on my land rover and snapped the casing :I

Is there a van out there purpose built by the manufacturer to be extra secure with heavier gauge metal panels, with more secure doors, better grade locks and built in high security systems? Seems like there might be a market niche.
@sotaelectrical8 ай бұрын
I don’t think there is, the reason the vans are all thin metal is to do with weight reduction, personally I would prefer a heavier more secure van
