I thought for a second, nice, rewarding players for using officers efficiently. Nope. Instead we will make them irrelevant in order to push people to purchase new stuff. Good strategy, we used it in my alliance and it worked very well. Scopely seems very diligent in nerfing creative strategies we come up with ASAP if it threatens their revenue, if only they showed the same initiative in fixing year long bugs...

it was a cheap strategy that meant you didnt have to do any research of the starbase and you could clear the 1.2b epic armada for 100k host chest + other goodies with only 4 PBG and 1 big and it respawns in 1-2 min vs. 24 hours like DS 51 epics?. not sure that is healthy for the game.

This video is awesome Rev, and I wish that this functionality would have stayed for more than a couple hours. It sucks, absolutely sucks, that Scopely nerfed Gaila's ability without ANYTHING to replace her, ANY path planned going forward, ANY time table for a fix... they only knew they didn't want us actually enjoying this game and being able to accomplish these new armadas with increased difficulty for a lucrative reward. This stinks, and I hope Scopely learns that this is absolutely NOT how to fix a "bug".

It's bad code (not with Gaila, but with the accurate calculation of the effects of officers in Armadas) that's been known to exist for years. It hasn't been a priority to fix it as people have failed armadas they shouldn't have (most common scenario for the person spending the directives and running a tougher armada with bigger players carrying it) or when it's given some people an advantage (knowingly or unknowingly). But now that it could impact sales of their new officers that these armadas were designed to push sales, action must be taken!!!

Kira is the intended counter to the Cardassian armada ability. Gaila made Kira unnecessary, which is why they nerfed her - she was nullifying the intended revenue stream from sales of Kira.

And they made an epic fail ! It is litterally like Gaila makes a special ops like the Sulu Kirk onto Nero's planet drill space jump. And cut the Cardmada power plant conduits off. They should have known. And they should have left that be. Like the Realta burn. In this game we are the attacker we decide the hood time when an opportunity happens ... yet we can make no damage at all because the defender strikes first ? You show 56 rounds and it takes thee ships the same time than if a very small was struck in 2 rounds. Or same yime than a large though ship taking an hostile in 3 rounds. Or the wonderful I take 200k loot from a. Station and your Hydra takes 5M and it takes the sale time. This last is explainable by lots of cargo bay and transporter rooms. But the station drain from the same planet with 3 seconds travel when game design or sply app and system design still did not display the button to attack and the target is already safe at station ? And the almighty latinium to repair instantly. This is a farce ! But we are fans and they know we will go on "to read the stories" But really... Good things happen like the new s System content button in hud. And some stay crippling regular people play. In a gale of travel time of a few min. Where we have 2 to 6 ships, 7 with their new Ferengi deck to buy, they are not ready to make SOUNDING the ship going from Warp to impulse. Especially into hostile areas. Yet their in game chat blinds totally the game. And the only warning is a banner we can no longer tap to get directly to that endangered ship. Banners that all look the same. And do not even stay when it is an information that needs a reaction. Cou tness are the hime where ships get in wrecks k home after an 8 min travel because of fatigue or a. Interesting chatade reaction a bit too slow. When it is not the game taking looong seconds to display too many makes to unfold for seeing the hisyile ship near contact without enough time to evade These they dl not thi k it is important but Gaila? Their cash flow that did not lift up with the very Nice O'brien officer alerted them fast. What have they done to Gaila exactly?

Yo Rev, Just to let you know Scopely just shut this strategy down. From Scopely: "Commanders, We're temporarily disabling Gaila's officer ability from working on Armadas due to an unintended interaction between it and the Cardassian targets. We will be looking for a more permanent fix to her at a later date." This arc gets a "F" on this move alone, no coming back from this. Oh yea and the hot mess of a launch of this update/upgrade/patch yesterday. Why is it every time we get a solid strategy Scopely shuts it down, this is the second time (that I know of) that this has happened. Would love to hear your comments on this move. P.S. They won't be coming back to her any time soon.

I think I speak for a broad part of the community, literally the last thing we needed was MORE random armadas 😑 This goes back to Scopely doubling down on extremely poor game design and instead of improving existing content to incorporate new features they just build something new from the ground up. Poor game design leads to less money. Great game design equals more money. It’s not a hard concept. They could have easily (and more cheaply) just built a new (glowie area like apex/augment) for the Cardassians with an average amount of armadas. The difference would be that all F/R/K armadas paid out the new starbase currency but rhe Cardassians armadas paid double the amount. High risk/high reward with the increase in crit damage. So far I’m just disappointed with the new DS9 rollout (tech issues at arc launch aren’t even something that bother me just more poor game design).

To get around the nerfing I use 6of11 which also gives you mitigation against Armada. I use Khan also on the bridge. I am still trying to find a decent other bridge officer that will let me beat higher armadas. Maybe 6of11, Bev and Khan.

Hi Rev. Just wanted to point out for lower-level players, that if more than one player does not have Gaila maxed, you may need more than one ship running Picard-Beverley-Gaila or Pike-Moreau-Gaila.

Rev, good video as always, shame its all for nothing now. Damage didn't really matter we found running three crews of PMG or PBG was enough for 39 uncommons and needed 4 for 39 rares and took these out with relative ease after no damage was received after round 6. Now we are back to struggling to kill 33s. For Scopely to break an officer on purpose that weve all known about and used for the last three years because it doesn't suit their ill thought out plans and impacts their deplorable

Use 6 of 11 she does about the same mitigation overall. I ran with Gaila side and ^ as captain and they did about the same. I can solo a 33 using a 10M K'Tinga Just with 60f11 capt and KHan. That gives you more options for the third to be able to hit high Armadas

At my alliance Commodores are always telling people about good crews and how to play better - if players won't listen then leaders have to take action - ask people to to change, demote them if they won't and alo demand Armada leaders star people out when needed/able, and if it continues to persist then even take it to the extent of removing players from the allaince... A allaince is only as good as it's weakest players - if they won't listen or learn, replace them. Sentimentality is bad for an allaince's growth and success. My allaince isn't even in the top10 on my server but we are growing as fast as we can and we are focused on getting better and doing things better. Hopefully we will get there but even if we don't, we run ourselves like any of the top5 allainces and set out expectations as such so our players know how to play - or are atleast learning... We don't suffer people who will not learn or listen...give them a chance to improve and if that fails, cut them and replace with someone else who will listen and learn

It only took 2 people wasting their directives trying to take down a 39 rare for our alliance to learn. The same group ran it 2x and took down about 25% of the station. My group with all Gailas came in and killed it with no one losing more than 20% hull. From then on, everyone started changing their crews. The only struggle was getting people who didn't log in earlier in the day and who didn't check Discord to learn the strategy.

Hey Rev, I know everyone is fired up about Gaila, but I think it should also be noted how AWFUL the elite faction packs are. 1.) ridiculously expensive, and 2.) cluttered with officers from the standard faction packs. They’ll make us pay out the nose, THEN on top of that the RNG is gonna give us transporter patterns for officers we’ve had for years. Make them address both issues!

They've actually made a decent first step in the right direction. I've noticed a pair of rare directives being in the participant chest of the uncommon cardassian armadas, either guaranteed or close enough that I couldn't tell the difference without saving a bajillion chests to test with. It's not a huge amount, but giving out 4 rare directives to an alliance per uncommon carmada they run will add up surprisingly fast.

@@memehere4856 how often do participants get chest? Leaders get them, but even in Rev's video where he is running armada during filming, he was surprised to have gotten a participant's chest. Leaders get chest and 2 rare directives per armada they run. It still would need 100 uncommon armada ran to get 1 rare armada that way. If they start coming in participant chest as well that would be nice, if consistent. It's easier to attend 10p armada than lead 100.

@@JohnThomas-ut3go Armadas always give out one leader chest and one participant chest, which is randomly assigned to one of the participants. So for 2-person armadas you're guaranteed the participant chest and for 7 person armadas it's a one in six chance.

I can't say I'm surprised that Scopely nerfed this. I don't even really blame them for doing so. This strategy was overpowered and let people take out armadas that I think they didn't want people to be able to take out without substantially more power. That being said, this isn't something that should have caught them by surprise. This type of strategy was an obvious one and one they should have considered when designing the Cardassian bases. I mean the way it has the increasing crit mechanic makes it seem like they actually had Gaila in mind when they designed it. It was like it was tailor-made for her. Outright disabling her officer ability entirely seems like the wrong solution to the problem. They should have just said that only one the most powerful Gaila ability will be effective and it isn't cumulative. So you can reduce the crit by 110%, but rares would still do 190% increased damage and epics would still do 340% increased damage. Then she still gets her utility, but it's not a cakewalk.

Great tips, for as long as they lasted. Personally I don't think it was right of Scopely to disable Gaila. They should have pushed through the problem and let the player take the win for a little longer. That would have earned more good will, but yes, it would have broken "the rule of scarcity" that drives a game like this. Quality control is still a problem because this scenario should have been on someone's test plan. Or, game design is not actually playing the game very much, just enough to test but no more.

Hey Rev, just a little or maybe not so little note to your statement. The leader has to run PMG/PBE thats not entirely true. Any member can run that crew and "just" needs to be stared. So that everyone except the leader gets the PM/PB Bonus for Gaila. We did 50E with g4 ships and 1 tiny g5 Vorcha.

It's a shame that older officers are becoming useless with each new arc that is released. New officers today forgotten about tomorrow. My one disagreement is all crews should be max mitigation builds if you have enough gaila attack doesn’t matter if after round 9 no damage is taken

Unfortunately, as always Scopely will Nerf the current specific use case instead of fixing the long known to Scopely employees (years), exploitable, bad coding that has not been a priority to fix likely because they profited off of the bad code. Ever wondered why you failed against an armada that one of the same type/level was a relatively easy/doable kill minutes prior? The bad coding behind this Gaila scenario as Rev has specifically laid out is to thank for that. But don't worry, there's almost always a pack you can buy so you can try again in order to increase your score in that event.

Unfortunately, if explain how the bad coding is behaving in order to help people not needlessly lose armada directives, that understanding of the problem makes it easy to understand how to exploit it. Which, as Rev has laid the scenario out in his video is an exploit of the bad code, not a proactive avoidance of it. Specifically, the part about only needing Picard, Beverly, T5 Gaila for the Armada leader and ****Gaila just on the side for the other members****. The same video could have been done with the same effect without advertising the exploitable code by having 4 people running combos of Picard, Bev, and T5 Gaila while cautioning that you can't have anyone with t4 Gaila or without 2 synergy officers with her. Then you would need either a 5th or 6th ship, or these ships need to be big enough to survive with that crew.
