OK so here is the problem. Yes you will get it sharp and maybe you will even get the burr off but you are also applying great heat to the edge which will mess with the heat treatment.

show the edge of the blade at 100x magnification, you will see everything that this sharpening method hides

@Aleksandr_Ivanov___ Thank you for the suggestion! Viewing the edge of the blade at 100x magnification would indeed reveal details about the sharpening method's effectiveness. I'll consider including such detailed visuals in future videos to provide a deeper understanding.

@@CreativePassion88 The Japanese correctly said that the edge of the blade will quickly wear out and lose its cutting ability. because the edge is not sharpened, you will see this in a microscope, there will be breaks, or in other words, a micro saw, it cuts (it saws) the paper. I liked the process, but I would finish the edge on the machine manually, while maintaining the degree (angle) of sharpening. You have skipped these steps, but you have polished the irregularities, you may see them on the edge. Something was simplified, something was left out. Most of it is automated to remove the metal of the blade, but the whole basis of the blade's sharpness is in the edge. The preservation of edges affects the long-term preservation of sharpness. (namely, reducing the angle at the edge). so that there is no micro saw and micro burrs of metal in one of the sides. And a micro saw can cut, and even this micro sharp burr. But the edge is razor sharp when these two shortcomings are eliminated The Japanese wanted to say about this that two factors, a micro saw and a burr, quickly dull the blade. because the edge remains unsharpened. this can keep the blade sharp twice, three times longer.

Kaç numara zımpara kullanıyorsun
@CreativePassion883 ай бұрын

@CreativePassion886 ай бұрын

What is that green thing? Is it a stainless steel polishing compound? Also, why are you using 120 grit? You seem to have a nice knifes; you could have used 400 grit.
@CreativePassion885 ай бұрын
Hi @amazigh_304, thanks for your question! Yes, the green thing is a stainless steel polishing compound. As for the 120 grit, it was used for initial sharpening because it quickly removes material and shapes the edge. You’re right, for finer sharpening and a smoother finish, using 400 grit would be more appropriate. If you have any other tips or questions, feel free to share!
