Dav's Hope is boring and a waste of time, you can't even get anything higher than g3 manufactured mats. It's hell of a lot more fun and takes less time to just go to high population areas in federation and empire systems and scan the nav beacon and find High grade emissions which guarantee you'll get nothing but g4 and g5 mats, there is more to it than just that but that is the basics of it also there are tons of encoded emission ship wrecks to scan. As far as raw materials do a search in youtube for a system called HIP 36601 it's got what you need and then use the material traders to trade down for the lower grade raw mats, only catch is you'll need an engineered FSD in a long range type ship because it's a good piece away

At Plucker's Relay park the ship 2 km from the site (or they'll attack you) go with SRV,make a round trip and scan all 5 data Points,relog at will.All Grade IV/V Encoded stuff.

when you say "reload your save" do you mean log out right where you're standing? I thought that took you out of SRV?

Another great video. Thanks a lot! One thing I noticed at the Anaconda crash site, but am not 100% sure: if you shoot more gently at the cargo racks it seems that it greatly increases the chances of getting two materials each time. Like bursts of two to thre shots until it breaks. Maybe the materials also don’t fly that far away.

Thanks for the infio but Materials be it engineering or guardian ruin this game - how the hell they think doing the same mindless activity 100 times is fun is beyond me - people complain more don't play in open... well you kinda want to have an engineered ship like a lot of open players (who must have endless time on their hands) have and engineering a ship you could spend 2 hours drooling through a grind and watch it all melt away with random engineering dice rolls and not get anywhere - it's a shame that for all the effort put in and the great parts of the game that things like this just ruin it and I mean ruin it - I cannot get anyone I know to play past their first bout with engineers or guardians once I explain... now just to it 50 more times. At the very least FDev should make all these materials purchasable so players could spend their time doing activities they enjoy like exploring or mining or whatever and the use their credit to not have to mindless grind, log-out, log-in - it's actually insulting.

I think FDev want the engineers to be background/endgame content: you are supposed to play the game (combat, mining, exploration, missions...) and slowly get materials on the side, which in turn allows you to build the "ultimate endgame ship". I don't believe they intend players to stock up on mats by farming for multiples hours to fully engineer a ship.

So I went to Inara or somewhere, found the same system name, copy and pasted that and there it was. Great video my man. I've been playing Elite off and on since the early days of Beta 2. I quit playing shortly after the Engineers were introduced because tons of other games ended up occupying my time. Decided to jump back into Elite recently and all of this Engineering stuff has been very confusing for me to make sense of. I've seen lots of other videos but they don't go into enough detail. I appreciate that you took the time to put this lengthy video together. You go into just enough detail that allows someone to find their own farming planets and create their own loop, but don't go so far into it that the information you're trying to get across gets lost. I didn't even know you could manufacture ammo, limpets, and fuel either. That sounds pretty crazy useful.

27:19 - Plucker Relay landing tips. The restricted airspace above it on approach is about 8 to 10K. Stay out of airspace. Start ground landing about 8 to 10km away and then approach at 100 to 200m above ground until you are 2 to 3km away. I landed 3km away to be safe. If you get fines, you are okay until you have a bounty placed on you. They will attack with bounty. Leave planet. I went to Gabien Ku - Braun Beacon to pay my fine at Interstellar Factors. Then try to land near Pluker Relay again.

Also every engineers base moons are loaded with raw materials. Scan the moon and look for geological signals. This will have landing places where raws are in abundance. You'll have to go there so check it out .

As a new player this video has helped so much (as did your money making video). I farmed each location for 1 hour and farmed enough mats to unlock 14 engineers. Going round again so I can farm all the mats to fully engineer my DBX for exploration.

Side note on plucker relay, be sure to scan the ship that spawns on the landing pad while making your rounds, it won't always give data, but it's worth hitting!

I never fly without a DSS. There's a lot one can miss without one. Including good money scans. For low level mats, I generally get those from core mining. Once I'm done with the abrasion blaster and the limpets are all busy, I switch to a mining laser and use it till the asteroid is depleted. I'm there anyways, so why not? When I arrive or leave a station, I spend a few minutes scanning wakes. Over time, it really adds up, and doesn't feel like a grind. Also, when I'm docked in a station, I look at the NAV panel and select every ship and scan them. You don't always get data, but again, over time you will. Sometimes high grade, and sometimes multiple per scan. I even scan the authorities' ships as well. I do as much as I can to avoid using the broken shopping cart, I mean the SRV! LOL! I try to find the flattest places for any SRV work. Dav's hope is a really good one for mats and data. I never knew you could drive in turreted mode. I will certainly give that a try, thanks. I play in VR, so that might be part of the reason I hate the SRV. And yes, I have tried all the settings recommended for VR, and it did help a little bit. I think the key to playing Elite, is don't turn it in to a job. Do some trading, do some mining, do some combat, and maybe go on an exploration trip. Change it up often, cause the grind can get to you if you let it. Hell, I built a Python for mining and named it the "EAS Mortar and Pestle", in honor of the grind! LOL! Very well detailed guide, and good to see you showing the basics to those who are new to Elite. Surprised I haven't found your channel till now. I agree about never flying without a DSS, you map ONE earthlike or terraformed world and you're a million credits richer. And I mean the well known ones like Lave. Yes you get money for mapping those. I was surprised too, but I got bored when I was doing rare trade runs one day (before I discovered LTD mining) and I thought "ehh why not throw a few probes at it". Turns out I got first mapped on one of the earth-likes on the Rare Goods trading loop. I forget which one, but it's around Lave/Leesti etc.

Theres a way to max all g4 raw mats in about an hour but you have to jump about 1500ly away each site has a diffrent g4 raw mat no logging in and out as an example you can max technechium in about 20 mins that can be a pain farming in the bubble

I've played off and on for years, recently came back and finished my grind for the Corvette and ran in to a wall trying to engineer it as I couldn't figure out a decent method for farming materials. Night mode also works in your SRV by the way so you dont have to drive around with the lights on all the time. Great video though! Really helped me get raw materials (was already farming Dav's Hope and Jameson Crash Site for others)

If they added life to planets, just the odd few, like super rare and let you get out of your ship, I would be all over this game again... for me, I just found it to be very lonely and a little dull... That said, looks like they have added a lot more than there was last time I played, mining planet rocks and stuff... pretty cool... oh... your in a mini ship on the planet, again new... crashed ships... not sure that was a thing either... hummm... might have to relook at this any way... Heard they are adding capital ships, is that in the game now ? I have this on PS4... played for 8 months approx at release.

They are adding capitol ships this fall and in 2020 they are adding base building muwahahaha!! That might come with space legs. Along with other things. Also the alien Thargoid race has been doing some story line attacks on earthling space recently. There is life forms and plants as well as geologic sites to discover. It's not near the same level as NMS though.

Screw all that work, just farm the high grade data and materials and trade down using the material traders, Use Jameson Crash Site for grade 5 Data And HIP 36601, Outotz HD-J D9-3 & Outotz LS-K D8-3 for grade 4 minerals.

The info from this is great. It does work BUT.... do not kid yourself. You will not be done in hours. This takes a long time. I have been working Jameson Crash Site for 4 days now. Yes, sure... my stock are low and I am relatively new at 7 months of playing the game. The grind for getting mats in this game is AWFUL. I was tired of getting to the engineers and not being able to fully or partially upgrade because I didn't have enough mats. So I started working this system. By no means is this a fast way of farming. It is farming but it sure isn't fast. I don't think there is any way faster, however. Can't really do the crash method either to save time because the nearest material trader is a decent distance away so if you took a throw away ship you will still need a vehicle bay AND you will have a long slow trip to get back to the crash site...and then you have the issue of all of the carriers in the system and if you crash hoping to get back to Ray's (material trader station) you will just be respawned at one of the carriers in HIP 12099. No matter what you will have to travel time consuming distances back and forth to trade down the mats. Hopefully tomorrow I can start the manufactured components and I will assume that will also take 3-4 days of straight farming. At least...when its all done it will be done and I can be happy and actually play the game again. **EDIT** Its been 6 days of farming Jameson crash site 10hrs each day. Had to stop.. going insane. Tried bulk carrier science vessels in anarchy and had better results minus one - peculiar shield data... that one is a rare drop.

Okay, I admit to maybe not being quite the sharpest tool in the shed. I always get where I'm going but sometimes it takes a bit longer or I have to take a different route from the norm. You keep talking about Setting and Loading Your Save in order for everything to re-spawn. Clarify this please. Is this meaning to log out then back in again? Logging back in, will I still be on the planet surface or would I have to locate and land over and over again? Given the choice I really hate making landings that don't use the docking computer. I can do them without tearing up my ship. But I just plain don't LIKE doing them. Given the chance I would do nothing but wander around in the asteroid fields mining. Shooting at and blowing up shiny floaty rocks. Happy as can be. But I want those shiny toys offered via engineering and such. When farming from HGE, if you exit to desktop then reload your save, it will respawn again directly behind you. Go into Supercruise and put throttle to 0% and do a loop, target the now unknown source and fly to it and repeat the process. Remember the timer still is in effect so you are limited on how long you have until you have to find another HGE.

Plucker Relay are haters if you park to close ;p 2-3km away is good enough and don't fly over unless you are about 10-20km above ground . if you get to close you will get a warning high tail it away from there or they will hate on you big time. lol

This is a way but I wouldn't call it the best way. I do agree with the wake scanning and getting raw materials to fuel your srv but the rest not so much but I will say maybe this was the best way at the time he made this video, can't say for sure except for Dav's Hope is trash and boring, nothing higher than g3 mats there, scan the nav beacon in the Federation and empire high population systems like a billion or more. The state of the system will determine which type of manufactured mats you'll find but all of the High grade emissions will be g4 or 5 mats

What ship do you recommend for engineer grind. I have 1 bil creds was thinking of going with an all purpose conda. Some ppl said its size can be an issue tho. I currently have a mining python which I hear is also a good option after a refit

There are ways to get all these materials now without such painful grinding, relogging etc; Dav's hope and the crashed condas, while effective, these methods are tedious, obsolete and pre-date mechanics for scanning with probes, material traders, mission rewards for rare materials and several other refinements. The closest I've come to anything I would consider grindy since Beyond dropped is probably opal mining, and that still doesn't involve any relogging or rinse and repeat. Most manufactured I get in combat zones with limpets and the raws can be obtained from geological formations on planets or assorted Goid sites. I prefer the formations because I can find them easily in bubble without having to dedicate a session or any remarkable amount of time, travel or ship reconfiguration.

Ohh yeah I understand there are other ways. They just are not as fast as what I have shown in the videos. With davs hope you have the opportunity to get a larger variety of drops as well as accumulate them faster than farming ships. Not to mention the free encoded scan per loop. I'm also someone who before finding out about the crashed ships used to farm the raw materials the old fashioned way including geologic sites. The crashed conda method hands down the fastest when utilizing the trader. I've never been able to find anywhere else I can get a full stock of the t5 raw in under an hour. What I was after was pure efficiency and speed of gathering. The one thing I regret leaving out was passenger missions for some of the t5 mats. They are very good in combination with the materials trader as well.

@@HawkesGaming lol faster? And you are doing it the old fashioned way man; geologic sites are a recent thing, relatively. Sorry to hear you got poor results with them. Perhaps after you've gained some experience. So early in the game the old grounds are probably the most convenient for you. If you want to measure speed, check out D2E as he takes a pretty scientific approach or another cmdr with a few thousand hours in the game for stats and methods perhaps. I don't seem to recall saying anything about farming ships... But hey, grind away, play your way, but "Best" way... for you perhaps. Dav's hope I haven't been to in a couple years, thankfully, but I'm aware of what's there. I thought I should point out alternatives for those who prefer to play their way versus grinding. I really only commented at all because Best is very subjective; that immersion breaking sort of grind loop is painful for many and minimizing the amount of it in elite is often a relief. o7 Cmdr and thanks for making the vids, even if I don't care for some of your assumptions.

@@cmdrgueromarinero1905 Brother I wouldnt assume anything about anyone I do not know. It took me under 5 hours to fully engineer my corvette doing this. I had enough left overs to engineer my asp and part of my python. I farmed this loop for 6 hours and still had leftovers. 6 hours to engineer 2 full ships and a part of another isnt slow by any means. Considering I did every method you mentioned for days on end in the beginning to engineer my cutter the loop is faster. Don't you worry yourself though I love this game and will keep putting out videos. Eventually you will understand I'm not a newb. I value my time so when I farm I like to get it done then go play the game.

Great tutorial but might be worth mentioning that you can't enter Shinrarta without a permit - had to search for how to get one. Also, went to Dav's Hope but wouldn't let me scan any of the data points - targeted them and was pressing and holding the button but nada - guess it's borked

Check your fire groups - when you are in your srv and make sure “data link scanner” is bound to secondary fire button👍

If you are interested, I have a far better loop for raw materials, it does involve more travel but you can fill every grade 4 to max in under an hour each (without having to reload at all) once you get there, excepting Selenium - which I just cross-trade for. If you don't mind flying around 1300ly outside the bubble it's far easier than the crashed Anaconda.

Since the patch Dav's Hope is now more - as some one else has mentioned there is a crashed ship there with some low value containers and a restriction zone being enforced by three flying drones (easy to dispatch with the SRV) - nothing of worth there now - oh it's also just inside a combat zone... The crashed Anaconda and Gergory's Rest a re also both gone - now there's a large scar on the landscape, almost as if they've remodelled that part of the planet. Not tried Plucker Relay yet - not been there before.

Just landed there at the ship wreck location. There is a Cobra mk3 there instead with no shields. Tom Inspace is the name of the npc. It has a wanted on it. No Anaconda. They must have updated this on the patch. Thank you for the video!
